CHAPTER TWO: A NEW EVIL

CHAPTER TWO: A NEW EVIL

Halfway across the world, there traveled a magician named Hal who was hard at work entertaining children at a birthday party. He loathed his job, but he loved magic. The day the meteor hit, Hal was about to perform an amazing illusion when the soundwave struck him, tossing him through the crowd of kids and onto the open field, he got up feeling very ill. He went home in a bad mood, feeling frustrated and defeated losing out on the rest of his pay for some freak incident.

Over the next few weeks, Hal's condition worsened. He was constantly nauseous and his body felt like it was on fire. He couldn't eat or sleep, and he was in a lot of pain. He was sure that he was dying. But then, something strange happened. Hal started to feel better. His nausea disappeared and his strength returned. He felt better than he had in years. When he looked in the mirror, he was shocked to see that his appearance had changed as well. His skin was smoother and his muscles were more defined. He looked like a new man.

While looking in the mirror, things started to become weird, the mirror started to shatter in many places, as Hal turned to run away, the door broke apart in his hand, the room on the other side which should have been his bedroom, it was a small meadow with a shallow pond. Hal, disoriented and feeling dizzy, steps forward into the meadows only to start falling endlessly in a void. Hal begins to calm his breath, realizing panicking will get him nowhere, he begins to meditate, there seems to be no ground in sight, Hal feels his body slowly come to a gentle stop, rotating him in an upright position, he lands softly on the ground, he looks through a window staring back inside to the mirror, no longer shattered, Hal opens the window and crawls through it appearing in his bedroom.

It was then that Hal realized that he had developed powers. At first, he was amazed by what he could do, but he soon realized that he could use his abilities for more nefarious purposes. Hal became obsessed with power and control, using his powers to manipulate and deceive others. He knew that he could become a master illusionist with the right training

Hal spent the next few months experimenting with his powers. He discovered that he could make lifelike illusions, so he created a small shark in his bathtub and a giant 12 foot Parrot to sit on his porch. Hal figured out how to break reality for a short bit, allowing him to enter an alternate dimension that only he is able to access, this was all great, however, Hal knew that he had to be careful. If anyone found out about his powers, he could be in danger. He decided to keep his abilities a secret, at least for now. He would use his powers only when it was necessary, and only for his own gain.

Hal was determined to become the greatest illusionist the world had ever seen, and he was willing to do whatever it took to achieve his goal. He was no longer just a simple magician, he was a powerful being with the ability to bend reality itself. And he intended to use that power to his advantage. At first, he struggled to understand and control his abilities, but he was determined to master them. He spent hours practicing, trying to figure out what he was capable of.

Hal used his powers to perform magic shows and trick people out of their money. He would make people see and hear things that weren't really there, and he would convince them to give him money in exchange for his "services." It was a lucrative business, but Hal's deceptive tricks eventually got him into trouble with the UK.

Fearing for his safety, Hal decided to flee the country and start over. He chose to return to his hometown of Salina, Oklahoma in the United States. He hoped that he could lay low and rebuild his life, but he knew it wouldn't be easy.

As soon as he arrived in Salina, Hal made a beeline for his old stomping grounds. He hadn't been back in years, but he knew that there were still plenty of people who remembered him. He was eager to reconnect with his old friends and allies, and he hoped that they would be able to help him get back on his feet.

Hal didn't have to look far to find his old gang of misfits. They were still hanging out in the same places, doing the same things they had always done. Hal was relieved to see that they were still together, and he was eager to join them.

“Hey guys, long time.” Hal said to the gang.

Hal's old gang was delighted to see him, and they welcomed him back with open arms. They were thrilled to hear about Hal's experience in Europe. Hal had something to explain to the guys, he asked them to meet him somewhere around dark. Hal sat down with his old crew members, Mike, Tony, and Francine, in a dimly lit bar on the outskirts of town. They were a rough-looking bunch, but Hal knew he could trust them. Mike was a mechanic, pals with Hal since they were young, Tony came in a little while later in life to join the team followed by Francine, Tony’s sister and Hal’s former love interest.

"Alright guys, I've got a plan," Hal began, his voice low and serious. "I've got a new set of powers, and I need your help to take over this place."

Mike raised an eyebrow. "What kind of powers are we talking about here, Hal?"

"I'm an illusionist," Hal explained. "I can create anything I can imagine, and make it real. It's like magic, but it's real."

Francine whistled in amazement. "That's some serious power. How are you planning to use it?"

"I'm going to take the city's mayor hostage, and use him as leverage to take control of the entire state," Hal replied. "But I can't do it alone, I need you guys with me."

Tony nodded slowly. "I'm in, but we're going to need a solid plan if we want to pull this off."

"Leave that to me," Hal said, a sly smile creeping across his face. "I've got everything under control, Tony, get everyone you can think of to help with the chaos about to unfold."

“Yeah sure boss, you got it, I’ve got old Dan Suey and his entire cousins militia to help, it’ll be no problem.” Said Tony in an excited but fearful voice.

Together, Hal and his gang of misfits began to plot and plan, drawing up the elaborate scheme. They needed capital though, they knew they wouldn’t get too far with any plan without cash, so they took a little time to figure out a plan. At first they would do magic to trick folks out of their pocket change, trying to keep a low profile until the big day, however as the days went by, Hal and his gang grew more and more ambitious. They hatched elaborate schemes to rob banks, stage heists, and generally wreak havoc in the city. Hal realized that if they want to complete the takeover soon, they would need to move faster and think bigger and to forget about the petty trouble they might get into. Hal was enjoying himself more than he had in years, and he was excited to see what the future held.
