On December 24, 2019, Hilton Garden Inn Manhattan East, New York.
"Squeak, squeak..."
Through a hellish-like hallway, you''ll find that this sound is coming from the room around the corner.
In the room, a naked blonde beauty was lying on the belly of the man, enjoying a feast that belonged only to "them", scarlet blood and bits and pieces of internal organs, dotted with a white mattress.
As if she was full, the woman stopped chewing and came to the window in a twisted and strange posture, her pale and cloudy eyes looked dull at the chaotic city outside the window, and let out a hoarse low roar...
A few minutes later...
The man lying in the bed suddenly opened his eyes, clutching his abdomen and let out sounds of pain.
"WTF! What just happened?"
The blonde woman by the window abruptly turned her head, slightly hunched over, and emitted a low, guttural growl toward Karl before pouncing towards him with lightning speed.
Karl looked at the blonde woman in a state of panic. From her terrifying countenance, he could vaguely discern that she was his girlfriend, Flora, a fiery Latin girl. Just an hour ago, they had been making love on this bed until she started going berserk...
"Shit!" Karl grit his teeth, enduring the excruciating pain in his abdomen as he crawled out of bed, narrowly dodging Flora''s attack. Flora lunged and missed, tumbling onto the bed. She clutched Karl''s calf and bit down viciously.
"Ahh, ahh, ahh!"
Karl''s voice was filled with pain and fear. In self-defense, Karl grabbed the table lamp on the bedside table, exerting all his strength, and swung it at Flora''s head.
"Go to hell, Bitch!"
Flora''s head exploded like a watermelon, with various disgusting brain tissues scattering everywhere.
At that moment, Karl didn''t notice a purple glass sphere, something that didn''t belong in human brain tissue, lying silently in Flora''s brain matter...
After killing Flora, Karl used trembling hands to wipe the filth from his face. He could hardly believe he possessed such incredible power. And as for Flora, her appearance was eerily reminiscent of a zombie straight out of a movie!

But upon careful consideration, if Flora were indeed a zombie, why was he still alive? Or, better yet, why hadn''t he turned into one?
Numerous thoughts intertwined in his mind, leaving Karl increasingly agitated.
"Ahh, ahh!"
Waves of excruciating pain radiated from his abdominal wound. Karl, wearing an expression of torment, clutched his stomach and leaned back against the bedpost, trying to make himself as comfortable as possible.
Although the screams from outside were incessant, Karl no longer had the energy to pay them any mind. He was utterly drained and in need of some rest.
As Karl''s consciousness gradually began to drift away, fragments of memories continued to flash through his mind...
"Darling, have you heard? The news reports that tonight will bring the largest meteor shower in history to Earth, and these ''gifts'' from outer space will bestow blessings on Christmas Eve for the United States."
"No, on this Christmas Eve, you''re the best gift."
"Hey, Flora, something seems off with you..."
"FuckAhh!!! Are you insane?"
............................
"Christmas Eve" has passed, and now it''s... Christmas Day.
It''s already 9:00 in the morning, but the streets are eerily quiet.
Karl, who had been awake for a while, looked at his girlfriend''s lifeless body with vacant eyes and sighed, "So, I wasn''t dreaming, was I?"
"Ugh."
Karl retched but couldn''t bring anything up because when he woke up, he had already thrown up everything he could.
Clearly, he needed to get used to this.
After calming down, Karl climbed out of bed.
"Huh?"
Karl was surprised to find that he had been seriously injured yesterday - his abdomen, shoulder, calf... How come he felt as if he had never been injured?
"What happened to my body? Am I a zombie now? Or am I still human?"
Puzzled, Karl walked to the window, and then he froze.
"Is this... New York?"
On the streets, vehicles were haphazardly parked, bloodstains covered the ground, and various unidentifiable human tissues were strewn about. Of course, there were no normal people left on the streets, only Flora''s kind - zombies.
"Huff, huff, huff."
Karl''s breathing grew rapid, his eyes filled with fear. Oh my God! What on earth had happened to this world?
Resident Evil? Or Left 4 Dead?
"Wait, my parents!"
Karl found his iPhone 14 and searched for his dad''s number in his contacts. He needed to confirm the safety of his family.
"Doo... sorry..."
"Fuck!"
Annoyed, Karl threw the phone against the wall. His brand-new iPhone, purchased not long ago, instantly shattered into electronic garbage.
However, this commotion seemed to be drawing more attention. The zombie hotel guests in the hallway gradually gathered at the corner of the corridor, banging on and shoving room doors while emitting spine-chilling, guttural roars.
Hearing the commotion outside his door, Karl immediately became alert, gripping his makeshift weapon, the table lamp, and cautiously approaching the door.
"Shit!"
As expected, the hallway outside was packed with zombies. It wouldn''t be long before they broke through the door.
What a crappy Christmas Eve!
Karl quickly abandoned the idea of breaking through the main door. There was no way he could take on so many zombies by himself.
"Calm down, Karl. Stay calm..."
Suppressing the jumble of emotions inside, Karl paced around the room, pondering how to escape the encirclement of zombies.
Soon, Karl had a plan. He decided to block the room door temporarily to hold off the horde of zombies, and then figure out a way to leave the hotel. The place was too confined, and being surrounded by zombies was not a pleasant thought.
Additionally, Karl needed to find a way to fill his stomach. He was starving, and he had to eat something to replenish his energy!
Otherwise, he wouldn''t have the strength to escape!
Without further ado, Karl immediately moved the bedside table, which turned out to be much easier than he had expected, even with just one hand.
"Heh, have I become a zombie superman?" Karl muttered and then turned his gaze to the massive 4x3-meter bed on the side.
"Huff, huff! Come on!!"
Well, he couldn''t lift it, but pushing it was a lot easier. So, Karl promptly moved the bedside table, used the big bed to block the door, and piled other things behind the bed.
"Huff... Finally, it''s secure, for now..."
