Piracy for many centuries had occupied the minds of every sailor, from simple fishing people to enormous fleets of kingdoms, and destroyed many a promising journey by capturing their ships, robbing them off any treasure, and burning down what still was left thus leaving all surviving crew to drown. The Seven Seas had become the realm of that merciless breed and crossing them was gambling with one's life. But luckily for all those poor creatures who did not rest one hour for fear of encountering those terrifying fellows with their well-known skull flags, cannons, and rum soaked songs, when unprepared, the glorious days of pirates are long ago by now since the last corners of the globe have been discovered, mapped and visited by now thus robbing pirates off their secret hiding places. The world simply had become too small for successful piracy in the original, romantic, sense of the word.
