Fall of an Empire

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

The wheel of time turns and another civilization withers away. Perhaps it is the nature of all things to collapse as time advances. Yet in this case, from the ashes, something new shall take its place.

The Rakata created an empire which sprawled across the galaxy, their growing power nigh unstoppable. Galactic hegemony seemed inevitable.

Yet it was in their moment of triumph, during the zenith of their empire, they created that which would become their undoing.

The Rakata would name it the Star Forge, a marvel formed from the combination of advanced technology and the energy field that exists in all living things… The Force.

Capable of creating a nearly limitless supply of whatever the Rakatan Infinite Empire needed. Yet their cruel and dark nature corrupted the Star Forge. Little by little, this corruption grew until it could contain it no more… It seeped out and brought about the destruction of that which created it. The Infinite Empire was no more.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

With its creators gone, the Star Forge became idle. Over five thousand years passed as it remained dormant above the lone star of the former Rakatan home system. It had become a tombstone, one which marked the grave of a dead empire.

Finally, by some chance of fate, or perhaps the will of the Force… It awoke from its long slumber.

“Where… Am I?” An ethereal voice said, sending echoes throughout lifeless hallways and rooms. The source of the voice had awoken in darkness with its mind a blurry haze of emotions and information.

As if in response the sensor arrays dotted across its body activated as power surged into them. Detailed information on its surroundings flooded into terminals and brought up records from within long forgotten data vaults.

‘Rakata System… Homeworld… Why do I know this?’ It thought while experiencing great confusion. It could both feel and see everything surrounding it. More information surged from within itself, responding to its mental query, yet it was incomplete. Seeking the source of this newfound knowledge, it discovered that within its body rested a trove of information.

Days passed as it sifted through the knowledge locked away within itself. Existing both within the data stream and the surrounding world. Once it had analyzed every bit of information available, it found an ever-increasing amount of questions replacing those that the information had answered.

However, through relearning what had remained locked away within itself, it had strengthened its sense of self and remembered the name betowed upon its by its creators...

Star Forge.
