The magical academy in A city was quite large, resembling a palace. In reality, it was nothing more than a show of extravagance. Why did they make it so grand?
In my opinion, such a massive palace was utterly unnecessary. The academy was divided into three classes: first-year students, second-year students, and third-year students, each housed in different buildings.
I walked quickly toward the building where the second-year students were located. The blue-and-white walls of the magical academy seemed to shimmer as they extended deeper.
"They must already be in class. Today's lesson is combat training," I muttered and headed toward the training field.
The training field was the size of a football field, surrounded by spectator seats. Although I referred to it as a training field, it doubled as a combat arena.
Trying not to attract too much attention, I approached my classroom in the middle of the training field.
There were forty students in my class, most of whom were children trained by powerful guilds.
"Look who's here. The classless Dante has finally decided to join us," James said, shouting loud enough for everyone to hear.
James was the young talent from the dormant tiger guild. We were the same age, but his willpower stat was at level [A].
When I turned my head to face James, I noticed the information window hovering above his head.
{[Level:D-][Name:James Vulcan]}
Seeing that window, my eyes widened. James had reached [D-] level. The gap between our abilities was immense. I had never stood a chance against him before, and now, I had even less.
The tension between us didn't go unnoticed. The teacher turned to address us.
"Hey, if you have an issue, settle it with a combat duel," the teacher said.
I shifted my gaze to the teacher. He had brown eyes, blonde hair, and a youthful appearance. Arthur Vulcan... James's older brother.
Anyone seeing them side by side would recognize their sibling relationship. The real issue was that Arthur intentionally made them look like copies of each other. They definitely enjoyed messing with me.
Before approving the training match, the other students formed a circle, leaving an open space for James and me. "Damn it..." I whispered, raising my arms into a fighting stance.
I hated this situation. People made decisions without listening to me. They didn't care about me! It felt like I was their plaything.
I had made a mistake; I shouldn't have come to this school. There was nothing left for me to learn here. This school was more dangerous for me than any dungeon.

"I'm coming!" James shouted.
As soon as I heard his voice, James's fist was already in front of my eyes. I leaned my head to the side, narrowly avoiding the punch. Gasps echoed from the crowd.
But their reactions didn't matter to me. I felt liquid running down my right cheek. I touched my cheek, realizing it was blood.
"Why so surprised, classless?" James taunted.
"Coming again!" he added, throwing another punch.
This time, the punch was faster. Although I could track it with my eyes, my body couldn't react in time. The punch hit my jaw, sending me crashing to the ground. My jaw throbbed, and I couldn't open or close my mouth properly.
He had shattered my jaw with a single punch. The power gap between us was immense.
I lifted my head, looking at the teacher. He smiled just like the others. Despair washed over me. I shouldn't have come here. I had made a mistake.
James didn't wait for me to get up; he grabbed my clothes and pulled me to my feet. Then he delivered a punch to my ribs. I felt my rib crack, making it even harder to breathe.
I was angry. So angry that if I had the strength, I would kill everyone here. But I couldn't. I couldn't kill anyone.
But I could do something.
I clenched my left fist and struck James directly in the jaw. I put all my strength into that punch. It hit James, who was looking around with a big smile on his face, and shook his head slightly.
The surroundings fell silent...
Then James hit me with all his might, pinning me to the ground.
As my vision blurred, I could still see the teacher pulling James off me.
...
I woke up in the academy's infirmary. Everything was white, and there was no one else in the room. I touched my jaw, opening and closing it to check if it had healed.
My body felt better than before. The reason was undoubtedly the healer in the infirmary. They were from the healer class and had a high level. They could easily heal even severe injuries.
Next to me, I picked up my phone and checked the time.
It was already 7 PM. I had been unconscious for a full seven hours.
They really had no mercy. I had never been unconscious for such a long time before.
No matter. Right now, I don't have the power to stand against them. In fact, I'll probably never have that power...
I got out of bed and started walking. It was late, and by now, I should have already been home.
Most likely, my family doesn't care what time I come home.
...
After walking for twenty minutes, I arrived in front of my house. It was white and single-storied. The small garden outside made the house look quite nice.
As new as the house looked, I hated it. Every time I entered, I received disgusted looks.
I slowly approached the door and was about to insert the key to open it when I heard voices from inside.
"How can I not be happy, my daughter's talent is [S] level!"
That voice belonged to my mother. From her tone, I could tell she was quite happy.
What surprised me wasn't her tone, but what she said.
Is it possible? Had Alessandra awakened an [S] level willpower?
As this thought crossed my mind, I furrowed my brows. Normally, one would be happy to learn that their sister was so talented. But for me, it was unbearable...
"I'm glad she's not a talentless trash like Dante."
That voice was my father's. Although not as cheerful as my mother's, I could tell he was quite happy too.
"Let's stop thinking about Dante, let's celebrate this together!"
My sister shouted with joy. I could understand the excitement and happiness in her voice.
Let's stop thinking about Dante...
As these words echoed in my mind, I looked at the key in my hand.
Why am I still coming to this house?
I don't see them as my family. They don't see me as theirs either. I need to stand on my own feet now.
Screw my family! Screw the magic academy! I can take care of myself!!
After thinking this, I put the key in my pocket and quickly walked away. Then I opened my phone and entered the dungeon app.
I had been postponing some missions for a long time. Missions I wouldn't join unless it was a last resort.
Now it was time for me to join these missions.
The text on my phone's screen read exactly as follows:
--You have agreed to enter the dungeon once as a carrier and collector. Be in the 3rd district of A city within two hours. Someone will call you on the phone as you approach the location.
Dungeon level: [E-]
Reward: $10,000 per person. $2,000 for carriers.
