Looking at my hand, changed after the absorption, taking on a darker bluish skin tone similar to the dark elves, with a weird hybrid look. I haven’t really noticed it, I think, but my arms and legs look a bit more reptilian, basilisk like. There are scales on my arms and legs slowly creeping onto the torso of my vessel, same with the dark blue skin tone typical to dark elves. But my torso and neck is still snow whitish like it used to be in my life before I started this whole journey through worlds.
Memory wise, I didn’t gain much, just a few flashy images of some dark elf mage, the necromancer to be more specific. Seems like the dragon assaulted their cities and killed most of them, with a few including the necromancer entering into service of the dragon. It even achieved lichdom, the twisted obelisks in this room are proof of that. Well, the Dark Elf Lich still remains on the bottom layer of the mountain, so for now he’ll be a future problem for now. At least, I hope so. Well, I gained control over the undead that were tied to the twisted obelisk that contained a small part of his sliced off soul. Now time for some inspection in the Divine Space of mine.
Gaining control over that many undead is quite taxing, I’m not going to lie. Controlling a few was relatively easy, but this many… it is headache inducing even here in my Divine Space. It is a weird experience, I didn’t really notice this with the few I had before, but I’m weirdly aware of all of them. To be more specific, I have a mental image of all of them, their looks, their capabilities, what they sort of think as an undead if that makes sense.
And besides that, the orb that represents the Magical Aspect of Death changed places. Now it has its own wicked looking island, with some ruined arches and obelisks surrounding it, a long bridge made out of some dark, edgy stones connects it to the main island, the orb itself no longer floats above an altar, but now changed into a tree similar to the one on the “main island”. But this one is much smaller, and the branches have like hundreds of small, purplish light giving off a soft glow in the darkness, pulsing in small intervals to be more specific.
Now let’s tinker them.
First things first, I just sent all of them the simple command of staying in one place and don’t move, just for safety I’ll add a self-defense command on top of that.
It also seems like there was only one undead construct, the one with the Minotaur head among these undead, the rest are zombies and skeletons. At least so far looking through the vision of each undead seems to confirm that, even though it makes me feel a bit dizzy. There are many, who probably were part of the dark elves living near the entrance to the bottom layer, their rotten bodies bearing burn marks. Then there are some goblins, ogres that weren’t mine, a few barghests and some other kinds of monsters living on this layer of the mountain. And dwarves.
The dwarven zombies are quite well-equipped compared to even the dark elven ones, who mostly seem to be former citizens instead of soldiers. There are not that many, though, maybe a few dozen among the hundreds of undead. But their equipment is in a good shape and seemed to be enchanted with some kind of curse, similar to the barehanded undead. Seems like I won’t have to be there in person to raise new undead.
Now, what to do with the dwarven undead? For now, I think I leave them on the border mixed in with the others, possibly get one or two to be my special bodyguards till I get some components for my own undead constructs, or I raise something better, stronger.
Now those are taken care of, I select a few monster undead with large physique and group them together in three groups. Those will be the hunters, recruiters for my forces. The command is set, and they start walking out from the long pathway they are stationed at currently, meeting up in a mid-sized section, then they set off leaving this part. Thankfully, my fear of this spell having a range is deconstructed when they get further away from us.

Now with the larger and normal-sized undead set on course, time to tinker with the smaller ones. The tiny ones. Seems like the lich also raised bugs like flies and spiders, mostly for scouting and spying on the others. I haven’t really thought of that, if I’m being honest with myself.
Because of that, there is not much to tinker with those, except sending them back from where they were stationed before I absorbed the small piece of soul. For some reason, all the undead that weren’t a few meters away from me, and not mine previously started to make their way towards me, which is kind of alarming to me. Like if someone seen that, they are now well aware of something happening here. Kind of killing my element of surprise, so to speak.
Well, not much to do now about that, so let’s just send the bugs back, and review some past information they accumulated and formerly sent to the lich.
The information quickly flows into my mind, a tall altar with a large oval pot on top of it filled with bluish like the mind orb, liquid raises out from the ground and the surface of the liquid reflects various images showing a quite beautiful pale elven lady, a moon elf I think, with a lower body of a giant spider with at least 10 or 11 eyes. There are two definitely on her quite attractive elven head, and 8 or 9 on the front of the spider body just above the hook like body parts, whatever their names are. She also has quite the long platinum silver whitish hair covering her naked body, with ample breasts covered in dark chitin like armour, similar in colour to her spider body. Oh wait, the armour also extends towards her elven abdomen. Quite hard to see, the undead fly whose memory I see was flying quite rapidly all over the place, giving a shaky image, so I kind of have to stop the memory every second or so. Well, nothing is perfect. But at least now I know that an Arachne undoubtedly lives and leads the spiders. Oh, wait no, actually it is three Arachnes, the other two also have the upper body of beautiful moon elves. They are all surrounded by three pretty large spiders, probably their bodyguards.
Meanwhile, at the place, which was neatly built in by the dwarves, there are a band of vampires wearing dark metallic light armour, no weapons though. Their claws are sharp enough to use as weapons, and they are strong enough physically, so they don’t really need a weapon except three, that wear dark reddish robes with a weird symbol on it holding a staff with a weird bat like metallic small gargoyle sitting on top of it. Seems like those three are the leaders of the vampires. Look wise they appear more human or elven like compared to the others that have bat like monstrous facial features.
But no necromancer among them. There are quite the many corpses of dwarves and even some orcs and humans laying on the darkish stone floors of the large halls occupied by the vampires, who number a few hundred at least. Now the question is which one I want to take out first? I mean, I have to, there is no telling which one will attack me in the back if I start progressing downwards to the bottom layer. On one hand, the spiders, probably the easier ones. They are not armoured like the vampires, but their carapaces are probably as strong. Plus, they don’t have corpses left behind for me, unlike the vampires that I could easily raise up and use as fodder at the least.
On the other hand, vampires have three mages with them who are a tough foe for my undead, but losing some is not that big of a deal, and Arachnes are natural-born spellcasters, so I guess if I’m going to make a decision, I shouldn’t weigh in the mages. Even if they have affinity for the magical aspect of Fire, which seems weird to me, but you never know.
Hmm, I go with my gut feeling, and one of my previous lives' obsession with vampires for the next target. Not the best way to decide, but I can be reckless to an extent.
Well that will be all for now, I exit my Divine Space, and I’m back in the small room where the twisted obelisk was surrounded by the others, now I’m surrounded by the undead ogres that followed me here, and a few more zombies in the back staring at us with their dead and empty eyes.
I slowly unfold my legs, sitting in a cross-legged position is still not for me, I think, the cracking of my knees indicating it. Now I guess I should start by trimming the forces of the vampires slowly before an all-out attack, so I guess the few undead sent out now have their exact targets.
Until then, let’s brainstorm and continue surveying the vampires.
