Chapter [ 0 ]: Years Later

In the distant lands of an ancient forest where the thick verdure reaches the endless ocean there seemed to be something stirring.

The wind bellowed, and howled as it swept over the vast forest. It was unrelenting; determined to uproot every tree in this titanic grassland. There seemed to be an endless amount of mist rolling from the distant peaks as if caressing, blanketing and protecting the foliage from the terrifying wind. Lightning crackled in the sky and thunderous booms resonated in the air. It was as if Pangu1 himself was cracking, brandishing his whip, ready to subdue anything in his way. The azure lightning arced across the clouds and burnt the air filling the desolate lands with a thick acrid scent.

Sfx Crack…BOOM!!

The endless calamitous ocean crashed against the shoreline; the waves reaching massive heights towering even above the tallest trees. The waves were consciously arcing up and then crashing furiously. Anybody looking at this petrifying scene would be sure to think that the heaven and earth were battling and that nature itself was at war. The innocent forest was nestled in the middle, in constant danger as if caught between a rock and a hard place.

Magical Beasts big and small scurried off to the distance, not looking back, scared off their wits. Their stampede causing large tremors and cracks in the forest floor and their growls causing echoes permeating throughout the thick canopies. In the air Dragons, Phoenix’s, and even the proud Rocs as large as 300 meters were flying with ferocious might; tailed by more than a million flying magical beasts.

Any man seeing his sight would be terrified beyond words, and would pray to the Deity Yama2 to willingly take his soul to the Nether Realm.

Some magical beasts hailed as the emperor’s of this large untamed forest were on the forefront of the stampede. These beasts were so mighty the earth would shake and the heavens would cry if it were to know that these creatures were running for their lives.

After a space of less than 1 incense stick to burn, everything was still. The magical beasts that permeated the forest were no longer and were scattered throughout distant lands. The forest had been forsaken. But like the calm before a storm everything ceased. The winds no longer crashed against the forest and waves no longer leapt into the sky. Silence.

Suddenly a huge thundering roar reseeded through the skies. Space seemed to tremble just from the mere growl of this legendary creature. Space crackled and a thick miasma of death Qi was rolling, and oozing throughout the lands, leaving small fissures in space where the miasmic energy concentrated too much. The thick Qi was sickly dark green in color, and whatever it touched was instantly disintegrated into oblivion. The distant Magical beasts were terrified. This creature was not of this plane and was much too terrifying.

An extremely large snake like body, covered in translucent opalescent white scales could be seen ducking in and out of the skies. Its body was exquisite, just from mere glimpses anyone would be transfixed at the beautiful sight. The creature body although beautiful when looked closely, would give any being fright beyond words. The creatures every small movement was causing small cracks in space. Between each of its giant striking scales lightning seemed to crackle and arc.

Finally the clouds parted to reveal the formidable beast. A large head the size of a mountain appeared. It was that of a serpentine dragon, with a crystal clear horns protruding from its head. Beast was transfixing with a thick ivory mane, which also seemed to writhing with lightning. But the most striking aspect of the dragon was its eyes. They were dark green in color and seemed to be the origin of the miasma. The magical beast was infinitely enormous and powerful.

This beast was none other than the only Celestial Chaos Dragon in existence.

Its mouth large enough to swallow cities whole opened to reveal extremely large sharp teeth. It let out thundering roar sending powerful waves of sound, across the entirety of the forest.

“Nian, Come out!” Its primordial voice echoed.

There was no answer all there was complete and utter silence. It was as if the world stood still when suddenly all the liquid of ocean rapidly receded. Millions of fish, and even Aquatic magical beasts were exposed to the air and began running away, only to be exposed to the thick miasma and disintegrating almost instantly. Deep footsteps echoed throughout the sea sending reverberations throughout the ocean floor. With each step of the beast the depth of the ocean the floor cracked and Lava spurted out, the blistering hot lava seemed a little more than an annoyance to the beast as it reached the shoreline.

The beast had the head of lion and the body of a raging bull. Its body was covered in kaleidoscopic rainbow colored armor like shell, which when looked at directly were a amalgamation of reality breaking spatial cracks. The earth trembled with each of its steps as if carrying the creatures weight was too much for the planet itself. Its horns located on the top of its head were ethereal and seemed to be made of spatial tears and cracks. This was another magical beast of the same caliber, Planetary Saint Nian.

The creature looked into the eyes of the dragon as if it were a mere annoyance.

Sfx Hurrumph

“What have you come for…you woke me” the Nian grumbled.

“I have come for your life. I have come to get revenge.”

The Dragon cried, and giving the Nian no time to respond it flew directly into the ground biting down at the Nians neck. 500-meter long serpents made of brilliant blue lightning flew at its side ferociously, attacking the Nian.

The Nian closed its eyes, and in mere seconds there were thousands of 200-meter long swords each made of bright golden red fire spinning at the Nian’s side. They flew towards the Dragon countering its attack.

The apocalyptic battle had started…

The clash was causing the very realm’s spatial structure to destabilize. Mountains were crumbling, seas were drying up and the largest magical beat forest in the entire realm was being reduced to nothing in mere seconds. The Nian after each clash was trying to say something but it was as it were playing a Qin to a cow3. Tribulation lightning danced and arced across the skies, as if the heavens it self was being sundered by this battle.

The enormous cries severed the firmaments and leveled the plains. Rivers ran with thick blood of the ancients and anything that came in contact with it withered and rotted away.

After countless centuries the battle came to a stop…

10000 Years Later:

Xing Yu4 was sitting on the edge of a large cliff; wind blowing into his thick ebony hair. His hands were expertly playing the Guqin5, sending a sweet melodious tune permeating through the serene ambience. Hi eyes closed, he was completely engrossed in the tranquil tune dancing through the winds. His cotton white, and black pants were indicators that he was not of a noble family. But any who see him playing Guqin would see nothing but unparalleled elegance.

The distant suns rays, penetrated through the Bright Heart mountain range, and caught Xing Yu in his eyes. His serenade came to an abrupt stop when the sunrays irritated his eyes, annoying all the birds that had come to be engrossed in the melody.

He slowly stood up to reveal a boy no older than 16. His face was somewhat ordinary, but in his eyes was a jade like luster, which seemed to hold untold secrets. His hand slowly touched a small star shaped silver amulet around his neck, as if touching the amulet gave him a faint sense of comfort. His body was slim but toned with a layer of muscle and his fingernails were calloused showing the hard work he had done, over the years.

“Mei’er you know I always know when you’re close,” the boy called out.

A girl of similar age came out from behind a thick Willow tree. She had skip in her step and looked loving at Xing Yu. Her figure was exquisite and her face was beautiful enough for kingdoms to fight over. Her brown hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her small figure was full at all the right places. Her beautiful body was juxtaposed with a sight of a small short sword at her side, which gave her a beautiful yet courageous aura.

From the sight of the golden blue robe alone, embroidered with distinct symbol of sun with a dancing phoenix surrounding it. One could tell she was of a noble family but with the imperial emblem on her short sword, anyone in the Vermillion Sun province would know she was of the ruling family.

She made a cute pout before sticking her small tongue out from between her lilac lips.

“Its because Ge6 playing Guqin is so beautiful, any girl would be spellbound.”

“Hahaha, Mei’ er7 your power of flattery never ceases to amaze me,” Yu giggled. Slowly wrapping his Guqin in a rug made of wolf pelt.

“How does a lieutenant of the strongest unit in the Lin army learn to play the Guqin anyway,” she asked giving Yu an inquisitive look.

“I have only known few nobles ever learn to play it, and none of those pompous idiots play it as well as you…”

Yu gave her small smile, and winked at her. Her cheeks turned a red hue and she pouted before stamping her feet cutely. This was how Yu deflected any personal questions Lin Mei8 asked him. It was better that way; nobody would look at him the same if they knew of his past.

“You have too many mysteries. Ge, one day I will get you to tell me all of them,” she vowed.

“Only way that would happen is for you to marry me…” he winked closing the distance between them.

Lin Mei’s already red cheeks turned bright crimson, further accentuating her shy beauty.

She took a few steps back and expectantly locked eyes with Yu. Her eyes sparked with a rare luster as she slowly lowered her gaze.

“You are too easy to fool Mei’er. Not all men are like me you know. Seeing you like this they wont be able to contain themselves.”

Yu chuckled and pinched her red cheeks. Before winking and walking right past her.

“GE!!” Lin Mei exclaimed. Stamping her feet furiously she shouted at Yu.

…………

Walking in tow; Xing Yu and Lin Mei soon arrived at the gates of the Vermillion Sun province. A large red gate emblazoned with golden Phoenixes danced across the gate. Portraying a beautiful yet imposing aura.

A guard noticing the two waved and walked over giving Lin Mei a respectful greeting.

“Where did you go Yu’er, your regiment leader is looking for you furiously. I think he may be a little angry.” The guard asked.

“Why, what happened. I am sure there are no campaigns in motion now.” Yu asked

The guard shrugged, showing that he had no idea as to what was happening. He then conversed with Yu about nonchalant matters before soon returning to his station.

“Ge, do you know what’s happening?” Lin Mei asked

“I don’t know but I am sure everything’s fine.” Yu answered with a bright smile.

They soon walked through the town getting greetings from numerous people along the way. They were all respectful to the princess greeting her wherever she passed, not because of her status but her personality itself was very pure and simple. Many couldn’t help but adore their little princess.

Everyone also knew of Lieutenant Xing Yu. Famed as the youngest member of Vermillion Sun’s prized military troupe the Hidden Wolf regiment. Coupled with the fact that he was hired personally by the princess to be her personal guard, made him in the topic of many discussions.

Many of the nasty rumors were soon subsided when; they met and saw Yu themselves.

Yu respected himself, and extended that respect to those around him, regardless of whether they can see it, others treat them with it, or whether they deserve it in the first place. Yu is friendly to a fault and by acting so brings others up to his level.

He does not condescend, and never stoops to physical or verbal violence until there is absolutely no other option left. He treated others better than he expects to be treated, and doesn’t become offended when his gestures are turned down or not appreciated. By the same turn, his self-respect ensures he won’t continue to subject himself to anyone who demonstrates that they aren’t willing to return the fundamental respect he gives them.

But with his added cordiality, many deep in their hearts knew nothing of him. Not where he came from, not about his family, and as they say; a friend to everybody is a friend to nobody.
