After they finished shopping for furniture Owari was practically broke, as was Noel. Owari had been lacking money a lot recently. He could only imagine what this would be like had he not done all that prep work before. He would have never been able to afford all of this. This thought made him feel quite satisfied with himself for putting in all that effort before.
Once all that was done Noel and Owari spent the next week speaking to various people about setting up the wedding including the Luna family. They had long agreed to host the wedding. There was nothing but benefits. They had also already spoken to Noel during the time Owari was away about his goal.
They understandably panicked a bit. They hadn’t expected Owari to want to bring down an entire family. However Noel was quite the skilled negotiator. She managed to secure their support at the right moments. In exchange they were given help in becoming recognized as a family due to the Silverblood family. They could also use this chance to mingle among Owari’s various allies who are all desirable people to associate with.
Not only had they secured the Luna families help, but the Aquila family, Vermillion family, Yellowstone Agency, Amethyst Agency, Sapphire Agency, and finally the Amber Agency all agreed to help. Of course that was mostly after learning he had the ability to train people to reach from low gold to low platinum in only a few months if given free rein. It was a speed unheard of before.
Of course there was a reason nobody had succeeded like Noel and Owari had. That all laid with the fact that there were two of them. Not only did that make the training safer, but the people training would feel more at ease which led to less mistakes. On top of that the way Noel and Owari acted so casually and their general interactions helped put the trainees at ease. Plus they had trained proud people who would never give up. If someone doesn’t want to grow they can’t grow no matter what you do. But for those unwilling to give up it’s easy to push them to their breaking point. It also helped that Noel and Owari used Kent as a practice dummy before and found what did and didn’t work.
In the end Owari was able to get a number of supporters. The best part was that the Osiris family had no idea it was Owari planning their downfall. Only the leaders of each faction knew who was the ringleader. The members of the factions all assumed it was a group effort and so did the spies among each group. Because of this the Osiris agency began to reign in their behavior. This was because nobody came to their aid. They had no allies in this fight.
Owari casually walked along the streets with Noel, planning their wedding as if none of those things were his problem. When he was with Noel like this those things didn’t matter. All that mattered was him and her. He didn’t even think about those things for a moment and seriously focused on planning their wedding which was going to happen in half a month.
Time passed and soon the week-long wait was over. Noel and Owari made their way to their new house. For now they still used the family car driven by Morgana. When they arrived they looked around the place. The house was rather big, much bigger than any house within the city could be. They walked inside and looked at the living room. There was a standard couch flanked by a few chairs with a coffee table in front of the couch. They were all green and covered in floral patterns. Their house was very inspired by nature.
Next they went to the kitchen to make sure all the home supplies worked. The room was filled with rather standard kitchen appliances, however they were all up to date. There was a fridge, stove and oven combo, and a nice new sink in the counter. There were a number of cupboards for storing dishes and non-refrigerated foods. Noel looked at each in turn. When she got to the cupboards she looked at all of the dishes one by one to make sure there were no problems. Owari watched from the side with a smile.
“What’s that smile for?” Noel asked after finishing up.
“Nothing. I was just thinking you already look like a wife.” Owari chuckled.
“Soon I won’t just look like one.” Noel walked over and gave him a kiss. “Let’s look at the rest of the house.”
Next they checked the dining room which was next to the kitchen and living room. It had a table made of treant wood purchased from the nearby lumber mill. It was designed with wave patterns and had a blue finish to it. There were six matching chairs around it. Two on each side, and one at each end. There were also glass display cabinets to the sides for placing talking pieces for guests. Both Noel and Owari were very satisfied.
Next they checked the two spare bedrooms, they were very sparse. A single bed, a nightstand, and a closet. “Morgana. You can stay here for now.” Noel said much to the maid’s surprise. “It will be inconvenient to have you live so far away. We plan to build a separate guest house on the property which you can stay in. We plan to have a few such houses for people who are visiting.”
“I would gladly do so. To be close to my lady is my duty after all.” Morgana bowed. She wanted to refuse, but it was true that it would be inconvenient to be so far apart.
“Alright. Next is the master bedroom.” Noel led Owari there. She was quite excited whereas Owari was just happy to see her having so much fun.
The master bedroom had a green and yellow gradient paint scheme which made it feel warm and cozy. The queen sized bed was in the middle of the rather large room. It has fine sheets and a large comfortable green blanket. There was only a single long pillow at the head of the bed, there was no need for two since they slept so closely together anyway. There were two nightstands on either side of the bed, one for each. There was a dresser and wardrobe on one side of the bedroom, with the large closet next to them. It was a very practical compact layout.
Next were the bathrooms. Of which there were two. One was a standard bathroom that was located near the front of the building. The other was a master bathroom only accessible through the master bedroom. It had a tub designed for two people, as well as a separate shower off to the side. The rest of the room was state of the art and it had floral pattern tiles. It was quite beautiful considering it was just a bathroom.
Finally was the study. It was just beside the bedroom and away from the living room for maximum privacy. Inside were a number of bookshelves lining the wall, each made of treant lumber. At the back of the room was a mahogany desk meant to look good more than to be sturdy. It was still tough enough, but not as tough as the shelves showing what was more important to its owners. The desk had a number of drawers for storing paperwork and miscellaneous items. Owari smiled and nodded. He was very satisfied.
“That should be everything.” Noel said with a sigh. “When should we move in?”
“How about tomorrow? I’ll haul my books here over the night, meanwhile you should clean up your old place and pack everything. Then we can bring it all over here during the night along with my books and be done by the morning.” Owari suggested.
Noel nodded. “I heard living together is the ultimate test of a relationship.” She said offhandedly.
“Then we have no problem. We stay together all the time.” Owari shrugged.
“True enough.” Noel replied. They already didn’t hide much from one another. They were quite open about their normal routines when they stayed together. It helped that they were generally tidy and methodical people.
“Well we should get to work packing. I’ll rent a trailer and start getting my books loaded up. Once I bring them all over I’ll go pick you and your stuff up. It's too bad we can’t move out our beasts yet until we get the fencing in place to show people not to mess with our property.” Owari sighed, that was going to take some time, but he could do it without breaking a sweat which was good.
“Let’s go then.” Noel agreed and the two made their way out and back to town.
On the way back Owari discovered he had acclimated to his metal affinity and unlocked his new spirit art. He decided to test it later though. He was busy for now. As for how the moving went, it was very smooth. Once Owari unloaded his books he immediately got Noel and came back. She loaded all her clothes into the wardrobe and closet. Meanwhile Owari took the dresser drawers for his clothes which were more plain and thus needed less care than some of Noels more elaborate clothing. She had a number of dresses and such so she needed the hangers.
While she did that Owari went about categorizing his books and loading them onto the shelves. He even kept a list that would allow him to easily discover where a book he needed was. There were a number of shelves, there was enough space for a few hundred books. He only had close to a hundred so he was able to fill only a portion of the shelves. Looking at the empty shelves he frowned. It was around this time Noel walked in.
“Who would have thought you had so few books. Your old room made it look like you had infinite books.” Noel walked over to him and leaned against him.
“I should get some more when I have extra money.” Owari sighed.
“Luckily now my whole paycheck is free to spend how we like. It isn’t a lot but it’ll make for a good bonus for us.” Noel obviously didn’t mind sharing her pay with Owari. It was the same the other way around. If either needed money and the other had it they would openly share.
“We should open a joint account to have a card around for emergencies.” Owari suggested eliciting a nod and agreement from Noel.
Next they went into their new room. It was late and they were somewhat tired. Not physically or even mentally, it was more like a satisfied type of sleepiness that came from accomplishing something after a long time of effort. Noel didn’t bother standing on ceremony and undressed before getting in bed. Owari shook his head and for the first time before going to sleep with Noel he took off his Haori. He neatly folded it and laid it on the nightstand beside his head.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
“That’s a surprise. I rarely see you without that coat of yours.” Noel chuckled. Indeed he wore it almost every moment of the day. It was actually weird seeing him without it.
“I can finally relax fully now that we have the privacy of our own home.” Owari sighed. He even reached down and took off his shirt. He stretched a bit and laid down next to Noel who was quite shocked. “You think you’re the only one more comfortable undressed?” Owari smiled at her surprise.
“Of course not. I just didn’t expect it is all.” She smiled at him mischievously.
Before she could say what she wanted to next, Owari put his finger to her lips. “Just enjoy the moment.” He smiled. She nodded unconsciously and cuddled up to him. They slept more comfortably that night than they had in a while. It truly was different to sleep in your own bed in your own house.
Soon enough time passed as preparations were made and people started to show up. Three were dozens of people who came. Some had even brought an extra person which was allowed. Obviously they had paid for Owari’s mother to come as well. When the day came neither Noel nor Owari were very nervous. They were used to people staring at them so this wouldn’t be much different to them. As for the importance of today instead of making them nervous it only excited them. They both went to deal with their own sides of the wedding.
Owari met up with Lance who he chose as his best man. “So where’s your suit?” Lance asked as he saw Owari approach.
“If anyone thinks I'm not wearing my haori to such an important event they’re crazy.” Owari chuckled.
“I figured as much.” Lance smiled wryly.
“So what’s the plan?” Owari already knew there wasn’t much for him to do. He was already ready for the wedding after all. It was Noel who was meant to be busy at this time.
“There really isn’t one. For now we just wait until Noel is ready.” Lance answered awkwardly.
“Perfect.” Owari laughed. The less he had to do the more likely things were to go smoothly.
Time passed and eventually someone came to tell them to come out now. Owari and Lance walked out of the room and made their way into the ballroom. They walked down the aisle in order with Owari first. After Owari was Lance who was much more awkward than Owari. He wasn’t used to the stares. There were dozens of people, each more important than the last. After those two it was time for the bridesmaids, among which were only Rebecca and Erica. Rebecca was much more composed than Lance, but Erica practically panicking. She wasn’t used to so much attention, but seeing how calm Owari was she forced herself not to let it show.
When everyone saw what Owari was wearing there were two reactions. Those who knew him well nodded as if this was natural, while those who didn’t judged him harshly. However they would never speak such things out loud. Soon enough after that it was time for the flower girl to come through. It just so happened the one who was taking this role was the little girl Rebecca often took care of. She was well mannered and did her job with a smile on her face. She seemed to enjoy the job. After her was the ring bearer, this was her brother, the young boy Rebecca took care of. They were chosen because they had become much more respectful to Owari as they increasingly realized how strong and important he was.
Finally after everyone took their proper positions it was time for Noel to come out. It took a few minutes until the doors opened and Noel entered alongside her very reluctant father. She was wearing a very classy white dress with a wedding veil. It was a very practical but still very beautiful dresses. It was accentuated by her snow white hair and skin.
Eventually after what seemed like forever they made it to the point where she was to be ‘given’ away by her father. He tried his best to resist but he didn’t want to make a fool of himself so he let her go. When he saw this Owari smirked causing Dustin’s eye to twitch in annoyance. Noel ignored both and gracefully walked over to her place across from Owari and the two stared into one another’s eyes, completely ignoring the presence of everyone else in the room.
“You look the same as usual.” Noel spoke gently upon seeing Owari.
“You as well. You’re as beautiful as always.” Noel merely smiled at his words. Long gone were the days of her embarrassment. She was able to listen to such words and enjoy the feelings they gave her without the need to feel anything else.
“We welcome you to this most important of days in the lives of these two young one’s.” The officiant started his speech. “For today they will be wed, we thank you for coming to bear witness to such a union.” After that he droned on for a bit thanking the various visitors in different ways. “The two of them might have met under dire circumstances, but they made the most out of it and their love soon blossomed. Their marriage will cement this love so that all might know the love they share for one another.” Normally this would be here a reading would be done to express their love for one another, but they forgoed such a thing. “This union is a very important one which will reflect upon you for many years to come. The importance of such a day cannot be described with mere words. Please exchange your vows such that the other might know of the importance of such a day.”
After saying this it was time for Noel and Owari to speak to one another and make various promises. However instead they just continued to stare into one another’s eyes. After a few minutes of this and as everyone was getting antsy wondering what was going on, Noel spoke up. “As you said, words cannot describe this. Just as they cannot describe how we feel for one another or what we would do for one another, or what we will do for one another. This is enough to know.”
“Well said.” The officiator was clearly touched by such words. It was rare to find two people so wholly devoted to one another. He had done many weddings and had never seen a bond so strong. “Now you will take your rings and place them upon one another to signify your bond.” Owari was given the ring first and he gently held Noel’s hand as he slipped it on her dainty looking finger. Next she took the ring and did the same. Again they spoke no words. “You may now kiss the bride.” Although the officiant said this it was Noel who threw herself at Owari and kissed him, moving so fast her veil flew back. He had obviously seen this coming and was quite amused. Not that it stopped him from returning the kiss.
With that done it was time for the newlyweds to lead everyone out. In the opposite order they entered, the party of people left the stage. Owari and Noel were arm in arm as they did so. The people stood up and cheered for them, whether they knew them well or not. It was obvious this wedding was something special as nobody expected such intense silence from the two of them. It was a forgone conclusion they would be married, to the point that they refused to allow anyone the option to interrupt such a wedding as it lacked any chance to object.
After all of that was said and done the two of them met up in one room alone for the first time since all of this began. “That was fun.” Noel commented.
“Indeed. You should have seen your father’s face when you threw yourself at me. He was so shocked he had no time to object to anything.” Owari said with amusement.
“Good, that’s why I did it. You would have been too slow and gentle.” Noel knew Owari’s style. He preferred their kisses to be slow, whereas she prefers the spontaneity of a sudden kiss.
“Fair enough.” Owari chuckled. “We should head out soon to deal with the reception party. I’m sure everyone will start quickly. It's a good chance to make friends after all.”
“Let’s go then.” The two made their way out and towards the ballroom again. It was large enough to house both the wedding and the reception afterward.
When they arrived everyone went quiet for a moment. The first one to approach them was unsurprisingly Dustin. As he approached he sighed. “As a father I can never be happy giving away my daughter.” He started. “But among all the people who could have been the one, I can only say I’m glad it wasn’t anyone else.” He had obviously seen how much they cared for one another. He was no fool. So he could only concede this much in the end.
“Thank you.” Owari said genuinely.
“As for you.” He addressed Noel. “Try not to be like your mother.” He said awkwardly and turned to leave.
“Well thanks.” Noel said sarcastically. She hadn’t expected Owari to be given the compliment and her the chiding.
“He just says that because he is bad at expressing himself. He knows you wouldn’t turn out like that.” Owari comforted her.
“I know, but still. It’s my wedding.” She pouted causing Owari to laugh a bit.
Soon enough people came to congratulate them one after the other. It was all very heartwarming. Nobody had anything bad to say, it would be suicide to do so after all. Let alone their individual strength, the sway they had could destroy you. So they were all very careful with their wording, much to Owari and Noel’s amusement. They also briefly met Kent’s fiancee, but other than seeing her and being introduced they didn’t have enough time to talk. There were too many people and too little time.
“I’m glad that’s over.” Owari sighed after everyone had spoken to them.
“I as well.” Noel agreed. She was more used to it due to her duties as the Silverblood representative, but it was no less exhausting.
“Well now we can spend the rest of the time at our leisure.” Owari said as the two went and sat down at one of the tables. A server came by and brought them something to drink. They were quite professional as they offered non-alcoholic drinks which Owari and Noel preferred. Neither was interested in getting drunk after all, not that it would be easy given their constitution.
Soon Rebecca and Lance approached them. “I see you two are doing well.” Rebecca said with a smile.
After she spoke Erica seemed to pop up from nowhere coming out behind them. She went over and sat next to Noel. “I don’t like it here. There’s too many people and they keep looking at me.” She complained. Even though she acted like a kid she was already approaching 15.
“You’re almost a full-blown adult. You should get used to it.” Noel scolded her.
“Don’t wanna.” Erica refused.
“Whatever makes you happy then.” Noel sighed. Erica nodded seriously eliciting a second sigh.
“You two get along well.” Rebecca chuckled.
“What part of this makes you think that?” Noel asks curiously.
“Erica never interacts with someone so openly, she prefers to just listen quietly.” Rebecca explained.
“Even Owari was better than that.” Noel laughed.
“I was still pretty antisocial.” Owari recalled back before moving to the city.
“Who would have thought that we would all come so far?” Lance sighed sentimentally as he sat down.
“We have changed a lot since back then haven’t we?” Rebecca copied Lance with a sigh of her own.
“Lance hasn’t changed much.” Owari pointed out.
“I’ve changed. I’m much more responsible now. I used to be a lot more rebellious.” He refuted.
“You a rebel? You can’t even get a girlfriend. Everyone knows the first thing a rebellious guy does is find a girlfriend.” Rebecca scoffed.
“What’s it with everyone and this girlfriend thing?” Lance sighed. “Why don’t you get a boyfriend?”
“I’ve tried. But they all turn me down.” Rebecca said depressedly as she played with a glass.
“Oh.” Lance was surprised, he always assumed Rebecca had a lot of options. It was only now he recalled Noel telling him otherwise.
“We’re already married but look at you two.” Noel laughed.
“Don’t make fun of us. We’re trying our best.” Rebecca continued to be depressed.
“Go dance you two.” Owari waved towards the dance floor where a few people were dancing to the ambient music.
“Why?” Lance was confused.
“If you want to be lonely, do it together. Then you’ll be less lonely.” He shrugged.
“I’m a terrible dancer.” Lance refused.
“I’m not.” Rebecca stood up and grabbed Lance’s arm yanking him up.
“Hey!” He called out with some surprise. However it was too late and Rebecca was dragging him off.
“Maybe they’ll finally get together.” Owari laughed.
“Maybe. I know I’m tired of listening to Rebecca complain her lack of a love life.” Noel chuckled.
“Lance on the other hand always complains about his stress. He needs someone to vent to other than me.” Owari replied.
“Let’s also dance.” Noel looked over at Owari.
Owari stood up and grabbed her hand, helping her to her feet and leading her over to the dance floor. The two started to dance elegantly and without flaw. “So what brought this on?” Owari asked curiously, Noel didn’t strike him as one interested in dancing.
“You learned to dance when you were younger to do so on your wedding day. How could we let your time go to waste?” Noel smiled mischievously.
“Fair point.” Owari smiled as they continued to dance.
As they danced they attracted a lot of attention as usual. What shocked everyone was just how good they were. The people who knew them expected battle freaks like them to lack any kind of skill at this type of thing. As for those who didn’t know them, they couldn’t help but admire their skill. They looked quite good dancing along to the music. When the music changed they would change the style of dance to match the type of music.
