"Cassian," My father's voice boomed despite his calm visage. "Remember, child. These people are our guests from a different world, gifted to us by the Gods themselves. To call them savages is the act of a Blasphemer."
I watched as my eldest brother's face was drained of blood. The fire he wished to light was doused in foam, unable to burn with the blood of battle. He could only lower his head, in embarrassment and in shame. I choked down the urge to scoff.
This was why my father wouldn't give him the Throne.
"However,"
The eyes of authority befell the four heroes once more.
"Knowing your names would indeed be convenient."
Then, silence descended. It was clear that my father had no desire to make any requests. No wish to show that he was weak. At the same time, he could not make demands, for he knew that these people were favoured by the Gods he was faithful to.
It was a pleasant sight, and it called for my adoration. Never in my twelve years of life had I seen my father in such a state. Not that I could say that I saw him often.
Nevertheless, today's gathering was proving to be fun. Instead of my siblings looking upon me like I was the scum of the earth, their eyes were all drawn to the four in front.
My eyes darted around this pin-drop silence. My modern mind was dying in the awkward silence, sincerely hoping that it would break in the next breath.
"I am Eve White." The calm young lady said.
"Havesch Su," said the man with a regal aura;.
The first two Earthlings had thus spoken, leaving the last two fumbling for their words.
"I refuse to give my name," I heard the boy say to Eve White and Havesch Su, "They might use it against me!"
It was amusing how paranoid he was.
"I-I am Mira Larkspur!"
A quivering voice spoke from behind Eve White. The bravery that the child displayed made the other Earthling choke on his next words. I then watched as Havesch wrapped his firm arms around the final Earthling's shoulder and grabbed the I.D. that dangled freely around his neck.
"This man is Lior Emberstone," Havesch Su forcefully completed the introductions.
With the sight before us unfolding, I could hear many breaths of relief. Tension had wrapped around the blood vessels of our hearts, acting like a guillotine as we waited. Thankfully, conflict had yet to arise.
Even I couldn't help but sigh.
Thus, we all turned our gaze to the man on the Throne. My father's expression had softened, and he beckoned to us with his hands.
Light and gracious footsteps sounded rhythmically throughout the throne room. My siblings and I thus displayed ourselves to the four Heroes.

"These are my children."
"Cassian, my eldest."
"Elysia, my family's aspiring healer."
"Livia, whose wisdom rivals my own."
"Astraeu, my fourth."
"Marcus, my little genius."
"Amara, whose magic talent was quite the surprise."
"Theron, who wants to wield the sword despite just being able to walk."
"Finally, my twin youngest daughters, Seraphina and Elara, who are still in my wife's arms."
The Emperor addressed us with surprising warmth.
"My children, show these Heroes your sincerity."
A bow was elicited from us all. Although a few of my siblings found it odd that we had to bow to people not of royal blood, they found solace in the fact that they were Heroes chosen by the Gods.
Shortly following our display of grace, the applause of the surrounding audience of officials and leaders echoed throughout the room.
...
Eve feared for her life but at the same time, there was a sparkle in her eyes.
The things that she had read in novels had come true. Transmigration! After a weird magic circle appeared beneath her feet, she had been transported into a different world!
The experience could only be described by the word, 'bizarre,' and nothing else.
She looked at the man whose authority could shake her soul, sitting on the Throne with eyes that seemed like it could pierce through everything. She looked at the Emperor's children; their beauty stunned her silly. It was like looking at celebrity-grade faces accompanied by an aura that could crush the confidence of any weak wills.
As an orphaned girl whose only future in life had been to work until she died, this influx of bizarre was a wonderful sign. She had pinched herself again and again, and she found herself far from waking up from any dream. She could barely contain her excitement.
Especially with the screen floating within her vision.

"Now,"
Eve was startled out of her reveries when the Emperor's voice sounded once more.
"Let us proceed with the business at hand. It is my duty as the Emperor to inform you of your own duties and guide you forward."
The Emperor snapped his fingers, and a group of wizards shuffled forward. Their voices twisted into incantations, and a force began to congregate towards them. There was a swirl of magical energy as streams upon streams of mana began to manifest before their very eyes.
Eve's eyes sparkled, and her excitement was further supplemented.
Suddenly, the air shook, and an image appeared above the wizards' heads.
Eve looked onward with curiosity, noticing that Havesch Su, Lior Ember, and Mira Larkspur also did the same. Their different expressions and conflicting emotions were pulled into a whirlpool of intrigue.
Why exactly had they been summoned? That question droned in their minds incessantly and defiantly. Was the endeavour truly worth the disruption of their lives?
Lior, in particular, seemed to despise the fact that he was here. He was looking for a reason to rebel. A reason to fight back no matter what.
However, the scenes that appeared in the image stunned him.
Carnage and havoc.
Destruction and death.
Those concepts consumed his mind as he watched the massacre of cities. Tortured men and women screamed out until no voice could come out of their throats. Children were slain without mercy, and human flesh had become a delicacy to those who could raise them like cattle.
Even the Emperor's audience was stunned by the gruesome sights before them.
"Just what—"
An official trembled in his spot.
"Be silent and watch,"
The Emperor boomed once more.
"This is a prophecy, and the sole reason why these four Heroes stand before us right now. The Gods had foreseen catastrophe. You, of all people, should know what it means for such an event to occur."
The official gulped. With how many territories he had to manage, he knew how difficult it was to control the aftermath of a natural calamity. War was even more difficult to supplement.
Should the scenes before his eyes come true, the world would truly end. The Empire would fall.
And so, everyone in the room watched in silence. Accepting the horrors that were predicted to come. In their hearts, each of them had begun to make resolutions.
Each of their eyes flashed in the blood-tinged lighting that shone from the images.
What was going on in their minds would be unknown to anyone but them.
