Chapter 4 - Legendary Awakening

Chapter 4 - Legendary Awakening

The egg continued to crack, the fractures spreading wider until, at last, a small black cat slowly emerged from the broken shell.

It was… an undeniably adorable kitten! Its sleek black fur was accented with fiery orange-red patches that flickered like flames. The kitten’s wide, curious eyes scanned its surroundings.

What made this little creature truly unique, however, was the tiny pair of horns sprouting from its head—a feature that drew everyone's attention.

The crowd stood in hushed awe, captivated by the moment.

Meow...

The kitten’s tiny, soft cry shattered the silence, instantly melting hearts—especially among the female students.

“That kitten is way too cute! I need one just like it!”

“I don’t even care about its rank or grade, I just want it as a pet!”

Erynn furrowed her brows, her eyes shifting toward Kyro.

“A kitten with horns? That’s incredible, isn’t it?”

Kyro studied the little cat for a moment before gently stroking its head. “Hey there,” he murmured softly.

Meow...

A satisfied smile spread across his face. At last, he had his very own Beast—a moment the original Kyro had dreamed of for so long.

To think he had secured such a creature in Eterna Forest, a place known as the realm of high-grade magical beasts, made the achievement all the more remarkable.

Without a second thought, Kyro focused his mind, summoning the beast’s status through a mental command.

[Name: ???]

[Race: Flarehorn Feline]

[Grade: Legendary]

[Element: Dusk Inferno]

The kitten didn’t have a name yet.

And wait…

Wait…

Damn!

Kyro blinked, then looked again, just to make sure his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him.

Legendary grade?!

Motherfuc—!

This was insane! What kind of luck was this? Was this the power of a protagonist?

Even more shocking was the realization that this beast’s grade surpassed even Erynn’s magical beast.

The element Dusk Inferno was nothing short of extraordinary—a unique fusion of Shadow and Fire elements. It wasn’t just powerful; it was devastatingly versatile, capable of unleashing destruction in ways few abilities could rival.

Kyro couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement.

What could this beast accomplish with such a power?

[Dusk Inferno: A potent combination of Shadow and Inferno elements.]

[Shadow Element: Enables the summoning of shadowy tendrils for control and attack, while also allowing the user to meld seamlessly into darkness, becoming nearly invisible to opponents.]

[Inferno Element: Delivers searing inferno damage, incinerating enemies with intense, overwhelming heat.]

[Unified Power: Combines both Shadow and Inferno elements to their fullest potential, creating devastating offensive and tactical capabilities.]

“So, this cat doesn’t have a name yet? How about I call you Noctis? It fits you perfectly and will make it easier for me to give you commands.”

I don’t care about names. I’m hungry. Feed me.

Kyro froze as the kitten’s voice echoed—not in the air, but in his mind.

“This cat can talk?”

Food. I need food, the voice came again.

“It seems you’re impatient,” Kyro said, still processing the situation as the kitten sat calmly.

Around them, the growing crowd had started to whisper and murmur.

“Robert, that cat doesn’t look threatening at all. I bet it’s way weaker than your crow,” someone scoffed.

“If Robert uses his crow, I can’t imagine what that poor kitten would suffer. One screech would probably finish it off.”

“Kyro really has the worst luck in this academy,” a third voice added. “This is his first beast, and it’ll probably get wiped out in an instant.”

“Hahaha!” Robert’s booming laughter echoed. “Have you had enough fun admiring your adorable little kitten? Both the beast and its tamer are equally useless.”

Kyro stood firm. At his side, Erynn stepped forward silently.

“So, what are you going to do with that kitten?” Robert continued. “You’d be better off taking it home and feeding it. Poor thing must be freezing.”

I hate that fat boy and his bird. I want to eat them.

Noctis’ growling voice echoed in Kyro’s mind.

“Be patient just a little longer, Noctis.”

“Robert!” someone in the crowd called out. “Quit stalling and just do it already! I want to see that idiot’s ears bleed!”

Robert raised his hand, ready to issue his command, but before he could speak, the atmosphere shifted dramatically.

A dark aura suddenly erupted from the kitten, twisting and writhing like living shadow tendrils. They stretched outward, moving erratically as if seeking something—or someone.

“What’s going on?” a voice from the crowd exclaimed.

“Why does it suddenly look so... strange?”

“This... this isn’t normal darkness.”

“Did it just activate its ability?”

“But what kind of ability could do this?”

“Kyro, what’s happening?” Erynn asked.

As one of the academy’s top students, Erynn had studied extensively about beasts and their abilities, especially those of higher grades. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to piece together what she was witnessing.

“What kind of beast did you get?” she asked again.

Kyro smirked. “I’ll explain later, Erynn. And thank you… For taking me to Eterna Forest.”

[Dusk Inferno has been activated.]

Noctis’s small body began to grow, expanding rapidly until it was the size of a puppy. The kitten leapt gracefully to the ground.

Its sleek black fur shimmered. Sharp, curved horns sprouted further, becoming longer. A dark aura of shadows and flames enveloped Noctis completely.

In an instant, the same aura reached Kyro, wrapping around him. His entire body became cloaked in faint shadowy flames.

Kyro’s lips curled into a faint smile.

Around him, the gathered students held their breath, their gazes locked on the extraordinary sight.

None of them could have imagined that the seemingly harmless kitten from moments ago would evolve into a legendary force of nature.

Noctis, its fur glowing faintly, let out a low, rumbling growl.

Even Robert, standing with his Epic-grade crow, felt the weight of the oppressive aura.

“What kind of beast is that?” Robert muttered. “Do you really think it scares me? Not at all!”

“Do you think so?” Kyro replied coolly. “Because I don’t see that courage in your eyes.”

Taking a deliberate step forward, Kyro’s tone dropped. “Now, Robert, I won’t let you back down.”
