To even further complicate the situation, unemployment rate had been rising as new technology took over the majority of the workforce. However, the internal crises were invisible to an outsider’s view as the society still seemed to function normally with the daily unstopping public transportation of Hypertubes carrying poor workers from home to workplace. Just like the other employees, Michael Livingstone faced the threat of getting replaced completely by technology. However, he would never see himself as ordinary and mundane as those other common people.
