chapter 4: Was not supposed to happen like that

After thinking for a while Satvik said, "I don't have anyone dear to me who'll miss me when I'm gone and as for acquaintances, there's only my neighbor and my landlord. I can just tell them that I'm shifting to some other City as I couldn't establish clientele for my legal profession."

Pinaki nodded with a gentle smile and snapped his fingers again.

Satvik found himself back in same position he was before being teleported to the peak. He looked around several time only to realize the time had actually stopped as people around him were also at the same spot resuming with the same task.

Satvik let go of the door handle of the courtroom and made his way back to his one room flat. He looked around his room, browsed through his parents picture albums one last time reminiscing.

Around dusk he left his flat, but not before creeping out his milf neighbor by staring for full five minutes without saying a single word. After nodding to himself, then praising the Gods for the site before his eyes, Satvik went to his favorite restaurant to enjoy what would be his the last meal in this world.

He ordered most expensive dishes till his whole savings went to absolute zero. If anyone would've told him before today, that he would be spending his entire 6-digit savings on a single meal he simply would've just laughed it off.

While he was enjoying his evening walk with a grin due to the satisfaction of having an expensive meal once without thinking about his savings. He passed by many known acquaintances of his and greeted them with a million dollar smile. They were surprised to see him grinning from ear to ear, some even approached him to make sure everything was fine.

Satvik always had tired expressions and gloomy atmosphere around him. Hence, many thought that person has finally broken due to mental stress and could only shake their heads with pity.

After a while, came the night and the darkness descended upon the world. Satvik was walking on dimly lit streets.

Suddenly he saw an over speeding truck coming towards him. His eyes widened in astonishment and he thought to himself, 'my time has finally come.'

It was 'the truck kun'. When he saw the special agent of Isekai himself he had mixed thoughts. He was happy that he will be isekaied by the OG himself but he was a little afraid that it's going to be painful as well.

At least he wanted to have a painless death. No person on earth was not afraid of death and especially a painful one.

With these thoughts in the back of his mind, Satvik spread his arms wide to welcome the embrace of death. But, when the truck was only few feet away from Satvik it stopped.

Satvik was surprised and his surprise was replaced by panic when the driver of the truck came out.

"Hello Mr. Satvik, how was your day so far?" asked the driver.

Satvik just stood there in daze without moving an inch.

"Do you remember me or have you already forgotten?" asked the driver while pulling out a knife and moving his finger across it's blade.

Satvik gulped. How could he forget the face of his client. He had prepared so hard to get him bailed out of jail today. But after meeting the Gods he had actually forgot about this man.

"Mr. Rakesh it seems you've been granted bail without my help. Congratulations!" said Satvik while taking few steps back.

"Pffft! of course I'm not out on bail. You see the thing is my lawyer never came to court today for some reason. I just thought that I would go out for an evening drive before spending my life in prison. But, who would have thought destiny would bring you here." said the driver with sinister a smile.

Satvik then heard police Siren and by now he came to the ultimate conclusion that they were chasing after his client for running away from police custody. After few moments he could see few police vehicles coming in their direction.

Satvik while moving away from the driver said while sweating, "ummm, that's great! enjoy your drive."

"he he he you would already know this but let me ask you, what difference it would make towards my punishment if I had committed two murder instead of one?" asked the driver while moving towards Satvik while clenching the knife in his right hand.

"It would make a lot of difference, but it doesn't matter to you, does it" Satvik thought to himself as he started running away.

Rakesh chased after him swinging the knife while laughing like a maniac.

"Have you completely lost your mind or something? If you'll kill me you'll definitely get the death sentence" shouted Satvik while running with everything he had.

"Don't worry Mr. Counsel. We'll meet in hell and then we can talk about merits and demerits" said Rakesh

Satvik tripped and fell on his face. 'Damn' he thought to himself. Now there's definitely some stabbing action to follow and that to not by a yandere.

And just as he thought, Rakesh stabbed his thigh first and then started stabbing him multiple times on his back with a final stab to his neck, Satvik's soul departed from the world he lived for 25 years just with a single thought in his mind that, 'it was not supposed to happen like that.'

---------------

Satvik's soul appeared before Dharamraj. He was the deity who had been maintaining the records of all the sins and virtues one had committed during their lives.

Satvik looked at the deity who was laughing with no regards of his position as a divine being.

The deity after laughing as if it as the most hilarious moments in recent times , finally looked at Satvik with a naughty smile of child who had just pranked someone and said, "well-well if it isn't the mighty Mr. A-Pot-Star."

Even the workers assisting Dharamraj started laughing without holding back.

Satvik looked at them with a poker face and said to Dharamraj, "it was your doing wasn't it?"

"Well you aren't wrong. Although, who in their right mind would stand in middle of road while spreading their arms towards an over speeding truck?" questioned Dharamraj.

"I thought that it was my ride to another world like in those anime and manga. Who on Earth could've guessed a psychopath would be coming out to reap my soul" said Satvik while fuming at the deity.

"Calm down child, your death was the consequence of your karma. Have you forgotten what you were told by Gauri, 'karma never goes unrewarded' and in your case bad karma doesn't go unpunished." said Dharamraj.

"Might be due to your luck or good karma that you were chosen as the apostle, otherwise the bad karma you've accumulated for saving criminals by being 'advocate to the devil,' I would say quite frankly you, got away with it pretty easily."

Satvik ignored his gaze and looked towards the other way, pretending as if he never heard what the god was saying.

Dharamraj looked in the documents placed before him for a minute and then replied, "your records are now cleared for rebirth. Although any other soul would have to go through the procedure of removing their memories, you don't have to go through it. Go through that portal child you'll meet your benefactors there."
