Beast Killer
Prologue

Prologue

A young man was sitting on the rocky ground. His face was revealing his intense fear. He was holding his knees together with his arms. He was shivering so terribly, that one can say that he will get sick for days, IF HE CAN ESCAPE FROM THIS CAVE.

The cave was certainly ominous, from the entrance to the end. Even the scariest and strongest animals of the wild will not dare enter this place. They, sensing the danger in this cave with their natural instinct, would run away without turning back. But, what scares them, attracts humans. Humans are scared of beings that may take away their superiority. As such, they try to hunt THEM down. But it is no easy feat. Many lost their lives in this job. Some were naïve youngsters who let their guard down, only to get eaten. Others are experienced KILLERS. They, despite having chances to escape, stay back to kill *beasts* so that their comrades can escape. Others, they just get betrayed by their comrades. Such tragic ends. It's ironic, how they lose their lives from a profession, a profession that they chose so that they can live.

A young man is standing in front of the cave. One may think that this person didn't experience any of the above mentioned things, because of the simple fact that he is alive. WRONG. He, in fact, experienced both of the above things. His naïve actions contributed to a tragedy, AND he was backstabbed. Yet, by some twist of fate, he survived. Not only did he escape from falling into hell, he also acquired a reward. One that will help him the most against THOSE THINGS.

Inside the cave, the other person was still hiding in fear. His mind was filled with thoughts similar to that of a dying person. If he doesn't see even a slight chance of escape, he will die from fear alone. On the contrary, if he sees even a sliver of hope, he would be so overjoyed, that he would submit himself to his savior to the rest of his life willingly.

He was trying his best not to cry, so that he wont attract THOSE. But he couldn't hold back for long. Tears started to flow from his eyes. Before he could realise it, small sounds like squeaking escaped his mouth. He felt a sudden jolt passing thorough his body. He realised that he just gave away his position to the BEASTS. He started praying in his mind that those things couldn't have noticed him. But, reality can be quite harsh.

He heard the sound of something walking. Strong steps, and it was getting closer. He gave up. He thought that this was the end of the line. He let it all out. He started crying out. All the emotions that were pent up inside of him burst out. He started crying out loud.

"SAAVEEE MEEE.... AAAHHHHH!!!"

He started crying loudly for help, even though he thought strongly that no one will come to save him. He heard some other footsteps, this time more like that of a human. But, since he was thinking that he was done for, he didn't place much hope in it. He thought that it might just be another beast.

"grrr..."

The beast's sounds got so close, to the point that he could see it. It was an ape-shaped beast, with white fur, visibly sharp claws and long canine teeth that seemed like it could tear a bull into pieces easily. It's bloodshot eyes were fixed on the boy, and it was drooling.

The beast extended it's arm towards the boy. He started crying at the top of his voice for help. The beast's hand rushed towards him. It was happy to find it's food today, and wanted to snatch it away as fast as it could. The hand got close to his head and...

SLASH!!!

"Graaa...!!!"

The hand was on the ground. The ground quickly got covered with the beast's blood. The other young man, who was standing outside of the cave, was now here. He was holding a black sword, now painted with the beast's red blood.

The boy, who was still on the ground, looked up towards the newly arrived stranger. To him, THIS was the slightest hope he needed to survive.

The beast retreated a few steps back. It was alerted by the stranger's arrival, and was surprised at how easily he could slash off it's arm. But at the same time, it was really angry. How could it not be? Someone just took it's food away from him. It looked at the person in front of it furiously. The boy who would've likely become food for the beast if not for this person, was looking with eyes containing admiration.

"Grrr...RAAAAA!!!", the beast charged towards the person, not only because he took it's food, but also because it lost it's arm to that man.

The young man held his sword tightly, and rushed towards the beast. The beast swung it's claws at him. But he skillfully dodged it. "I don't have time to play with you. So please die", he said, after which he swung his sword at the beast's neck.

SPLASH!!!

The boy, still on the ground, was surprised so much that he gasped. The swordsman was completely unharmed. On the contrary, the beast was, without a doubt, DEAD. It's severed head was rolling on the ground.

The boy noticed something when the stranger killed the ape. His slash was fast, but weird. The boy couldn't see the slash really well, but he was sure that that slash was different from how anyone else would attack a beast's neck. It was as if the man in front of him knew exactly where to slash to sever it's head from it's neck..

The man was looking at the boy, and the boy was looking at the man. The boy was looking in admiration. The sword was dripping with the beast's blood, and the swordsman had some of the beast's blood on his cheek too. But despite that, the boy looked at him as if he was an angel sent from heavens.

"Hey boy, you should be more careful when out for demon beast hunting. Don't try to clash with beasts that you can't handle. And if you aren't up for it, don't even choose this job. This is dangerous, you know?"

The man was saying these in a normal tone. Even though the boy heard this he said nothing back. He just stayed on the ground as if he was frozen.

"Tchh... Fine, do what you like. But your naivety may take your life one day."

Saying this, that man turned to leave. Suddenly, the boy asked the man,"Wha... What is your name?".

"Hmm...? My name? My name is Ra... No, Diablo. Diablo is my name. Just Diablo, no surname", he said, as he left the cave. The boy didn't know, that the person in front of him, the person who just saved him, has gone through more than what he can imagine. He didn't know that the person who just saved him was someone walking through the path of revenge.

He didn't know that the person held a big secret that he would have never thought of.
