Isabella was chatting with the maidservant while watching Fred, wailing his limbs about on the bed,
“he’s been doing that a lot for the past 6 days until he gets tired and passes out”
“The doctor has checked on him several times me Lady, he said there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong,” the maid tried to reassure her mistress, although, failing to sound convincing as she watched Fred, he would have a fit of shakes once a day until he tired himself out and fall back to sleep.
This had caused the lady a lot of stress over the past few days, what was worse was that they had only just moved to the castle 2-3 months ago from the mainland, thank God she had Sir George, he was able to manage most of the castles administrative functions allowing Lady Isabella to have time to focus on her new-born.
“Look miss, young master Fred has seemed to grow tired and will probably fall asleep now.”
Isabella sighed in relief, “I wish he wouldn’t cause me to worry so much,”
~sparkle~*crack* Isabella and the maidservant both stood up and rushed over to Fred as he lay there asleep.
“What was that… Where have I heard that before,”
“Miss wasn’t that a level up,”
“How, he’s barely 11 days old…
quick call the doctor.”
---
The doctor had been called over many times due to Fred’s antics, well he couldn’t complain. First of Fred would become his lord one day, but aside from that, he knew how worried mothers can be, especially first-time mothers, and the child mortality rate left something to be desired.
He was just finishing up his notes for the day when he suddenly heard frantic footsteps and knocking on his door a few seconds later.
“Doctor Jehan, the mistress seeks your presence something happened to young master Fred.”
“Ah shit, here we go again,” Johan muttered under his breath, “I'm coming Kelly, hold on a minute.”
He got up and packed his instruments into his bag and took it with him as he opened the door and walked out. “let’s go”
---
“Thank god you’re here doctor; I think something big has happened to Fred.”
“Calm down Lady Isabella, let me have a look at Fred before we suffer some unnecessary anxiety,” Doctor Jehan walked over to the sleeping Fred, oblivious to the trouble he’s caused. “Hmm, what did you see this time, was it the same flailing about as before.”
“No, doctor; well, he did that as usual and then fell asleep from tiredness, only this time as soon as he fell asleep, we seen a spark and heard a crack, similar to the phenomena observed via a level up.”
Doctor Johan listened as he checked over Fred with his instruments, “yes, that does seem to be the case, I’m detecting level 2, and there doesn’t seem to be damaged, yeah, he’s just levelled up, congratulations, Lady Isabella.”
“But he’s only 11 days old, normally it takes babies a few months to level up.”
“O, yeah” Doctor Johan had to agree it was strange for babies to level up so soon “ah, but it's not impossible.”
“What do you mean doctor?”
“Well, the reason babies take a few months to level up is that they hinder themselves, theoretically it should only take ten days to level up, it to do with the daily quest,”
“Daily quests?”
“Yes, daily quests, at his level he can gain 1 exp for exhausting his stamina once a day, and you only need 10 exp for a level up,”
“Then why don’t other babies level up within the first ten days?”
“Well, it's two reasons actually, the first one is punctual.”
“Punctual?”
“Yes, to achieve a level up so fast, he has to complete this task every day, a lack of punctuality results in a slowdown of exp gain.”
“I see, yes that does make sense, but, weirdly, he is so punctual for a baby.”
“Yes indeed, my Lady, but not impossible”
“Hmm… you said there were two reasons, what was the other reason, Doctor?”
“Ah, the second reason is to do with the quest.”
“The quest?”
“Yes, but more specifically the second line warns that repeated stamina exhaustion over the body limit can cause undue stress and cause exp loss, at his level exhausting his stamina for a second time per day should negate the gain from the first time,”
“I see”
“You sound like you think something is off”
“Yes, but I can’t put my finger on it”
“I believe that would be the baby’s understanding,”
“Fred’s understanding”
“Yes, you see this reason is the biggest cause of ‘late bloomers’, while the quest will inform him of this warning, he as a baby and therefore, should not be able to understand it. At this age he shouldn’t be aware of the significance of exp gain or level up, usually, it takes a few months for babies to spot a difference in his exp bar each day, and then he will be able to start associating actions to changes, and finally experimentation, or to see what happens as he keeps changing the exp value.” The doctor stroked his chin, they mumbled to no one in particular “But that should take months”
“So, what does this mean.”
“Honestly ma’am, I’ve never come across it before, but that does not mean it doesn’t happen, this could be seen as a head start, especially amongst the aristocrats, and it would probably be in their interest to hide such facts.”
“So, you’re saying we should keep quiet about this, and what, just see what happens.”
“Unfortunately, my Lady, that’s all I can suggest, this may and well truly be a blessing for you m’Lady, but remember Jealousy is a deadly sin for a reason.”
“Ok, thank you, doctor.”
“I shall turn in for the night, do call me if anything happens again.”
“Yes, I will”

Late into the night, Fred had woken up, he could feel all his bones and tendons feeling sore, ‘What happened’

‘Man, my stats have quadrupled in 10 days, this is ridiculous, although, I haven’t yet managed to figure out what those stats represent in the real world.’
Fred had continued to cry to exhaustion for 3 more days since he found out about the daily quest, however, He noticed that he would only be given 1 point in endurance every three days. Fred then wanted to experiment with exercise, but the only thing he could do at the moment was to flail about like a crazy person, causing endless worry for the maid and his mom. However, he was pleasantly surprised by the result. Compared to crying, not only did he gain an endurance point he also received a point in power and dexterity. Unfortunately, he didn’t receive any points for power and dexterity until the 4th day after.
As Fred focused on the level up, log, a new thread opened.
Level up
Stage 1, Level 2 requirement: Chance of gaining stat points in conjunction with daily quests changes to 99%
Stage 1, level 2 requirement: +10% stamina recovery for 6 hours on completion of a daily quest completion
‘Ooo, nice’ Fred thought, ‘I’m moving up in the world’
It took Fred 15 days to level up again, he wanted to experiment with the ‘over stressed’ effect to see if he kept the skill point, unfortunately, he lost the points, and a day’s experience, meaning he couldn’t try to game the system, by this way at least.
With this level up, his chance of receiving stat points was reduced by 1 percentage point, while his stamina recovery percentage doubled, although the time frame for stamina recovery remains 6 hours. Unknowingly, this caused his mother to worry, first time levelling up so early may have been a fluke, but a second time. Unfortunately for Fred he kept passing out due to exhaustion and didn’t know about the visible effects of a level up, nor did he know they could check his level, heck, as far as he was aware he might have been the only person in this world with a level system.
Fred had been trying to learn the language, and, while he was starting to understand, albeit, due to similarities to the English and French language, unfortunately, he couldn’t form coherent sounds yet as his mouth was still developing.
---
It had been a year and one month since Fred had come to this world. After 6 months his mother started including other foods into his diet, this, in turn, started giving him random vitality points now and then, noticing that the chance to gain from new foods was higher than repeated foods, and as he continued to eat the same food, his chances continued to diminish. The ratio for proper food to breast milk kept increasing until his first birthday, where he had completely moved over to food and was no longer breastfed. This had caused 2 changes. First was his body had changed to baby, this caused his daily exercise rewards to change, he was now receiving 1 point in endurance every 6 days and 1 point in power and dexterity every 8 days. He was then able to start crawling at 7 months, and using this method for his daily quests allowed him to gain 1 point in density every 8th day along with power and dexterity
On his 1st birthday was the second change, his body: ‘baby’ changed to ‘infant’ this further reduced the points gain for endurance back three more days, and points gained for Pow/Den/Dex back by another four days.
He had said his first word today, ‘mama’ which gave his mother a beautiful smile, she instantly picked up Fred and ran around the castle bragging about Fred’s first word and that his first word was to call her, by the afternoon, even the cows across the meadow had gotten the news, regardless of whether they understood or not.
But what shocked Fred was his very first skill,

Isabella was having fun trying to teach Fred, how to walk and talk every day, she never knew how rewarding it would be, trying to achieve even the smallest of milestones, Fred learned to walk and talk quite early for his age, however, while that was a lot better than the norm, it wasn’t a unique situation. And was barely in the top 10%, what Isabella didn’t know was that Fred was struggling to get used to slower cognitive speed, and lower computation capacity, not only was this because he was getting used to a baby’s underdeveloped brain, but Fred had spent a good 2-300 years with a chemically and biologically engineered overclocked brain, thus causing him to have quite a bit of neurological issues to get used to. If this wasn’t the case Fred might have been able to start communicating within the first few months, giving his mother even more stress.
But Fred noticed that his baby’s brain was having another effect, the infants desire for unrestrained exploration, discovery, experimentation, and amusement was heavily suppressing the more mature and cautious traits he had gained over the years, the other day he spent a good hour pulling funny faces in the mirror, after a while, even his mom joined him, which made it even more entertaining. even with Sir George trying to ruin the fun, talking about it not being befitting of a noble lady. Luckily the head maidservant was on our side and shoed Sir George out of the room.
---
On his second birthday, Fred got a notification changing his body type again, this time from infant to toddler, further increasing how many days it will take him to gain stat points. Fred had not only been training his body, but he was also practising his skills. He managed to get Common words – spoken, up to level 6 and common words – written up to level 8. Due to the combination of skills, he picked up in his past life as well as the fact he could study on his own sometimes, he was able to advance writing further than spoken, as with that he would need to speak to someone constantly for that skill.
This accumulated in a rise of 3 levels in the main skill giving him 15 skill points in int and wis.
