In a world of magic, fantastic races, and gods, Bao is a young man who continues to grow restless in his small community of hamlets as he feels like his life has already been determined for him. Feeling as though he has no agency in his life, and wanting to see firsthand if the stories he has heard are true, he sets off into the larger world. With only the skills and tools gained from a life in the jungle, Bao embarks on something that could hardly be called a journey or quest. On his travels, Bao discovers that life is not as tranquil as he had hoped. He encounters suffering, apathy, and conflict. As he struggles to maintain his own sense of the world, he learns he is not the only one trying to overcome the presuppositions of others. The people he meets along the way drive him to confront the gods and ask them the crucial question: Are We Destined?
