Synopsis
August Langley finds himself on the world of Aurora with the newfound ability to live his life like a game. August isn't the only stranger to Aurora, however, and he quickly notices something unsettling about the others; though they aren't game characters like him, every new arrival is a powerful Warrior in their own right, hailing from worlds where battles are fought by individuals closer to Gods than men. Each bears a divine mandate to vanquish the Spite wherever they appear--dark and mysterious creatures of unknown origin that've recently thrown Aurora into chaos. August receives a strong hint he's supposed to help with that whole thing, but as a level one character he's practically worthless in a fight--which probably wouldn't be a big deal... if he wasn't certain Aurora was doomed without him.
In a world of monsters masquerading as men, and also actual monsters, it's going to take a lot of effort on August's part to catch up to the pack and convince everyone he isn't as useless as he seems; a task made only more difficult by the fact that his growth is tied to the stats and abilities he can steal from monsters he personally defeats. To gain true strength, August will have to walk the razor's edge between progress and death, and learn tomorrow only comes for those willing to risk it all.
