Chapter 8: Enlightenment

Chapter 8: Enlightenment

It seems Lutius had an obsession with fainting. Not knowing whether to smile or cry, Lutius was currently on his bed listening to Trixie narrate what happened before and after he fainted.

[Host, due to the influx of emotions you experienced together with the fact that you were on the very edge of ranking up, you were able to easily brush past the barrier separating Primary mages and Intermediate Mages. It seems that fate was on your side as you are now a Low Levelled Intermediate Chaos Sorcerer]

[Answering hosts follow up question……...]

[Answering……….]

[……..]

[I have arrived at the conclusion that… I have deduced that… I don’t know]

Listening to the voice of Trixie, Lutius smiled at the hints of confusion, sadness and shock in the tone of her voice.

‘It seems there is even something not even an entity like Trixie can deduce,’ Lutius thought.

[Using deductive reasoning utilizing fragments of memories restored from Host’s younger self on Earth- Philosophy- It can be inferred that there is order in chaos and vice versa. Using this reasoning as a basis, Host was able to use the Chaos element which allowed the host to control the SE inside of the bandits’ bodies, causing it to influence their minds. A very simple and possibly accurate example- Lelouch Vi Britannia Geass abilities.]

“Well then, this should be interesting. Trixie is it commanding people or simply influencing them?” Lutius asked as though they sounded similar in effect, they were very different in practise.

[Host can only influence the target. As host has theorised, if the person is strong enough mentally, the target will be able to break free from the influence. The flip side, as you would say on Earth, was that you can influence the same person multiple times, instead of just once as the Geass in the anime from Earth]

Feeling satisfied with this boost in power, Lutius decided to do some tests. Getting out of bed and making his way to the barracks where the elite soldiers were resting and training, Lutius’ intention was to find the limits of this ability. Reaching his destination, Lutius looked for someone who was at the Exalted Primary Level, someone who was at his level and finally someone stronger than him.

“Chaos!” Lutius said as he activated the magic. Walking up to a soldier that was resting at the side of the training field with no one around him, who happened to be a new recruit, he commanded “Say you hate me.”

Before the soldier got time to stand and salute, Lutius had spoken. Looking confused for a second the soldier spoke, “I… h..ate you.” After the magic faded, Lutius noticed the soldier’s eyes had something change, a wisp faded out from it after which Lutius noticed fear and apprehension appeared in the soldier’s eye.

“Your Highness! I don’t know what came over me to say something like that! I am ready for whatever punishment you decide to enact!” The soldier was beyond flustered as he dropped to his knees and spoke quickly pleading for forgiveness.

Getting an idea Lutius tried something else.

“Chaos! - Forget ever meeting me here.” As Lutius said this he noticed that the eyes still had the same fear and apprehension, and nothing had changed. Quickly reactivating the spell, he did something different. “Chaos!- You will create a mental block of the entire conversation and interaction between you and I that just occurred” As the soldiers eyes clouded over, Lutius knowing that it working quickly ran away and hid out of the soldier’s sight. After a few seconds the wisp flew out and Lutius appeared again in-front he soldiers.

“Praise His Highness! Praise to the Prince of Order!” The soldier immediately saluted before standing at attention waiting for his orders.

Smiling to himself, Lutius made his was way back to his room before taking out a communication artifact and calling for Eobard.

On his way he managed to meet his older brother, Lucian, and they walked together for a bit whilst talking about various topics concerning kingdom governance, foreign issues etc. Remembering that they were almost the same level in realm, Lutius decided to give his new ability a try.

“Chaos! – tell me the truth and answer me, where were you two days ago around midnight,” Lutius said with a small grin on his face. As Lucian’s eyes clouded up, he answered.

“I… I was with Serenity…,” Lucian said. Of course, Lutius knew about the little village girl that for some reason, Lucian was trying his best to hide from everyone. Before Lucian can regain his senses, Lutius commanded the same as he did with the solider, making Lucian to create a mental blockage around the memory of the question. After Lucian’s eyes cleared up, knowing the spell’s effect was over, Lutius asked again, “So where were you two days ago, a bit before midnight?”

“Huh? Uh I was sleeping obviously, why? Did something happen? Oh, sorry bro I remembered I had something to do. We will chat later. Bye,” Lucian said as he quickly scurried off.

Giggling to himself, Lutius arrived in his room.

“Your Highness?”

Hearing Eobard’s voice right out his door, Lutius acted after unlocking the door with magic, allowing Eobard to enter.

“Chaos! - Bring me the Palace’s Mage, staff of Darkness,” Lutius ordered with a mischievous smirk on his face. Ever since Lutius knew Eobard and Vronearth, Eobard was always trying to get Vronearth to lend him his staff that he found in an ancient ruin a long time ago. However, fearing the Eobard might break it somehow, though staffs was nigh unbreakable, Vronearth would always deny him and kept the staff close to him at all times.

This was an experiment Lutius came up with on the spur of the moment as it would allow him to answer some questions he had. For instance, if they person failed at something once or if there was some obstacle impeding the person from completing the task, would that person give up and or would he persevere at the cost of his on life. However, although Eobard’s eyes clouded over for a moment, it returned to its clear state.

“Your highness you know that Vronearth won’t even let me come within a foot of the staff much less give it to me to bring for you. I can call him here if you wish?” Eobard said with a half-smile on his face as he shrugged.

‘High levelled Magic Knight… 1 major or 6 sub tiers higher than me… well atleast the spell activated momentarily stunning him even though it was for a microsecond,’ Lutius thought to self.

Seeing that Lutius hadn’t responded to him Eobard decided to bring up a topic which had been on his mind for a while.

“Your highness, it has come to my attention that a few major bandit strongholds have been eradicated for the past few months. I suspect *they* are behind this. I have already posited this hypothesis to His Majesty and thankfully we have captured an errant bandit who was trying his best to escape the jaws of death that befell his fellowmen. In my opinion your element of order will be useful in proving my theory which I hope is the case. If the truth is that there is another force at hand here that we know naught about… sigh.” As Eobard said this, Lutius could see the burden on his shoulders. He was responsible for the covert forces of the kingdom whose main responsibility was gathering information in a timely matter, so that any issues can be squashed before they become a public menace. In the case of bandit hideouts being overthrown and robbed, with some of the slaves being released and some going missing, Eobard was truly worried.

‘Trixie, what is your sugge…’

[ Tell him.]

‘Yes ma’am.’

“Eobard, I am more than willing to use my ability, but not today. Also, I think I am close in formulating a new spell, but I wish not to try it on palace grounds. Meet me at the spot where the last bandit’s hideout was raided… *cough*um, where was that by the way?” Sweat formed on Lutius’ eyebrows as he realised, he almost slipped out.

‘True he will be told tomorrow but got to have that impact.’

“Hmm, sure that can be arranged, and it was here,” withdrawing a map from his space ring, Eobard pointed out the spot.

About 5 minutes after Eobard left, Alpha appeared by his side. The black suit sticking to Alpha’s skin, accentuating her curvaceous body and vibrant assets, while seemingly blending into the dark crevices of the rooms and giving the illusion of someone fading in and out of existence. Yes, just like the Nightingales.

“Every time I see it, I can help but wonder how great a man had to be to create a spell like this, *and* gift it to our kingdom just for offering him some aid. Life is truly mysterious.” Lutius said whilst gazing out his window, towards the forest.

“The Leviathan organization will be revealed to Eobard tomorrow, well partially. My brothers and I have finally decided to create the Fenrir and Cerberus group, and I plan to have some uncover agents within the groups. It is not that I don’t trust my family, but look at my sister, and even Rose. I will not make the same mistake again. Alpha, I have a goal which may seem, crazy to some. Some may even call me arrogant or stupid. Some in the future may even call me the devil incarnate. What say you, Alpha. Will you stand by me as I conquer the world? Hahaha,” Lutius giggled as he said this truly ambitious plan.

“My Lord, be it devils or gods, man or creature, heaven or hell, I will always stand by your side. To conquer a country, a continent, the world. To be known as demons, devils, angels, matters not. You ask and it shall be done!” Alpha’s bold words rang out in the room.

The truth of the matter was that something had been flashing near Lutius’ head a while now, ever since Eobard stepped outside his room. A message in golden letters.

“You haven’t forgotten your task, have you now, Mr. Michael.”
