After she said that the room faded out and I was floating above a battlefield filled with all the races. I suddenly felt the urge to fly into someone so I looked around for someone about to die so I would have less chance of ruining someone's life and spotted a scowling Illithid (squid humanoid) who was about to take a blaster shot to the mantle and took control of his body, causing me to scream..or rather gurgle.. in pain from his wounds as the shot fries my head and everything fades to black (yes it did feel like my brain was blown open).
“shreeee!” a bright flash suddenly engulfed me as I speak and then I noticed my 'voice' was little more than a shrill sound so I checked my status:

After looking at my status I noticed I was in the middle of a decaying forest whose trees looked like the hands of an old dying man and seemed to be reaching for any semblance of life they could grab and after a bit more looking I saw I was near a cave. I tried moving but it was weird. Imagine swimming without legs through a murky swamp and that's what it felt like.
Hearing a rustle in some bushes I turn and see a small rabb- actually it was a undead squirrel. The poor thing was missing an eye and had one dangling front paw showing its bone in the arm.
"Guess he is better than nothing for a starter fodder."
Trying to get the scan skill I stare intently at it and observe every aspect of it. After a 10 minute standoff(?) I finally get the skill and subsequently scan the squirrel.
Name: Zombie Squirrel
An undead squirrel. Died and infected by a low grade zombie. Now craves the souls of dryads and treants and contains the rage of a million berserkers…. yet since it is so weak it is not much more a snack for other undead. Honestly what did you want to know?
"That’s a…..colorful description...poor guy...well now you are a snack for me so may your rage become my sustenance."
I float over to it and activate corporeal form then grab it's little head and twist it off killing it instantly and use soul devourer to see if I can get anything.

I hunted for the next 3 hours with a result of me eating 13 souls. 10 were squirrels while the rest were rats. The only reason it took so long was because I had to wait for my MP to refill to use soul devourer. Thankfully from all that I gained 3 levels, some Stat bonuses, and my soul devourer, assassinate, and stealth skills went up to level 2 as well as gained the unarmed combat skill.

A.N. I plan to describe how non undead races start out in a later chapter as it differs an interesting amount and results in the MC getting some extra time to get accustomed to himself compared to his teammates as well as showing why some races get a better setup than others.
