The Beginning

They stand quietly in the back corner as they watch all the girls in class. Most of the time it is them sitting and waiting for everyone else but today they were late so Yuki decided to just sit next to them while Sairen sat at the front of class with the other boys.

After a few more seconds their instructor walks out followed by some other people. Everyone else take their seats and listen to the lesson as he explains about today's lesson.

"Now we will talk about your first test." The instructor says.

A boy from the back stands up.

"I want to try learn more magic! Please can I be your personal student!" He exclaims happily.

He seems very excited to be here but Sairen knows it is not going to last.

Everyone turns their attention to him and his teacher nods.

"Yes but remember this isn't something that is easy." The teacher starts.

"No one has ever completed an exam easily before because they don't have mass amount of power."

The boys face falls.

"That means you have to spend a lot of time practicing and studying." His teacher continues.

His eyes light up once again.

"Really? Can I go practice now?" The boy asks eagerly.

"No, you have to wait until the end of the school day. Now if there is no more questions for me or any students please go get your books and start reading them over." The teacher smiles.

The boy sighs dejectedly.

Yuki pats Sairen's shoulder gently to get his attention.

"You're gonna do fine." She whispers.

Sairen gives her a soft smile and leans into the touch.

The bell rings and everyone starts moving towards the front.

"Come on we'll get food." Yuki offers.

They walk outside and look around.

"Hey do you remember where the cafeteria is, it's been a long summer break?" Sairen asks.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Yeah its the place right across from the library, let's go there," Yuki answers.

They walk through the courtyard and head inside the cafeteria.

"Do you think Mai and Yuna will show up?" Sairen asks.

"It's a magic academy after all, I'm sure everybody will come." Yuki responds confidently.

She takes her usual seat at a table and waits for Sairen to join her.

"Here." She passes him a lunchbox, "Your favorite." Yuki says.

"Thanks." Sairen accepts it gratefully.

He opens it and pulls out the sandwich and starts eating.

"How was your morning?" Yuki asks.

"Good, we made it through practice and managed to make it past most of the opening tests." Sairen replies with a chuckle.

"That's great." Yuki says.

"Thanks, we did our best and I think everyone learned a lot," Sairen states.

"Did anyone talk about...you yet?" Yuki asks nervously.

Sairen stops chewing and looks up at her with confused eyes.

"Talk about me?" He repeats.

"Yes..." Yuki mutters.

"What about me?" Sairen asks slowly.

"Um..well, they haven't said much about you, they haven't even said how you're strong and skilled." Yuki admits.

Sairen raises an eyebrow.

"Oh..okay..." He says awkwardly.

Yuki looks down at the ground and frowns.

"Why would she ask that?" Sairen thinks to himself.

Sairen is quiet for a moment. He decides to change the subject.

"Are you doing anything tonight?" Sairen says.

Yuki perks up slightly.

"Nope, just gonna do the usual maid work." She says.

Sairen nods and finishes his lunch.

"I should probably get going, I got to ask the family therapist something." Sairen announces.

"Really?" Yuki asks with an amused tone.

"Yeah, it's something I want to personally asks." Sairen huffs and crosses his arms.

Yuki chuckles lightly.

"I'll see you at the manor then." She says with a smile.

"Bye." Sairen replies.

He heads out the door to get home before Yuki does so it won't be awkward.
