Chapter 6 – My Lovely Maid
Cain appeared in front of the Guild Master’s office and knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Luther’s voice can be heard from the room.
Cain pushed open the door and stepped inside, finding Luther sitting behind his desk, poring over a stack of paperwork. The room was filled with various magical artifacts and trophies from past adventures, giving it an aura of both power and history.
Cain approached the desk, "How are you, old man?" he said with a playful grin, though his tone carried a hint of genuine concern.
The Guild Master’s aura of strictness was now replaced with a softer expression.
Luther chuckled, "Old as the mountains, but still kicking," he replied.
"And yourself? How's our newest recruit settling in?"
"Ally is full of energy. She's exploring the mansion as we speak," he said.
Luther's expression softened at the mention of Ally. "Good to hear. She's got potential, that one. With your guidance, I'm sure she'll become a valuable asset to our guild."
"I'll do my best to train her well," he promised earnestly.
"Excellent," Luther said, clasping his hands together.
"Now, onto more pressing matters. Have you heard about the recent disturbances in the neighbouring villages? There are reports of increased monster activity. I think you already know why."
Cain's expression turned serious as he listened to Luther's words. "I think this is caused by a demon. I have discovered hints of demonic activity with Ivory Guild. I also know here the home-base of the demons are.” he stated firmly.
Luther's eyebrows furrowed at the mention of demons, his expression now grave. "Demons... I feared as much," he muttered, his mind clearly racing through the implications of Cain's revelation.
"This home-base…" Luther pondered. “One of our scouts have seen movements near Penrith Village. Is this the home-base that you are talking about?”
“Yes, although small, this is probably where they originated.” Cain replied with a resolute tone.
“What type of demons are they?” Luther asked.
“Succubus.”
Turning his gaze back to Cain.
"Do you want to bring a squad with you? The Assassin Brigade, perhaps? Or do you intend to go alone?" he inquired with a subtle recommendation.
Cain considered Luther's suggestion carefully, weighing the advantages of both options.
The Assassin brigade are practitioners who has affinity with shadow or wind elements. Supported by their skills, they are deadly even against practitioners who are a rank above them. Their expertise in combat was unmatched, and their lethal skills rendered them a deadly force. Their mere presence in any battlefield is dangerous since everyone has to keep their mental guard up, since one misstep and they could be assassinated.
Although they boast immense speed, they lack in raw strength compared to a pure swordsman. Therefore, they are known to retreat after one or two failed attempts at assassination.
‘Bringing the Assassins could provide valuable support and backup,’ he admitted, acknowledging the expertise of the specialized unit.
‘But if I go alone, I might be able to move more discreetly and gather intelligence without drawing attention.’
Luther cut of Cain’s thoughts and said, "Ultimately, the decision is yours, Cain. Choose whichever option you believe will give us the best chance of success."
After a moment of contemplation, Cain responded, "I'll bring the Assassin Brigade with me." His decision was firm.
Luther nodded in approval.
"Very well, I will inform Able about it. He just came back from a mission as well. Visit him as soon as you can since he’ll be going away again."
With a final nod of agreement, Cain exited Luther's office, his mind buzzing with plans and preparations. Making his way through the bustling guild hall, he sought out Able, the leader of the Assassin Brigade. Able, a formidable rank-five Magus, had once been Cain's mentor during his younger days.
Cain appeared in an empty hallway, void of people. This is out of the ordinary since its still daytime.
He felt weird and his instincts told him to back off.
However, before Cain could even turn around, he found himself under sudden attack. Able flickered from the shadows, his movements swift and precise as he launched an assault on Cain. Surprised and caught off guard, Cain instinctively reacted, summoning his halberd, and defending himself.
The exchange was intense, each move was calculated and executed with precision. Cain fought with his skill, but Able proved to be a formidable opponent.
Cain struck in front of him, but only an afterimage was left. Able then appeared behind him to which Cain responded with a quick change in his stance, defending his neck.
In the blink of an eye, they have exchanged blows six times.
Cain increased his mana output inside his body, thus arousing his lightning affinity. Just when Cain was about to take this seriously, Able suddenly stopped his assault. Cain looked up to see Able standing before him with a knowing glint.
Able, his former teacher. An Assassin Magus, one of the Ascended of Chaosfall Guild. A middle-aged man with short hair and a scruffy beard. He is clad in an all-black assassin attire that matches the shadows of the night. Armed with a short katana, paired with shuriken and kunai strapped around his body, resembling the embodiment of death.
“Slow.”
Able said in a strict tone. “You still can’t transition from lightning to shadow element fast enough. What if I wanted to kill you?”
“I would have yelled that someone was sexually assaulting me,” Cain responded.
“What a fucking joke,” Able sighed.
“I’ve heard from Luther that you need some of my men for some succubus. I have already prepared them for you. Unfortunately, I can’t babysit you like the old days since I’ll be going on a mission right away.”
Able looked at Cain with care. “Are the dreams still there?” he asked.
“Yes,” Cain answered quickly.
“I see…”
After a short pause, Able then said, “When you reach Adept Major, there is something that you should know about your mother.”
Cain's heart skipped a beat at Able's mention of his mother. The memories of her mysterious disappearance flooded his mind, stirring up a mix of emotions he had long tried to suppress. Despite his curiosity, Cain remained composed, his eyes fixed on Able, silently urging him to continue.
Stolen novel; please report.
Able's gaze held a depth of understanding as he observed Cain's reaction. With a sigh, he continued, his voice tinged with solemnity.
“Your mother… is not a normal person. What you are looking for is deeper entangled in the matters far beyond our understanding”
Cain's brow furrowed, a myriad of questions bubbling to the surface.
"What do you mean?" his voice barely above a whisper.
“All that I can say is she told me to tell you when you have stepped into the realm of Adept Major.”
“Do people in the guild know it as well?” Cain asked.
“No, only Luther and I know this.”
"Adept Major..." Cain murmured the words as they hung in the air.
Able nodded. "When you have reached that level of mastery. Then—and only then—will the truth be revealed to you."
"I will reach Adept Major," Cain’s said with resolve.
Able offered a faint smile. "I do not doubt that you will, Cain. But remember, there are forces at play beyond our comprehension, and your mother's disappearance carries with it both great power and great peril."
Cain nodded. "I understand.”
"Other than that, once you've reached Adept Major, your control over your elements will vastly improve," Able advised.
"The brigade will be with you tomorrow," he added, turning to leave. Cain watched him go, his mind swirling with thoughts and questions.
As Able flickered into the shadows, Cain was left alone with his thoughts, pondering the journey that lay ahead and the secrets that awaited him.
‘This is deeper than I thought.’ He thought.
As the sun set, Cain made his way back to his mansion, the weight of Able's words hung heavy on his mind. Each step stirring up memories buried and emotions he had long fought to contain.
His mother's disappearance had always been a shadow lurking at the edge of his thoughts. And now, with Able's cryptic message, it seemed that the mystery reached deeper than he had ever imagined.
As he walked, Cain found himself retracing the fragments of his past, piecing together the moments that led to his mother's vanishing act. She has been with him till the age of fourteen, back when he was a pain to take care of. Whenever Cain asks anything about his father, his mom just says that he is an amazing man. He remembered his past memories vividly, but the mystery still remained.
At his father’s lack of presence in his life, the disappearance of his mother pushed him to mature sporadically. In this world where the strong kills the weak, he has to adapt. Although he matured prematurely, it is enough to survive in this world and gain respect.
He clenched his jaw, his fists tightening with resolve. He was determined to uncover the truth, to delve into the mysteries that shrouded his past like a cloak of shadows.
But as he approached the towering gates of his mansion, a wave of doubt washed over him. What if Able was right? What if his mother's disappearance was tied to forces beyond his understanding? The thought sent a shiver down his spine, a cold chill that cut through the warm air.
Entering his mansion, Cain found himself surrounded by mere power and luxury, yet it offered little solace of his inner turmoil. He is considered nothing to the people who has higher power. What he wants, is true freedom. Freedom to do anything what he wants, and to achieve that, he needs to gain more strength. Strength to uncover the mysteries of the world, and to protect what he considers dear.
Sinking into a plush armchair in his study, Cain gazed out the window, lost in thought.
A gentle knock echoed through the room.
“Come in,” he said softly.
The door creaked open, and in stepped Elena, the head maid. Her demeanour respectful, yet her green eyes failed to hide the concern within. She approached him with a small tray, with a steaming cup of tea and a plate of freshly baked pastries.
"Master Cain, I brought you some tea and pastries," Elena said with a gentle voice. "I thought you might appreciate a warm drink to soothe your thoughts. I believe you don’t intend to come for dinner."
Cain nodded gratefully, motioning for her to set the tray down on the nearby table. As Elena arranged the tea and pastries with practised hands, Cain couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for her presence.
As Elena arranged his tray, her mind drifted back to the days of her youth.
Elena was the dedicated Maid for Cain since when he was younger. She was sold by her own family to the Nocturne family back when Cain’s mom was handling the house affairs. She had been just a girl then, with dreams and aspirations like any other, but fate had dealt her a cruel hand, condemning her to a life of servitude and hardship.
Her family, blinded by their desperation, had seen her as nothing more than a burden—a girl with weak mana, deemed unworthy of their love and care. And so, they had sold her off to the highest bidder, a fate she had accepted with resignation but never truly come to terms with.
But fate had a way of surprising Elena, that surprise came in the form of Cain Nocturne. When she was introduced to him as his maid, she had braced herself for the worst, expecting to be treated like a disposable plaything by yet another powerful noble.
Yet, to her astonishment, Cain had treated her with kindness and respect from the very beginning. He had never once looked down on her for her lack of mana, nor had he treated her as anything less than an equal. Instead, he had welcomed her into his household with open arms, offering her a sense of belonging she had never known.
As the years passed, Elena watched with pride as Cain grew into a formidable young man, his determination and strength shining like a beacon in the darkness. He had become more to her. He became her hope, and she will do anything to make it stay that way.
Some people might look down on her for the act that she was about to do. A mere maid hoping more from her master. But she did not care. He was her everything and she will do anything to stay beside him.
One night she found herself standing outside Cain's study, her hands trembling as she raised them to knock.
When Cain bid her to enter, Elena stepped inside, her eyes pleading as they met his gaze. "Master Cain," she began, her voice trembling with emotion. "Please, I beg of you, do not leave me behind. You are my light in this dark world, my hope, my reason to keep going."
All the stress coming from the disappearance of Cain’s mother has affected the house of Nocturne and everyone related to it. Cain was the sole heir to the Nocturne assets and all the pressure was pushed towards him. This made Cain change dramatically as he needed to adapt to the unforeseen events, and this scared Elena.
Cain's eyes widened in surprise at her words. Slowly, he rose from his chair and crossed the room to stand before her, his expression softening with each step.
"Elena," he whispered, reaching out to gently cup her cheek. "You have been by my side for a long time. I could never leave you behind.”
“T-that’s not what I mean… It’s all because of you that I am here.”
Cain, although young as he is, has been desensitized to the world of the adults. Unfortunately for Elena, Cain does not reciprocate the feelings that Elena is feeling. But that does not mean he won’t take responsibility.
While Cain was staring at her normally, she kept going.
“I am who I am today because of you, master. When my own family threw me away, you were there to catch me. Although it was by accident, I still believe in fate that I was meant to be yours.” She said with a twinkle in her eyes.
“I am yours, my body, my soul, and my heart belong to you and only you.”
As she kept talking, Cain could notice her increased breathing and fastened heartbeat.
With a smile, Cain walked up to her as she moved backwards until her back hit the wall.
Cain could see many emotions running through her face. Her thoughts battling feelings of disgust and shame. She held her anticipation waiting for Cain’s answer.
‘This is surprising, I didn’t think she would be this obsessed with me. As long as she doesn’t get In my way, I have no problems.’ Cain thought. ‘This might be pretty good. Her whole world is me. My desires, approval, interest, my everything is all that matters to her.’
“Do you want to be my lover? My wife?” Cain asked.
Elena shook her head.
“I don’t care about any of that. All I wish is to be by your side, as long as I can be with you, I am satisfied.”
“Although… I w-would l-love to be your l-lover…” she stuttered.
Cain smiled.
“I know it's selfish as a maid, to ask you, my master, for love. This is why all I am asking is to serve you till I die, and if my unworthy body of mine is to your liking, please use it as much as you like.”
Cain lightly smiled as he placed his free hand on Elena’s face, trailing his fingers on her lips.
“What if I told you that I would be your downfall?” Cain asked as he paused playing with her lips. “That I am not the man you think I am? That I am the type of man who will do whatever he needs to get what he wants?
Cain said as he continued to look into Elena’s eyes. Each word shaking her core as her eyes trembled.
Elena then closed her eyes after her intense emotions shined within her. Her body stopped trembling and her breath became normal. She soon then opened her eyes with a smile.
“It doesn’t matter. As long as I get to stay with you, my one and only master, my answer remains the same.”
“I love you more since the current you feel more real and not one behind a mask.” Elena’s crazy affection was felt, and Cain can’t help but be surprised.
“What if I want to take over the world?”
“I will stand beside you and help you take over it.”
“What if I have to kill innocents to get to my goal?”
“I will help you achieve it.”
“What if I have to kill your family?”
“They weren’t one the day they threw me away.”
Cain couldn’t help but let out a low laugh.
Without delay, he pulled her into his lips for a kiss.
Elena’s hands found their way to Cain’s back as she wrapped her hands around his head, pushing him closer. Cain’s own hands weren’t idle as they travelled down her back to her ass, clutching both of them at once, fingers plunging into her flesh sinking in. With a swift motion, he then lifted her as she coiled her legs around him, all the while they continue to suck each other's lips.
Maids are usually trained for sexual pleasure curated by their masters, but this certain maid has received no training whatsoever, proving that Cain has no malicious intentions for Elena.
As Cain massaged Elena’s curves, feeling their softness, she couldn't suppress a moan, the sensation heightened by their continued kissing. As they kept fighting a battle of tongues, Cain broke the kiss. Separated by a thin line of saliva as she looked at him with passion.
