> From Lai,
> (From Lai,)
>
> It's been quite a while, my dear Lennox.
>
> I'd received your letter past due, and for that I apologize. I sent this letter to reply and address a few of my concerns.
>
> Please, head to one of my estates- I can guarantee your safety. So do your utmost best to not die until the day I permit you to.
>
> That's an order, my dearest Lennox.
>
> You know me well, but you're cryptic as ever. Quite the unfair trade, isn't it? I cannot believe that you're a friend who's close to my heart, yet you do not let me cling.
>
> Don't you DARE reason out with me and tell me that it is because of the position I hold.
>
> Moving onwards. We must discuss the situation of current attacks of the five neighboring countries, but don't they sound adorable- trying to pick a fight with the Empire all of a sudden?
>
> I wonder what sort of goal they have, if not the throne, what is within our Empire that they had the guts to foolishly risk the lives of their men to push through our border citadels. Pathetic fools.
>
> Hoping you'd be here soon. I'll prepare your most favored dish and tea; I think that's enough of my bribery.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
A smirk painted on my face would be left, as I gently let down the smooth parchment on my dresser. Anyone who'd see what I see, would agree that I'm such a sight- with dark eyes that reflect the soil when met by the sun's light, a pair of brows that shows kindness- ironically enough, and a smile so warm along a squinting pair of eyes.
I'd brush my hair aside, seeing that it had reached my waist, a grunt would escape as I try to tie it all up in a messy bun.
My eyes wandered to where the letter from Lai had sat, and held it up to take a proper look.
"How nifty.. a journal huh, I guess she wants a memoir of her dear friend."
With the swing of my index finger, my ring shimmered a dim light as the journal went on its way into my satchel. I'd look at the mirror once more and stare intently.
"Mellinoe, be at peace."
I'd reassure myself once more to have a little faith in what's ahead of me. Looks like I'll be walking myself to your embrace God of Death. Is what I thought, letting out a chuckle before I grabbed my satchel and hopped out of my office which also served as my bedroom for the past years of my life.
Here goes everything. I set foot into all the rooms of my household, it really was a good idea to ask all the maid and foreman to clean before they leave with their retirement funds. I unconsciously had gone through my routine after my short dramatic monologues in each room, the breakfast I liked, just soft-boiled eggs, pepper and soy sauce at the side, and of course, rice!
Guess you only ever appreciate the normal things when they're close to being fragments of one's memory and past. I better meet my crew.
