"When Mallow was younger, her mother got really sick and passed away," Lana informed the group. "I'm going to go talk to her."

"I'll come too," Ashley said as she handed Pikachu to Lillie.

"I've got this," Lana said kindly.

"I know you do," Ashley smiled back. "But I know what it's like to have a parent die when you're young. So, I'll come too."

"Okay," Lana said before she and Ashley left. Everyone looked at each other in confusion.

"Did you all know that about Ashley?" Hapu asked the group.

"No," Kiawe answered. "We've met her mum but she's never mentioned her father before."

"Maybe Ashley would like to see her father as well," Lillie suggested.

"Hey Mallow," Ashley said as she and Lana approached the bench Mallow was sitting on. "May we sit down?" 

Mallow nodded before moving over a little so Ashley could sit on her right while Lana sit on her left. They sat quietly, just staring at the ocean, until Lana asked if Mallow wanted to see her mother.

"I don't," she admitted. "When I was little, she was in the hospital a lot. But when she got better we went for a walk through the forest together. She caught Bounsweet for me. My cute little sister I called her."

Ashley smiled softly

"But then she got sick again and had to go back," Mallow said as she started to cry. "When I visited she kept apologizing for being sick. I hated it when she apologized. One day I had enough and I screamed at her I hated her and ran away. She died that night and the last words I said to her was 'I hate you!' If Tapu Fini can let people meet those who've passed, how can I face her after what I said."

As Lana moved closer and pulled Mallow into a hug, Ashley took her hand and squeezed it.

"I understand Mallow," Ashley said. "The last words I said to my dad that he was selfish and if he loved me, he wouldn't leave.

"Really?" Mallow asked as she looked at her, tears falling.

"Dad was a Pokemon Champion," Ashley said. "He was always traveling and battling trainers from different regions. I was very proud of him and he would let me play with his pokemon or watch his battles. It was my fifth birthday and mum and dad had planned this amazing scavenger hunt to find as many Pokemon as we could. Dad organized it and promised he would be there but the night before, he got a call and said he had to leave. He broke his promise to me and I was so angry at him. A few days later Officer Jenny came to our house. Dad had been found dead and his Pokemon gone. Mum was devastated and started to abuse me telling me if it wasn't for me none of this would happen."

Ashley sighed as she remembered how devasted her mother was and the guilt she felt when Officer Jenny told her dad wasn't coming home. She showed Mallow and Lana the scar on her neck.

They both gasped at how bad the scar was.

"I understand the guilt Mallow," Ashley sighed as she hugged her tight. "Nobody wants the last words they say to their loved ones to be 'I hate you."

As Mallow wept, Ashley closed her eyes tight in an attempt to prevent the tears from falling while Lana stoop up and stood in front of them, hugging them tightly. Unknown to them, above the Pokemon Center Tapu Fini was watching them and had heard every word Ashley and Mallow had said. 

After Lana, Mallow and Ashley went back inside the Pokemon Center the group followed Hapu to her farm. But everyone was concerned about Ashley and Mallow.

"I'm sorry I worry everyone," Mallow said as they walked. "Especially you Tsareena. I'm okay."

"Tsareena," Tsareena smiled, relieved that her trainer was feeling better.

"It's alright Mallow," Kiawe said.

"Kiawe's right Mallow," Lillie added before she looked at Ashley. "But we're worried about you too Ashley."

"What do you mean Lillie?" Ashley asked as Pikachu played with her hat.

"We know about you mum Ashley," Sophocles said. "But we've never heard you mention your father before."

Ashley sighed softly and told them the same thing she told Mallow and Lana,,, leaving out her abuse and scar.

Everyone started to feel bad for Ashley especially Pikachu. Mallow and Lana noticed she left her abuse and scar.

"Anyway Hapu what are we going to do when we get to your place?" Ashley asked.

"I need some help planting seeds and watering before we have tea," Hapu admitted. "I'm so happy to have friends over. It's been a long time since I had visitors come for tea." 

"We're happy to help," Mallow beamed just as they reached Hapu's house.

After showing them how to carefully plant the seeds and fetch water from the well, everyone started to water the newly planted seeds, although Lillie, Mallow and Sophocles struggled a little with the heavy buckets.

"How do you do this every day Hapu?" Mallow huffed.

"Working with Grandpa, I gained a lot of upper body strength," Hapu said proudly.

"That's amazing!" Ashley praised causing Hapu to blush.

"Thank you Ashley," Hapu said. "Would you draw some more water from the well so I can make us some tea please?" 

"Of Couse," Ashley beamed. "Torracat, Pikachu, help me out?"

Pikachu and Torracat made noises of agreement before heading over to the well with Ashley. As they started to draw water, a mist began to roll in a cover the area. Ashley looked around and frowned.

"Pikachu, Torracat, Rotom, stay close," she said. "And let's try find the others."

After getting noises of agreement, Ashley started to walk with Pikachu, Torracat and Rotom following behind.

"Mallow?" Ashley called as they carefully moved through the mist. "Lana, Sophocles? Kiawe, Lillie, Hapu? Where are you guys?"

Suddenly Torracat looked up and startled before running off as fast as he could.

"Torracat wait!" Ashley yelled as she, Rotom and Pikachu followed Torracat as fast as they could. "Don't run off! We have to stay together!"

Suddenly Torracat stopped running and started to yowl.

"Torracat!" Ashley cried as she stop running and kneeled beside Torracat in an attempt to comfort him."What's the matter?"

Torracat gestured to the mist in front of them. As they looked, they saw a shadow approaching them. As it got closer they saw it was Stoutland, Torracat's guardian.

"Stoutland?" Ashley breathed as Torracat happily ran forward and started to nuzzle Stoutland with joyful purrs.

"Wow Stoutland," Ashley said as she stepped forward to pet Stoutland while Pikachu chirruped happily.

"This is amazing!" Rotom cried.

"But if Stoutland's here," Ashley said thoughtfully before shaking her head with a smile. "It doesn't matter. You get to see Stoutland again, Torracat, and that's all that matters."

"He isn't the one who's here," a voice behind her said.

Ashley looked over her shoulder to see a man approaching wearing jeans, a black shirt with a red jacket, and a red hat.

"Daddy?" Ashley asked as she stood up, believing her mind was playing tricks on her.

"Hello princess," the man smiled as he opened his arms.

Slowly, Ashley moved forward until she was leaning against the man's chest, convinced it was real. As the man's arms wrapped tightly around her, Ashley started to cry and hold him tightly.

"Daddy!" she sobbed as she pressed her face into the man's chest. "Daddy I've missed you so much!" 

"I've missed you too princess," the man smiled as he stokes Ashley's hair. "You've gotten so beautiful." 

"So you're Ashley's father?" Rotom asked as it took as many pictures as it could.

"That's right," he smiled. "My name is Red. It's nice to meet you Rotom and you too Pikachu. Hey Ashley look."

Ashley moved her face away from her father's chest, just in time to see Torracat using the moves Fire Fang, Flame Charge, Revenge and Ember. Asley smiled.

"What's Torracat doing?" Rotom asked.

"He's showing all the moves he's learned," Ashley said as Red smiled.

"You've raised Torracat well," he said. "You've raised all of your Pokemon well. I'm very proud of the trainer you've become."

"Thank you day," Ashley said quietly as Stoutland approached Torracat before talking to it quietly. As Torracat activated Ember again, Stountland punched it, turning it into a Fire Blast. Ash, Pikachu, Rotom and Torracat gasped while Red beamed.

"Looks like Stoutland still has some lessons to teach," he said as Stoutland gestured to Torracat.

"Stoutland's training Torracat!" Ashley cried joyfully as Torracat started to train.

"Let's sit and watch," Red suggested as he sat down. Ashley copied while Pikachu climbed into Red's lap for cuddles.

"You're very adorable Pikachu," Red smiled as he inspected Pikachu. "I used to have a Pikachu too."

"Seriously?" Ashley asked.

"That's right," Red smiled as he tickled Pikachu's ears, much to his delight. "You two get along with well just like my Pikachu and me."

"My best friend," Ashley smiled before her face turned serious. "Hey dad?"

"Yes love."

"I'm sorry."

Red looked at her in surprise. 

"What are you sorry about?"

"For saying you were selfish and for saying I hate you," Ashley said as she started to cry. "I was angry and being a child. I was being the selfish one and I'm so sorry."

Red smiled before pulling Ashley so she was lying on Red's lap, gently stroking her hair.

"It's okay you were a child," he said. "And I promised you that I would be there for your birthday. I'm sorry I broke my promise to you."

"Why did you have to go?" Ashley asked.

"I got a call from one of my friends," Red said. "Team Rocket was stealing and hurting Pokemon. So I quickly grabbed my Pokemon and took off. I managed to free all the injured Pokemon before coming face to face with Giovanni. I beat him in a Pokemon battle but that didn't stop him. He knocked me out unconscious and took away all my Pokemon. I woke up in a strange room and I couldn't move Giovanni kept asking me questions but I refuse to answer any of them. The last thing I remember was Giovanni saying 'Kill him."

Ash, Pikachu and Rotom gasped.

"Does he still have your pokemon?" Rotom asked.

"I doubt it," Red said. "Knowing Giovanni I bet he killed to have no proof. Anyway, how did you get that scar on your neck princess?"

Ashley sighed and told Red, Pikachu and Rotom the truth.

"That's so cruel!" Rotom exclaimed.

Pikachu nuzzles her cheek. 

"So Delia blamed you for my death?" Red asked.

Ashley nodded.

"Ashley!" Rotom cried. Ashley and Red looked up just in time to see Torracat's Ember split a little.

"Wow!" Ashley cried as she leaped to her feet. "You can do it Torracat!"

"Pika!" Pikachu cheered.

"Stout," Stoutland said encouragingly.

Red smiled as she watched Ashley keep encouraging Torracat.

"You remind me of myself," he said softly.

Torracat grits his teeth before creating Ember and hitting it as hard as he could, perfecting the move Fire Blast.

"You did it Torracat!" Ashley cheered jumping up and down in excitement as Torracat ran to Stoutland and nuzzled him while Stoutland grunted proudly.

"Stoutland is very proud on how strong Torrcat has become," Red smiled as he stood up before placing a hand on Ash's shoulder. "Just like me."

All of a sudden the mist started to clear showing the sunlight. Rotom quickly turns around and records. Red looked around briefly before he smiled.

"Ashley?"

"Yes dad?"

"Stoutland and I have to go now," he said softly,

"What?" Ashley cried as tears started to form. "But you can't. I just got you back and I still have so many questions.

Red smiled as he pulled Ashley in for a hug. 

"I'll always be with you princess," he said. "I'll always be in your heart. Just promise me you'll keep being your kind and amazing self." 

"I promise," Ashley wept as Stoutland gave Torracat a lick as a way of saying goodbye.

"I love you Daddy," Ashley said as Red placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I love you more," Red smiled before releasing Ashley. As Red and Stoutland started to disappear, Red gave Ashley a wink.

Red smiled one more time before he and Stoutland disappeared.

"Goodbye Daddy," Ashley said softly.

Ash pets Torracat which he purrs in delight.

"Come on you guys," Ashley said. "Let's go find the others." 

Meanwhile, Mallow started to walk back to Hapu's house where Lana, Sophocles, Kiawe, Lille and Gladion were standing.

"Lana!" Mallow called as she approached the group. "I saw my mum! And I found this Pokemon!"

"That's wonderful Mallow!" Lana cried as she patted the new Pokemon before turning to Lillie.

"Lillie did you get to see your father?" Mallow asked, hopeful that her friend got her wish as she did hers. 

"No," Lillie said sadly. "Gladion and I couldn't find him."

"Why wouldn't he show himself to us?" Gladion said, his face full of hurt.

"Because he's alive!" a voice behind them said. Everyone turned to see Hapu approaching them on Mudsdale. "If you two had a strong desire to see your father and wasn't in the mist, then he must be alive!"

Lillie and Gladion gasped before looking at each other.

"We have to tell Mother!" Lillie cried as Gladion nodded before pulling out Silvally's Pokeball. Just as Gladion was about to release Silvally Lillie looked around.

"Wait where's Ashley?"

"Do you think she got trapped in the mist?" Kiawe asked.

"Impossible!" Hapu cried. "I asked Tapu Fini to return everyone!"

"Guys!"

"Ashley!" Everyone shouted.

She explained she saw her father, Torracat saw Stoutland and learn Fire Blast.

"That's amazing," Lana said.

Before everyone went back inside they saw Tapu Fini.

"Tapu Fini," Lillie gasped.

Ashley walks up to Tapu Fini and hugs her surprising everyone including Tapu Fini.

"Thank you Tapu Fini," Ashley said gratefully. "If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be able to see my father."

Tapu Fini is confused not knowing what to do, but eventually returns the embrace before leaving.

This is from the episode Memories in the mist Ashley meets her father. So it's mainly focused on Ashley but imagine the episode playing like normal with Mallow, Lillie and Gladion and Hapu. I hope you like it.
