Chapter 290

CHAPTER 290

Rachael had lost a house, three million dollars, fell apart with Brian, and all that she got in return was Alex becoming Young Master Alex!

How was she supposed to accept this?!

Like a crazed person, she shoved at Emory as she stretched out her hand to pull Alex. "Alex, you can't be a b*stard who doesn't even recognize your biological father just because you covet wealth and status. You must come home with me! Come here! "

Madeline couldn't help the frown on her face when she witnessed this, and she instructed Emory, "Please send her out, and tell the guard at the entrance that there is no need to announce her arrival if she ever comes again. She is not welcomed here."

Despite Madeline saying that the mother-daughter duo were to be 'sent out', they were, in fact, dragged out by force by a few bodyguards.

After the bodyguards threw them out the door and had it closed in their faces, Rachael started banging on the door with all her might.

Still, no one bothered to come to her.

Even the guard at the entrance only stood upright, his eyes coldly peering at her without moving a muscle.

She continued to hit the door until she lost all her energy and slipped to the ground as she wailed in tears.

She had lost.

It was an utter defeat on her part.

With all her heart, Rachael had wanted to keep Alex in check in hopes to raise the boy into a cowardly good-for-nothing. She had even hoped that he would suffer a serious illness or have an accident and die from it. That was the one way she could make sure that Brian was left with only the son and daughter born out of her womb.

Everything that belonged to Brian was bound to go to her children some day.

And when that time came, Brian would finally realize that the children he had with her were the best he could ever have, whereas the child he had with Yuri was nothing but trash who wanted his money.

But now, Rachael's plans had completely fell through.

Not only did she lose a house, three million in cash and Brian's love for her, she had also sent Alex into a wealthy family. He was now the child of a wealthy family, and now had a 'Young Master' title to his name.

It was Rachael who single-handedly made Alex who he was today.

If only she was a little nicer to Alex and had let him eat and drink his fill while she took better care of him, the boy wouldn't have been entrusted to Madeline and become the young master of a wealthy family who took him in.

Rachael hated how cruel fate was.

She couldn't help mourning about how much she had lost.

It didn't sit right with her how Alex, who had such a wonderful life, was the reason her own children were repressed.

What were her children and her going to do if there ever came a day in the future when Alex wanted revenge on her after gaining the power to do so?

The more she thought about it, the more she refused to accept the fact. Feeling her blood run cold, she finally wrapped her arms around her head as she cried her heart out.

It broke Laine's heart to see her daughter acting this way, and she huddled to her side to pour her words of comfort.

She only picked Rachael up from the ground and left after Rachael had lost all her strength from crying.

After Rachael left, Madeline reassured Alex for a long time to remind him to not take Rachael's words to heart.

"I understand, Aunt Madeline," Alex replied. "I know that my stay here is causing you trouble. I will grow big as soon as I can, and when I am an adult, I will make sure I take care of you!"

Madeline was at a loss for words as she couldn't help the weird feeling crawling inside her when Alex repeatedly said he would take care of her when she grew older, even though she was still a young

woman now.

"I know that you are a good boy." Madeline smiled and patted him on his hair. "You must always remember that your grandmother has paid me money that allows you to live here rightfully. You don't have to care about what anyone else says. You must tell me if anyone ever bullies you, okay? You can't keep it to yourself."

Hearing that, Alex gave a sharp nod and answered, "I got it, Aunt Madeline."

"Alright, off you go." She patted him and spoke to all three of the children. "Practice for a while longer. I'll go and make fruit juice for you children. You can stop practicing when I bring the juice over. "

"Alright!" Even though Joel didn't have a big appetite, he was still the most gluttonous one among the three. He continued to cheer in a sickly sweet voice. "The juices that Mommy makes are the yummiest!"

Amused, Madeline lightly flicked him on his forehead.

The child let out a series of giggles as he covered his forehead with one hand, and he went and held Quincy as he pulled him toward the gymnasium. "Let's go, Aldo and Alex. We have to go practice martial arts!"

Quincy couldn't help the upward curl of the corners of his lips when he saw Joel didn't hold Alex, but only held his hand.

His silly and sweet younger brother liked everyone, and ever since Alex came to their house, little Joel had been very enthusiastic about Alex. Quincy had always felt unhappy about how his brother would

go on and on about Alex.

Now that Joel only held Quincy's hand and not Alex's, Quincy's mood suddenly lifted and he, too, waved Alex over. "Come on, Alex!"

He might be young, but he was a mature child.

As this wasn't Alex's home, Quincy knew that Alex would feel bad, or even feel like an outcast if his attitude toward Alex was too cold.

That was why he still accepted Alex with an open heart even though he felt uncomfortable seeing his silly brother sticking to Alex. Quincy tried his best to make Alex understand that even though the former was a boy of few words, Alex was welcomed to live in their house.

It was because Alex was a pitiful child.

He was even more pitiful than Quincy and Joel were before they reunited with Sebastian.

They might not have had a father then, but they at least had their mommy, who happened to be the best mother in the world.

She had always loved them and treated them like her babies.

Even though they didn't have a father, they were the happiest children on earth.

Alex, on the other hand, had nothing.

Not only was his mother missing, his father was technically someone whose presence or absence didn't make much difference.

Wait. Quincy stopped his train of thought. Alex does have something. He has an evil stepmother who abuses him.

How tragic Alex's life was!

And so, he didn't mind having Alex stay with them.

After all, it was more lively at home with three boys.

Well, actually, Quincy didn't like it when it got noisy.

But Joel liked it, and everything was fine by Quincy as long as his younger brother liked it.

It was the weekend today, but Sebastian was away as usual.

He had been so preoccupied with a new project the Hart Corporation had recently launched that he had worked overtime for a few days. He couldn't even take time to rest on the weekends.

Everything at work had been going fine for Madeline, so she focused on the children and spent the whole day with them, taking good care of them.

Still, Sebastian was not home yet even after she had tucked Quincy and Joel in.

Already accustomed to it, she kept a wall lamp lit as she waited for him while she read a book. exclusive content.

She was used to going to bed only after he had come home. She could keep waiting on and on no matter how late it was.

Even though she didn't know the reason she insisted on doing so, she only did what she felt like she had to.

It was a little over 12AM when her phone started going off.

Reaching out for her phone, she threw a glance at it, and pressed it to her ear when she saw Sebastian's name flashing across the screen. "Hey," she greeted.

"Maddie…" The man's voice rang out low and throaty, making him sound more sensual than he usually did. "I am in the study room. Come over."

"Study room?" She was slightly surprised. "Is something the matter?"

"Yes. You will see when you come," he breathed.

"Okay. I will be there in a second."
