The Encounter

The Encounter

John Wolf slowly walked through the most isolated part of the Northern Wolf Forest.

His sight was blocked by vines and dense standing trees which all seemed to stand in the perfect location to allow him to see only a few meters ahead. Despite the unusual creepy feeling and rise of tension in the air, he continued to go deeper and deeper into the ever-darkening forest. No sound could be heard not even the whistling of the wind which slowly makes his way through the forest. It was as if time was standing still and the only reason why he hadn´t made a ditch for his life yet was that somehow he got the weird feeling that it will be worth it. To be more precise it was like someone was whispering into his ears to keep going.

In a steady pace, he made his way forwards and every step he took the feeling of uneasiness and fear began to grow stronger and stronger. Now he already walked 3 miles since the feeling of unease started. This feeling was already so strong that it would have made even the bravest Hero turn around and flee. John would have wanted to do the same but his body wouldn´t listen to him anymore.

Another 3 miles later, the feeling of unease was completely replaced with the feeling of fear. No fear would be an understatement, it was complete terror. So much so that his body began subconsciously running but in the wrong direction and fog began to envelop his feet and after a short while, he couldn´t see them anymore.

Suddenly he arrived at a clearing with a big majestic looking statue of a Wolf in it. It seemed like it was made out of stone but when he looked closer John noticed that nobody would ever be able to carve out such an amazing piece of art. It was lifelike, beautiful, brutal, disturbing and, to the surprise of John, calming. With one look at the statue, his entire fear was gone. It was as if looking at the biggest predator of the night with no chance of escape or resistance. You had to accept your fate if you were to ever encounter a living beast as such.

He was standing there for several minutes already and carefully looking at the great statue when of all of a sudden the statue began to turn and move. It jumped off its foundation and tardily began to walk into the direction of John. The ground shook and with every step, it took you could see the ground caving in under the weight of the gigantic beast. It measured about 10 meters in height and 8 meters in width.

John was unable to run, not daring enough to flinch, even a single muscle in his body. The wolf now was about 10 meters in front and suddenly with a huge leap into the air, he came crashing down on John and devoured him with one massive bite.

After that, the only thing that John saw was pure darkness, for 3 days straight he lied on the same spot. Until one fateful day when he was woken up by his friends which searched for him the moment he left in the middle of the night.
