Bastion: King of Kings - Prologue
“Thank you for listening” Said the fellow classmate who just finished her presentation and walked off with shaky legs and an abnormal breathing rate. Her presentation was complete garbage and did not make any sense whatsoever, she will probably still pass just because she went up in front of the class and spoke for a couple of minutes. The facts she used were complete nonsense and I could say she made them all up, she probably thought that everyone in the class is not knowledged about world history but she must have forgotten that I was in this class.
I raise my hand into the air and get the teacher’s attention and tell her that we are supposed to be asking questions at the end, to which she can only agree and request that the girl come back.
The girl in question sits directly behind me, and she had almost gotten in her seat if it weren’t for my intrusion. Her face turned paler after hearing what I had to say and she bumped into me intentionally as she passed to go stand behind the podium again. Flipping my pencil in my hand and fixing my glasses, I look around the class with a smile on my face, no one was raising their hand so it was my lone playing field now. The girl at the front was staring daggers into me, but that just made me happier as I dramatically raised my hand in the air.
My hand stayed raised and the girl did not ask me, so the teacher had to take over and ask me to say my questions in her stead. It then commenced from their on!
“I am afraid to tell you that the dates you had told us were wrong, since in 1766 BC and not 1576 BC the Shang dynasty founded, or as you like to call it ‘Ancient China’” Taking a breathe to allow the girl to soak up all this new information that she had gotten wrong, I continued.
“Also, the first emperor of your “Ancient China” was not Gaozu, he was the founder and first emperor of the Han Dynasty but he wasn’t the emperor who unified China. The first was Qin Shih Huang to complete the conquest of all the other states, and it wasn’t 220 AD since that year was the fall of the Han dynasty, it was 221 BC that China became one under emperor Qin” I told the uneducated female standing nervously at the front, and let the silence overwhelm the class.
To my amazement, it wasn’t the silence of how wrong the girl was but because I had corrected her.
“So what is your question?” The girl stuttered, bringing laughter to the class as I became the center of attention like always.
Thankfully I was saved by the bell as everyone quickly forgot all about the presentation and started rushing out of class, leaving me alone to sit in peace. I grab my bag and take a look out the window where rain poured down with impact similar to hailstone, freakish. I walked towards the indoor gymnasium of the school and walked into the staff room of the gym department, the teachers were packing their bags to leave for the night but one was just sitting on his chair. As soon as he saw me approach he brightened up and said hello, I replied with my usual greeting.
Stolen story; please report.
“Go get changed first and we will speak about your training for today” He said before walking in the direction of the indoor pool.
Oh, it’s swimming today and not running. I guess with all that rain outside there is no point in going outside, meaning that the girls only running club must be cancelled then. It’s good that I won’t be forced to doing anything intense today then, since I had to beat every single girl in that club in a hundred meter race, but it wasn’t that bad since they were pretty sluggish.
After getting changed and getting my hair wet in the shower, I made my way to the indoor pool whilst putting on my swimming cap.
“Alright girls!” I heard the familiar female running club teacher instructing her pupil…
What are they doing over there? This is the indoor pool that I am supposed to be using! I run around the corner and get blinded by the bright lamps that were recently replaced.
“There you are!” My teacher came over and stood in front of me, stopping the blinding light.
I look around him and see the running team in their swim attire using the pool, while their teacher is on the pathway at the side telling them what to do. My teacher gained a smirk on his face after seeing me do that, he then told me to jump in the pool and get warmed up. I questioned him about his decision in making me share the pool with a bunch of women, to which he just pointed at the other teacher and told me to ask her instead, which I did after walking up to her.
“Mrs.Running Teacher, why are your club members sharing my facilities? Don’t tell me Mr.Coach has not told you that I need to get prepared for my upcoming world-tournament?” I asked her with a fierce glare to which she just chuckled and pushed me into the pool.
Raising up from the water I glared at her even harder and told her that what she did is a form of violence, and is not allowed in school. The girls around me stared at me and started whispering to each other, probably making fun of me for doing something “unusual” again. However, I don’t have the time for sweet talk and just looked at their teacher once more for an answer.
“How could I not know about you, the legendary student?” The teacher remarks before continuing, “My girls will surely benefit if they trained alongside an all-star, so I requested that you be put into...” I couldn’t be bothered with her anymore and started swimming lengths to get warmed up. It’s all because Mr.Coach betrayed me that I need to train alongside girls now, what a douchebag.
“Do you want to leave?” A voice entered my head, and the world froze around me into darkness.
