The Adventurer Guild
After that Antonidas left the Magic Academy with Jiu Mei, he decided to head towards the Adventurer guild.
Antonidas has currently only 71 silver coins left. He booked for three days in the inn which cost 9 silver coins including meals, 20 silver coins in the newly sword he bought and 2 gold coins from the Magic Academy entrance's fees.
He wanted to earned money through the adventurer guild since he was a former adventurer in his former world before becoming a researcher. Reaching the adventurer guild, the large building in front of him make him feels nostalgic. It was the same kind of adventurer guild's building he used to see back in the days when he first started aiming to become an adventurer.
The building was made from stone and wasn't huge but the decoration of the building was quite good, opening the western door, he entered inside the building. Inside the building, a large room looking like a bar with dozens of adventurers drinking alcohol sitting on their tables. Some of them were in front of the counter, selling the goods they earned through monsters or magical beasts.
Upon entering inside the building, a waitress and welcomed them.
"Welcome to the adventurer guild! Oh, you are from the Magic Academy! You don't seems to be someone from the city, are you perhaps here to join the adventurer guild?"
After noticing the young boy's clothes, the waitress tensed. Since she wasn't really polite, she was afraid of him making troubles since she talked casually with him but Antonidas didn't mind and only nodded his head.
"Then please follow me this way."
The waitress guided them to another room which was written registration above the door. She pointed at the reception while giving him the registration files and explained the details to him.
"You need first to register writing your name, age, job and choose what kind of missions you are expecting from the adventurer guild, the mission available here are escort missions, collect missions or subjugation missions. You'll need start at the bottom of the adventurer and can't choose your missions until reaching the rank C... "
The adventurer system was the same as his former world, one need to start at the bottom of the adventurer as a F-Rank adventurer and by accomplishing missions, you could upgrade to rank E,D,C,B,A then to the pinnacles of the adventurer the S-Rank adventurer.
Missions were ranked as the same as the adventurer ranking depending on the missions. Collecting medicinal herbs or subjugating weak monsters as goblins could be done right after registration since it were a F-rank missions.
Antonidas still remembered all the trouble he went through before reaching the S-Rank adventurer. He didn't had much magic power back then and cultivated really hard to become stronger learning hundred to thousands cultivating techniques. It took him more than fifty year to become the strongest magician of his former world, it was something that he was really proud of himself just thinking about it.
The only thing different from his former world was the top tier adventurer. After reaching the S-Rank adventurer and succeeding several B or A-rank missions, one could be promoted to the SSS-Rank adventurer, this one could have extremely good treatment from the adventurer guild and could also choose the most dangerous such as S-rank missions such as subjugating dragons, vampires or even demon lords. Learning that there were such legendary adventurer, he wanted to meet them once.
After registering to the adventurer guild, it was already midday. Antonidas started to feeling hungry but at the same time, he didn't want to eat at the inn. The meals didn't taste good. If the inn was popular for its cheap price and spacious room, its meals were bad enough for the people who sleep in the inn to eat in a restaurant near the inn or looking for cheap stalls. Antonidas didn't wanted to spend anymore money, thus, he decided to go outside the town to chase magical beasts and make Jiu Mei cooked for him since he missed her cooking.
Outside the town near a plain that was called the Rabbits Plain, Antonidas went deep in the forest looking for horned-rabbits. Fortunately, he had magic detection so it was easy for him to hunt horned-rabbits and he hunted quite a few of them.
After thirty minutes of hunting, they caught tens horned-rabbits, encountered two groups of horned-wolves and 3 groups of goblins.
Of course, Antonidas didn't forget to dismember the subjugation proofs and also take magic stones from the monsters. Each monster dropped magic stones with the same ranking as the monsters. Goblins were F-rank monsters so they dropped F-rank magic stones. those magic stones could be either use for weak magic weapons creation or magic gear. It could also be use for creating runes that could later on be added on defensives gear becoming enchantment or be fused together becoming a better magic stones through a special manufacturing but it was something only Antonidas know.

They also found few medicinal herbs, ingredients that could be used either for creating health potions, magic power pills or Qi strengthening pills. It was only after an hour of hunting that they decided to take a break inside the forest.
Antonidas ignited a fire with his fire magic. Even though Jiu Mei already saw him used different kind of magic elements several times back in the castle, he never really mind about it. Jiu Mei didn't really know a lot about magic and she was someone who YuHan trusted deep in his heart. Maybe it was YuHan's feeling or maybe it was Antonidas' feelings who changed after living with Jiu Mei for a long time, but Antonidas thought that Jiu Mei was already part of his family and he didn't hate that kind of feelings either. It was different from the teacher-students relation he had with his former students and since Antonidas' relatives died when he was still a baby, it was a strange but yet comfortable feeling.
After that Antonidas set a fire camp and dismantled the horned-rabbits, Jiu Mei took the rabbit meats and started the preparation for a rabbit stew. The preparation was quick and Antonidas was already drooling once he smelled the odour from the rabbit stew. His stomach was already grumbling for a while and the breakfast at the inn didn't helped to fill his belly for the day either. Once the rabbit stew was finally cooked, Antonidas couldn't helped but eat 5 portions because of his hunger. Seeing how much appetite Antonidas had, Jiu Mei couldn't helped but giggles.
"You sure eat a lot recently, where does all those foods goes? I wonder."
Before Jiu Mei could even finished her sentence, Antonidas noticed a strange noise, it was the noise of the footsteps of an animal. He quickly took his sword near to him and unsheated the sword.
It was a reflex that Antonidas always had while camping outside and especially when he was in a forest. In front of him, a black horned-wolf two or three times bigger than normal horned-wolves. "A Shadow Star-Wolf!" Antonidas already heard from the knights who traveled with him about a rare specimen of wolves inside this forest, it was the Shadow Star-Wolf a dangerous wolf that could even kill a C-rank adventurers group. It was a rare D-rank monster that often attacked adventurers who went near his niche, he didn't expect the Shadow Star-Wolf to suddenly appear there.
The Shadow Star-Wolf glared at him and without wasting time jump on the ground in its shadow and disappeared. "What just happened?"
Dumbfounded by the Shadow Star-Wolf who suddenly disappeared as if he had entered inside his own shadow, Antonidas directly activated his magic radar.
The magic radar was a spell that wasn't hard to learn and anyone could learn it even if they had weak magic power. The distance of the radar depended on the magic power and the magic control of the user.
Since Antonidas could only sensed up to 10 meters surrounding him, he couldn't use it to chase an enemy who already to flee away from him, but since the wolf decided to fight, it was a really good spell against enemies who could hide their presence or become invisible.
Watching the radar, he noticed a red point on his right side, looking towards his right side, he saw a shadow advancing at an amazing speed towards him and without wasting any time, he inwardly shouted. "Earth Needles!"
The ground suddenly started shaking and earth needles appeared from the ground in front of the shadow. With a *Ting* sound, the Shadow Star-Wolf appeared above the earth needles but not a single trace of wounds could be seen."What a robust fur." The earth needles only stopped the wolf's movements but the wolf itself was perfectly fine. Noticing that earth spell won't work on him, he decided to enhance his sword. His sword suddenly started to shine, the light blinded the area surrounding him and without a trace Antonidas disappeared.
Antonidas actually used body strengthening magic. Even though it was a weak enhancing, it was still enough to fight as equal ground against an adult. It was only an enhancement of 2 minutes so he needed to quickly end the fight otherwise it would be problematic to kill the Shadow Star-Wolf after the effects ended. He also used a speed enhancement and jumped, landing behind the wolf and pierced its back.
Since the sword was enchanted by light magic, the Shadow Star-Wolf received a fatal wound and tried to kick Antonidas with its hind legs, waiting for that move, Antonidas dodged the kick while removing the sword from its back and slice the Shadow Star-Wolf horizontally. The wolf howled and fell on the ground.
Antonidas who forget Jiu Mei's presence. Even though he showed her different spells, he actually never showed her chantless incantation nor body strengthening . Looking around searching for Jiu Mei, he heard a cry few meters away.
The cry seems familiar to him. If he didn't misunderstood it was probably Jiu Mei's voice so he ran as fast as he could. Once he arrived at the place, Jiu Mei was lying on the ground wounded and unconscious. Above her body, another Shadow Star-Wolf. The wolf didn't seem to notice Antonidas so he quickly run towards him, the moment the wolf turned its head, directing towards him, smalls lightning needles fall above its head and paralyzed the wolf.
Seeing that his spell worked, Antonidas cut the wolf's head with its sword. The wolf fell on the ground and instantly died. It was a literally a five-seconds kill. Without wasting any time, he casted light healing magic on Jiu Mei.
"Jiu Mei! Wake up! Are you alright?!"
Antonidas spammed his light healing magic but Jiu Mei still didn't moved. He was worried that the wound was maybe too deep, but after a short moment the wound slowly closed and her eyebrow slightly frown. Noticing that she was no longer in danger, he left the place bringing Jiu Mei with him and left the Shadow Star-Wolf's body.
Arriving at the place where they set the fire camp near the first Shadow Star-Wolf's body, Antonidas laid Jiu Mei on the ground after putting a small barrier surrounding her, then he started dismantling the first Shadow Star-Wolf who was next to the fire camp. He saw the bounty for them back in the adventurer guild, and it was quite high. He returned to the place where he found Jiu Mei and dismantled the other one. Once he finished collecting the subjugation proofs and the fur, he returned towards Jiu Mei who already woke up.
Jiu Mei who noticed the barrier surrounding her, saw Antonidas coming back and bowed towards him. She first intend to call for help when she saw him fighting with the Shadow Star-Wolf but after getting caught by another one, she fell unconscious after the wolf jumped on her.
"I'm sorry for worrying you master."
Antonidas waved his hand saying he didn't mind and said with a worried expression.
"Do your wound still hurt you? I was really worried once I saw you unconscious lying on the ground, wounded."
Jiu Mei showed a charming smile and said.
"Yes, I'm alright thanks to master!"
Once Antonidas confirmed that Jiu Mei was totally fine, they headed back to the town. It was almost the time to head back to the Magic Academy.
