This is my first attempt at writing so any feedback positive or negative would be great
Nathan opens his eyes reluctantly once again, faced with the disappointment of waking up. He gets up out of his bed and walks over to his PC, the same thing he’s done every day for the last two years since he left school after being bullied into depression. He avoids and hasn’t spoken to his family in months since he hates being pitied by them. He sits down at his desk and launches his PC. He turns on an RPG game, his only escape from reality. Nathan sits at his desk, staring at his screen and playing his game for hours, completely immersed until his stomach rumbles. “Oh yeah I haven’t eaten in a few days huh?” Nathan stands up to go get food but his head goes dizzy, his eyes fuzzy, and his knees buckle as he passes out.
Nathan’s eyes begin to open, plagued by a burning sensation as they do, which makes him struggle to open them. Once he finally gets them open, he looks around and sees blue grass. He stands up shocked and looks at the trees; they’re huge with blue leaves. Nathan smiles, “Another world!” He jumps up exclaiming “IM IN ANOTHER WORLD!” He laughs and jumps around until his stomach aches, and he remembers, “Right, I haven’t eaten in two days.” He calms down and thinks about novels about other worlds and how to access his powers. He starts with pointing his finger out and saying, “Fireball.” But nothing comes out. He shrugs and says, “System?” Nothing again; he’s confused now, and then his eyes light up with an idea. He postures himself, raises his hand, and shouts, “EXCALIBUR!” Nathan stands in position as if nothing happens. He sighs and frowns, sitting down and stroking his chin. “So fantasy world with no powers great.” He stands up again and stretches, deciding to forget about powers for now and look for food.
Nathan explores for a while not finding anything, and just getting hungrier. He starts to get annoyed and takes a break, resting up against a tree. He stays there for a while until he hears a snarl. He quickly rises to his feet, and backs away from the goblin as it snarls, and moves closer to him salivating, as it does. Nathan shakes nervously and says, “Hey if I ask you not to eat me would you listen?” The goblin charges at Nathan, slashing at him with a wooden knife. Nathan barely tries to dodge since it's a wooden knife, but in his arrogance he leaves himself wide open and the goblin slashes him, and Nathan stumbles back in pain from the cut to his chest. Shocked by how painful and deep it is, he begins to sweat nervously and try to apply pressure to his wound and stop the bleeding, but in his panic he forgot something crucial: the goblin that was now launching at him with its knife. Nathan tries to dodge to the side but is too slow, his arm and his arm is completely severed from his body, he falls over as he screams out in pain. and he tries to put pressure on his wound and stop the blood pouring out from it.
Nathan tears up as he holds his arm, or lack thereof, and tries to stop the bleeding. As he does that, the goblin laughs at him and tries to stab it's wooden knife into Nathan’s head, but Nathan is overcome with rage. He moves his head, making the goblin strike it's knife into the ground, and Nathan headbutts the goblin, shocking it and making it stumble back. Nathan gets up running on adrenaline. He flying knees the goblin, the face landing on the bleeding panting goblin. Nathan looks down at it with disdain as he repeatedly hits the goblin with hammerfist strikes, breaking it's face “Die fucker!” he exclaims in his rage. Nathan stands up and begins to stamp on the goblins neck repeatedly until it's no longer breathing. Nathan takes a breath and checks the goblins pulse; it's dead. Nathan sighs and falls backward, hyperventilating as his pain, blood loss, and shock catch up to him. As he begins to lose his consciousness, he sees something pop up above him, but his eyes close, and he passes out.
Nathan wakes up. He takes a second to realise his surrounding. He was expecting to wake up in his bed, not in a forest, but when he remembered the goblin, he sat up fast, grabbing his severed arm. “It's… fine?” He’s confused, but happy. He also touches the cut on his chest; it's gone too. He stands up and sees a “Quest Tab?” He tries pressing it, but his fingers go through, and then he says,“Open.” Nathan watches as it opens into a new tab that reads “Hidden Quest: Survive” he reads lower, “Completed” He smiles and looks for the reward, “One time healing” That one was a given; he's healed, after all. He keeps reading another reward is “Qualification to be a player” He strokes his chin, wondering how he becomes a player. “System?” Nothing happens. He paces on, carrying on thinking. He stops and says, “Register?” another tab pops up “Registered as a player” he smiles and is greeted with another tab, “System Access: Granted” He closes that one and looks at the quest reward again. “Passive skill?” The last reward is a passive skill: poison negation he hopes that won't be useful, but then his stomach rumbles, and he turns to the goblin. “Ah I hate my life.” He approaches the goblin to dissect and eat it.
Nathan sits by the fire he set and watches the goblin meat cook on it. He’s repulsed by the thought of eating the goblin meat, but it’s that or starve. Nathan is poking and turning the meat to make sure it cooks fully when he realises, “I haven’t checked my status window!” It pops up

Nathan smiles, “It really is just like a game!” He laughs as he looks through his stats. “Two hidden stats? And they unlock at a certain level perfect.” He continues looking at them. “MP huh looks like it correlates to Intelligence.” He pokes the goblin meat, turning it, and continues to think about the MP: “MP that’d mean Magic Power but I don’t feel like I have magic.” He closes his Status Window and takes his food off the fire, deciding to think about MP again later. He eats the repulsive meat, even though it’s a struggle to keep it down. He finishes and sighs, putting out his fire and climbing the tree to sleep in it safely.
Nathan’s eyes shot open to the sound of snarls. He looked down and saw a goblin, smelling the goblin corpse and the put-out fire. Nathan gets the stone knife he carved himself to cut up the goblin, ready and as soon as the goblin turns away, he leaps from the tree, stabbing through the goblins head and killing it instantly. He pulls his knife from the head of goblin and hears footsteps. He turns just in time to block a slash from another goblin, but it knocks his knife away, so he has to push forward with his hands as he grabs the goblin by the throat and squeezes the life out of it as it claws at his arms, ripping them up and splatting its own blood and Nathan’s blood everywhere. But Nathan doesn’t stop; he keeps squeezing until the last drop of life leaves the goblins eyes. Nathan stands up, letting go of the goblin. He grabs leaves and wraps them around his wounds on his arms like bandages, determined to survive this.
The same routine persists for the next 5 days, with Nathan waking up, battling nearby goblins, and eating them again and again until eighth day in the forest. On the eighth day when Nathan attempts to sit up after waking up, he feels an incredible thirst for water. He realises he hasn’t had any water in a few days. He drops from the tree, killing the nearby goblins before setting off toward the river for a drink. Nathan carefully approaches the river and sees a goblin. He slowly pulls out his stone knife, approaching the goblin and stabbing it through the heart before it can react. He throws the he drinks from the river to quench his thirst and he stands up relieved of his thirst and notices a system tab. “Oh I levelled up.” He smiles and says, “Status Window” It pops up, and Nathan notices his five unallocated stat points. “So each level will give me five stat points then?” He puts two into Strength, Two into Agility, and one into Sense, and closes his Status Window. As soon as he closes it he feels his body change; he becomes slightly less skinny and feels stronger, and immediately he runs towards his sleeping tree and climbs it. “I sense something strange.” He looks in the direction he can sense trouble and sees a village on fire and three humans attacking goblins inside of it.
Nathan sits atop the tree watching the humans devastate the goblin village, and he wonders whether he should try and contact the humans. As he contemplates his decision, a tab pops up. It’s a quest to kill five goblins, and the reward is a Language Mastery skill. He descends the tree and pulls out his knife. “Right then time to kill some goblins and meet some people.” Nathan cracks his knuckles and neck and rushes towards the goblin village. Nathan arrives just in time to catch some running goblins. Nathan rushes at them. He shoves his knife through the heart of one, and as he’s pulling his knife out, another tries to slash him, but he slips the attack and stabs the goblin through its throat. The third goblin manages to knock Nathan’s knife away, so he grabs it by the head and smashes its head into the ground, caving it in and leaving its brain matter splatted on the ground. The last two goblins approach Nathan on they’re own and are quickly dispatched, completing Nathan’s quest and granting him the Language Mastery skill. With that, he puts away his knife and waits for the goblins screams of terror to end. Once they do, he walks into the village and approaches a young man with spiky red hair. He uses his Language Mastery skill to learn the human language of the world, and he hears the red haired man say, “You name and reason for being here now!”
Nathan frowned. “Nathan Howard and I uh appeared here just over a week ago.” Nathan laughed, but the red-haired man did not look pleased at all. The red-haired man stared at Nathan for a while but eventually cracked a smile and asked, “You appeared?” Nathan nods, and the red-haired man laughs at him. Nathan, annoyed, asks, “What’s so funny?” And the red-haired man smirks and says, “You expect me to believe you’re an Arcane Avatar? Funny joke, kid.” Nathan is displeased and says, “What’s an Arcane Avatar?” But rather than answering, the red-haired man hits Nathan in the head with the back of his spear, knocking Nathan out cold.
Nathan opens his eyes and is greeted by the sight of the red-haired man pointing his spear at Nathan’s face. Nathan turns to his left and right and sees the two women who were with the red-haired man, pointing their knives at his throat. Nathan smiles nervously and says, “If your gonna kill me can I at least get your names?” The red-haired man scoffed, “You aren’t nearly important enough to know us.” Nathan was about to say something else but felt all three weapons get closer and decided to sit in silence. He looked around and realised they were in a carriage, which made it obvious this world was less advanced than his. He waited patiently until they arrived, and he was dragged into a palace by the red-haired man and then dragged into a throne room and thrown in front of an old man. Nathan looked up at the old man, who glared at him, before turning to the red-haired man with a smile and saying, “Edward my son welcome back.” Edward and the women with him bowed too the old man, and Edward said, “We greet the king.”
The King looks at Nathan and says, “Edward who is this?” Edward stands up straight from his bow and says, “This boy claims to be an Arcane Avatar.” The King looks over Nathan before asking, “Could you please tell me why you believe yourself to be an Arcane Avatar?” Nathan sighs. “Can you please tell me what an Arcane Avatar is?” The king looks at Edward, who shrugs, and he turns back to Nathan. “An Arcane Avatar is a human who comes here from another world called Earth; they’re usually summoned, but some appear on their own.” Nathan smiles at a familiar name: “Earth that’s where I’m from.” The King stays silent for a while, his eyes never leaving Nathan, and eventually he summons a guard. “Take this boy to Kazuto’s room; he’ll undergo a test to make sure he’s really an Arcane Avatar and not a fraud.” Nathan stands up and stretches. He smirks at Edward as he follows the guard out of the throne room. Nathan follows the guard until they arrive at a door. The guard opens it and pushes Nathan into the room, closing the door behind him without a word. Nathan stands up wiping the dust off of his clothes, and he is greeted by a hand held out to him: “Hi I’m Kazuto Kurihara.” Nathan shakes his hand “Nathan Howard.”
