Eben starts, "Five Ancient beings were chosen to create a team of humans with enhanced abilities. These abilities will peak in the 16th year of their existence. The purpose of this team is to complete missions that will benefit mankind for centuries to come. Two of these humans were born in the Southern Hemisphere, that would be you and I by the way, and two were born in the Northern Hemisphere. I was sent to find the one destined to lead."
I stare blankly at him after this revelation.
It takes a while for my gray matter to shift into a state of comprehension. "You mentioned that you were sent to find the one destined to lead, who would that be?" I ask.
"That would be you," he grins knowingly.
"WHAT?!" I yell.
"Yes, predicted by the Ancients thousands of years before and cannot be shifted to another," he explains.
I am hyperventilating.
"Calm down, Fast one, you were created for a time such as this," he soothes.
"What's your enhanced ability?" I ask.
"I can read minds and jump really, really high," he answers.
My cheeks are the color of beetroot as I'm recapping all the thoughts I've been having about him from our very first introduction, so embarrassing!
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
He laughs and says sheepishly, "I never paid too much attention to my hazel brown eyes, snow-white teeth or beautiful lips. However, I would like to be admired for my character,"
I'm trying to control my erratic heartbeat. I quickly ask, "Have you met the Northerners?"
He shakes his head and answers, "I only know their enhanced abilities. They are known as the one with strength and the one who heals. The missions will only commence once the Spearhead is revealed,"
I am almost sure my brain is about to explode, splattering across the whole field. I close my eyes, an unexplainable peace seeps through my veins. I'm reeling in the overflow as my eyes flutter open.
"I am stepping into uncharted waters, unable to see the horizon ahead. But I'm willing, willing to become who I was born to be..." I say breathlessly.
I am subdued on our way to Stace's home. Stace, Li and I are hooked in, arm in arm, as usual. The boys are trailing behind us.
While holding an imaginary microphone, Li asks, "Miss Brown, are you ready for the inter-schools this week?"
"Yeah, I am," I say.
"And Mr. Carolissen, are you prepared? I believe you are quite the jumper according to my sources," she continues.
"How reliable are your sources?" he questions.
"They have been keeping me up to date with newsworthy material for the past few weeks already, so I'd say very reliable. Which brings me back to you, Miss Brown," she says, turning to face me.
"You caused quite a stir at prac today with your insane speed, how come you didn't mention any of that, Coco?" she enquires.
"It's no big deal, I was just faster than usual," I reply.
"Not according to my sources, they say you moved like --" Eben cuts in and asks, "How about we take a detour? I'll treat you all to burgers at MacDonald's,"
I mouth "Thank you," He winks in return.
