It was a murky night like no other.
The usual sound of explosion and destruction are ringing throughout the city.
As they settle me down, I slowly saw their faces get smaller and smaller as we got further. The sounds of chaos slowly grew quieter, eventually stopping.
All I heard afterwards was the sound of the engine and muffled hic and cries. That was 17 years ago.
The last time I saw my parents.
I woke up as usual, I ate a banana for breakfast. I brushed my teeth with a brush made from plant fibers and wood. I had a bath and combed my hair. All items handmade by me, I owe it to them for teaching me everything I know. I went down to a severely forested area that I'd like to call "The Table" sounds stupid I know but, this is where they're buried, when I'm here, I feel as if my grandparents are with me, where I can talk to them, have a nice chat, as if we're on a table. I settled a few tangerines on their gravestone, they love these. I went on with the rest of my day.
I headed back up, going through an area overgrown by bushes, vines and trees.
As I got out, the usual view greeted me. The cool wind, the warm sun, the salty taste of the air, the sound of the waves, and the vast blue ocean. It's not something that you'd expect from a post apocalyptic world. Destruction, debris and a vast gray monotone sky is what you'd probably expect, you'd see that around the cities years ago but right now, it's already overgrown with vegetations and greenery. I wouldn't dare touch anything that grew around that area though, radiation might still be lingering around. They dropped 3 nukes in that area after all.
It's been years since I've last heard any signs of military equipment, I like the thought that I'm most likely the last person alive and the rest of the world have destroyed each other by now. An entire planet all to myself doesn't sound so bad after all.
I walked alongside the shore to check on my nets if I've gotten any catch, I've been having problems lately since something's been taking my catch. The nets are somehow intact so whatever it is, it's quite smart. I know that I've gotten a catch since the nets are sitting on the shore instead of near the water.
I've got no idea on what to do, I tried setting traps but, to no avail, none of them were triggered but my catch is still gone. I thought that I'd get a huge catch these following days since it rained heavily 3 days ago, seems like luck is not on my side this time around since something just coincidentally started to take my catch.

As I stared on the empty nets.
An idea flashed in my mind,
> "Perhaps it's not something... but someone?"
I thought to myself albeit, immediately dismissing it. I've been here for a long time now. My grandparents only died a few years back, surely one of us would've noticed of there were another person in this place with us.
As I looked around, my entire body froze.
> "Is that... a burning log?"
I slowly walked towards it, and what I saw added to my shock. Fishbones impaled with a stick, all scattered around the fire. I saw 6 in total.
I sat down to calm myself, countless thoughts running through my mind. After regaining my composure, I frantically looked around.
> "The fire feels fresh. They must be close"
I looked and looked and looked. I didn't see anyone. I shouted, no one answered.
I started to once again, dismiss the thought of another person existing with me, and brushed it off as simply just a set of very specific set of coincidences.
The animals that ate the fish must've left the bones near the fire, the log must've been struck by lightning, but the impaled fishes. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE. I can't rationalize it, but since I didn't see anyone at all, I was ready to brush it off completely. I started walking back to my home when suddenly...
> "Sosh...... hai na....... datte......"
I stopped.
> "A song?"
I kept listening, finding the source of it.
"Kamisa....... tout...... shita"
> "This sounds... familiar, and the language, I don't understand it, but it feels as if... I've heard of this song before."
I closed my eyes, listening intently...
"Up there... certainly"
I looked at the cliffside of the mountain. I'm certain that it's coming from up there.
I ran immediately, going through a part of the forest that I've only entered once. I haven't been here for a long time, yet my memory of it surfaced immediately. I knew on where to go to get up the mountain.
My ears rang, I can feel my heart pounding. I'm gasping for air, yet my body kept moving. My head starting spinning, my eyes started blurring. I can feel the vines and weeds hitting my face and legs. My body kept moving. The recent rain made the steep slippery. I slipped, over and over. I can feel my bruises, my elbow's bleeding. My body kept moving.
I know I'm near the top, my senses started focusing again, the song is getting louder. My body kept moving.
I reached the top, I'm standing at the edge of the tree lines. I stared at the figure. My eyes gradually adjusting to the light. They're still singing. I called to them. Despite my breathlessness. I managed to utter a greeting.
> "H-Hello?"
My eyes started to properly adjust to the light, I saw them turning their head to me, and what I saw, would forever be etched to my mind.
The vast sky and ocean behind. Her long black hair fluttering through the wind. Her white sundress with traces of dirt. And her face painted with a smile directed right at me. That's how I met her. In this place, at the final moments of humanity. A tale, beginning At The End.
