Prologue - The Transfer Student

“Hiiya, everybody, welcome back to Asashin Academy! I hope you’ve all had a great summer break at the military! Now, let’s all get back to business…”

How boring. She’s droning on and on and on…

“Okay, everybody, before we leave to the first day of class, I would like to introduce a new transfer student! Let’s all welcome him as he gives his speech!” This feigned cheerfulness obviously did not spread to the students sitting around on the battle stadium. All of them kept silent and held stern faces.

Of course, this did not mean the academy was so serious that nobody ever smiled. It was just that the welcoming ceremony truly had no meaning. It was mocked at. No one laughed or smile without an incredibly convincing reason to do so. Plus, every year, a fight would break out during the welcoming ceremony. Today was not an exception.

This was his cue to enter the battleground, or in this case, the stage. He entered. The speech-girl gave him the microphone.

He paused and thought what he was going to say. He truly didn’t care enough to even prepare a speech while in the center of attention. 5 minutes later had gone by.

What the hell is wrong with the transfer student? Did he forget he was going to give a speech? Che, such a stupid but arrogant assassin. All transfers are like this.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Then he began. “Number one. I’m assuming you all think there is something wrong with me, perhaps I forgot to give a speech. I assure you, though there is something wrong with me, I didn’t forget that I was giving a speech. I simply didn’t care. Number two. I never wanted to come to this stupid-ass school. It’s a pointless waste of time. My parents forced me to come here ‘cause they *in a mocking voice* had such fond memories of this place and had met each other here. Perhaps I’ll find my love life here. Number three. Now that I’ve been forced to come here, don’t ever, NEVER, come to me. Don’t touch me. Don’t talk to me. If you can, don’t even lay your disgusting eyes on me from today on. Alright, to sum it up, I would like to use a quote from a person I know. ‘F*ck you all.’ Perhaps you haven’t noticed, but it’s my quote. Okay, I’m done.”

He muted the microphone and then dropped it. He stepped on it. He applied pressure. He moved his foot side to side until the microphone was a flat plate of metal.

With much reason, from disrespecting every single thing about the school to his apparent arrogance, his speech led to an outrage within the academy’s students.

“F*ck you, you transfer. Go back to your mommy and cry yourself to sleep, you son of a b*tch.” “Yeah, beat it, you punk. You don’t belong here, you little monkey.” “F*ck off.”

However, not knowing his strength was a warning sign for the students. They didn’t dare to come fight. After another 10 minutes of shouting, which was a surprising amount of peacetime compared to other years, three challengers came out. They were all sophomores.

“Took ya a bit, afraid I’d bite you, eh? Hahahaha. I guess you gotta get three people to beat up a poor little freshman. Weak.”

“You punk, I’ll teach you your place myself. My friends here just want some front-row seats.”

“Yeah, go cry to your mommy, oh...wait, boss will kill you. We’ll tell your mommy later for you.”

“I guess you forgot my speech already. It’s fine I’ll make an exception.” He raised his hands. “Yeah, come out at me; you are all cowards. Today’s the day I’ll allow you to talk to me and look at me. If you’re capable, you can even touch me and I won’t have any hard feelings.”

This caused more outrage. That was the last straw for many. “Get ‘em Mura Tanyu! Beat him up until he dies the miserable death he deserves for staining Asashin Academy’s honor!”

Mura took out a katana and charged at the transfer student. That was the last thing he was ever going to do. He would regret it, that is, if he could choose to regret.
