Chapter 12

Chapter 12: Meeting (2).

Pant*

Heavy pants filled the cave as the heat the room just felt was just superficial. Imaginary. Such so the show has come to a close. Curtains dropping so.

If not for the scene on display then people would really have to doubt themselves. The previously vigorous 'youths' was now wasted laying on the ground, limbs spread. Contrary, the women was curled, waist bent, similar to panggolins with traces of tears on each of the women's faces.

The sage goblin (from here on out, sage only) who was an overseer of such event nodded in satisfaction. As he swept his eyes upon the 'mess' its eyes glinted as a spark of interest flashed through them.

Stomp*

Stomping could be heard as the goblins who was hunting in the wilderness came back with each of their respective catches. Some caught a rabbit, some a wildcat and some a deer. The group entered the cave and the leader of such stepped forth to greet the sage.

"Good, store today's catch and ask our mothers to prepare us food for tonight."

The sage spoke in an indefferent tone imposing authority.

The leader backed out and lead the rest deeper into the cave.

Even though such scene was on display, the group seemed to be not at all concerned about such circumstances as if it was a common appearance.

When the footsteps got fainter, the sage who stood atop an altar suddenly raised his head. On the sage's face, a grin, could be make out.

Titus who was still immersed in his indulgence of what he had just witnessed suddenly felt weak. His limbs that was used to stick atop the ceiling became fluid like a liquid. His eyes gone dark. Not knowing what just happened he fell from the ceiling creating a dust cloud as he landed face first, not that he was sober anyway.

...

Laying waste on the floor Titus could be seen joined the rest after the dust cloud settled.

The sage on the other hand who was the reason as such, raised its staff. The staff started vibrating and started making noise. A second later the staff burst forth brilliant light that made the entire area which was dimly lit shine brightly.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

As the light settled the previous mess was no longer to be seen. The previous occupied ground was now barren void from the previous existences.

After performing such, the sage turned, 180° and walked inwards to the altar.

Leaving the place in silence.

Morning.

The sun rose just the same as any other day. A normal day. However for Titus who was laying in comfort in a pile of dried grass did not felt so.

He was startled when he woke up in such a place. 'How did I got here?' Titus inwardly asked as he felt helpless. He was quickly searching through his memories but was in vain.

Titus' memories was in shambles. He could not remember a thing after he hid to watch the intimate scene. After that contained none as his memory was muddy and blurry.

Prior to what Titus had expected to happen, the outcome was vastly contradictory. He tried to sit up and started struggling to support himself. Also, it was all in vain as he was feeling pain all over his body especially to his face which was burning.

Titus' ear twitched so suddenly not because of the pain but because he found that unknowingly the old goblin, sage, was already standing upront.

If not for his vigilance always up then he would have not notice its presence.

"Speak your thoughts child..."

The sage spoke as it saw the startled appearance of Titus. Clearly he had not still recovered from the shock as the events came one after another but that did not meant that he was not calm. However even with such facade was directly seen through by the sage as it spoke again.

"Just speak and let this elder have a talk with you..."

Fling hesitant, Titus replied nonetheless.

"Who are eyou?"

Hearing the words came out from his mouth, it furthered his shock and puzzlement. Even after he leveled up he was still not able to speak but miraculously he was able to just like the sage said so.

"As you can see, I am an elder of this goblin tribe. An overseer. A leader. An elder. I was the one who brought you here to answer your question prior to our meeting. Please do not hesitate to ask more."

Titus was now immune to the shock instead increased his vigilance towards the goblin. His eyes contained viciousness as he was staring to lose composure evident from the hostility in his eyes.

"Ahh... There you go again. Succumbing to the darkness of nature again."

Titus quickly snapped out of his state and became sober.

The situation just got more confusing. Thus, Titus decided to ask rather than figuring out himself as being ignorant will not work in this situation.

" Then tell me what was that. "

" Fret not child as it was only the darkness of your heart, your nature in fact. Although it was not an anomaly in the first place among your kind, you however struck out weird. From the moment you hid within the leaves I knew you were. Perhaps I neglected the fact before but once I felt you enter the cave through such 'daring' methods to avoid detection was simple cunning even for an imp.

"I truly wonder if you are an Imp in the first place."

The sage paused and peered through Titus eyes.

"I can feel that you are smarter. So smart that I believe that you are a creature with high intelligence and such I was not wrong.

I see deep within that pride and knowledge no less than mine. I dare not to imagine why you were acting panic-stricken after you woke up but reality hurts. You may not know but it was just a side effect.

Normally Imps do not posses such intelligence and was solely focused on following their instincts. The nature of an imp is as dangerous it can as imps are naturally born out pure yin energy of nature.

So having such black out during the intercourse of my children and the women was to be expected as you may not know but the first time you followed your curiosity right after it bloomed (the time he saw the smoke) it was bound to happen of such occurrence to escalate to what happened to you yesterday.

The massive leap of stimulation was the main reason as I know an imp as smart as you would have noticed it if the process was gradual.

It was also evident that that your birth was not that long before because no matter how high your intelligence and self control is you cannot control your nature as it will be rendered useless.

Titus suddenly interjected.

"But wouldn't that go against 'authority."

"Good question, but let me ask you one question my child-

What level are you?"

Titus was rendered speechless upon the question as the Greatest Scientist on earth was long gone and was not to be found the moment Titus decided to tail the group.

And behold, witness the downfall of a one in a millenia genius.

Authors note:

This chapter is quite long winded but it is necessary for Titus' future character development.
