chapter 1: apocalipse begins!
i was sitting in my last university lecture of the day, half dozing away listening to my mathematics lecture when it happened.
a blue screen suddenly appeared in front of me, and going by all the surprised exclamations around me i wasn't the only one this happened to.
congratulations, your planet has been selected for a fun little gamecalled apocalipse time!
the goal of this little experiment is to research the psychology and culture of living creatures.
after (00:05:00, 00:04:59 ...) 70% of you humans will turn in to mindless zombies that only want to eat the remaining survivors!
but for those that turn in to zombies, don't despair! you can evolve through eating the survivors, or if there are not enough survivors near you for a long time by eating other zombies.
through leveling up and evolving, you will slowly get back your memories. of course, by the time that happens you will be a completely different person. also, your zombie instincts and powers won't suddenly vanish so even if you had all your memories from the start you would already be a different person.
so just thank us, we are saving you the trouble of fighting your instinct to eat other humans all the way until your instincts take over because of hunger and you start to eat everything indiscriminately.
these zombies aren't really moving dead bodies. instead, after a human dies and gets up again as a zombie, the heart and brain are still functioning and are still weakspots.
of course, they are the only weakspots. any other injury won't keep them down for long and they will quickly heal from them.
you see how much information and help i am giving you? quickly, thank me, Karek sama for everything!
for the remaining survivors, you will get a class assigned to you that best fits your wishes and current needs.
superpowers! fun, right?
by leveling yourself and your skills up, you can get stronger infinitely.
5 days after the start of the game, characters and monsters from various games, anime, movies and all other types of human literature will appear randomly in the world to liven things up!
don't worry, only characters and monsters that fit your current power level or are a bit higher / lower will appear in front of you.
of course, if someone close to you fails to kill their encounter and gets killed, his or her monster / character doesn't vanish. so you might still encounter something waaay more powerful than you.
3 months after the start of the apocalipse, numerous gates to other worlds in the same situation as earth will open.
depending on earths situation relative to those worlds, you can invade them if your strong enough or conversely, earth will be invaded if the people can nolonger defend themselves.
this is the end of my explanation on the situation.
good luck! earth's situation will be broadcasted live in the melonian empire, so please try to entertain the masses!
we need something to distract them from the fact they have absolutely no power, after all.
oops, i have talked way to much again.
regards,
Karek Bloodsword
manager of hr at melon entertainment
'damn that manager! he talks way to much, i wasted 2 of my 5 minutes reading his bullshit. couldn't he have just summarised everything?'
luckely, i am sitting in a corner behind the door so i am in a relatively safe place.
let me first introduce myself. my name is William goldsen, 21 years old. my parents got in to a car accident when i was very little, and i have been an orphan ever since. currently, i am living in a small appartment close to the university.
i am sitting in the upper row of seats, on the right most one in the corner. behind me to the left is the upper door that leads out of the lecture hall.
to the right next to me are 9 seats, than a small break for stairs leading downwards. that continues for 2 more rows of seats. after the third row of seats is the left most wall of the lecture hall.
this arrangement continues for each step down the stairs, for a total of 10 steps.
10 tears of seats, with each having 3 rows of 10 seats. in total, this lecture whole can seat 300 students.
at the bottem is the teachers podium, and behind him is another door leading out of the lecture hall.
but that one is only for emergencies, so it is closed most of the time.
all around me, people were hotly discussing the situation.
'this must be a practical joke played by someone.' from a guy further down the row from me.
quick, call the police! everyone is hallusinating!' from a girl in the row infront of me
'damn, so many idiots make it in to university. why do smart people also tend to lose their shit when they are confranted with something they don't understand?'
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
of course, i was also surprised by this situation. however, i have read so many books and watched so many animes detailing situations like this that i at least didn't lose my shit.
in short, i am a very big nerd.
i saw a timer in the left corner of my vision going down from 3 min.
the teacher tried to get everyone quiet so he could make sense of the situation, but no one was listening.
people just continued to discuss the current situation curiously in loud voices
of course, there were exceptions.
a boy 2 rows to the left of me was just quietly sitting there, looking forwards.
a girl one row down and to the left from me seemed to be reading the message over and over, probably committing everything to memory.
another boy 2 rows down in front of me also seemed very calm, discussing what to do as soon as the 5 min mark past with a girl next to him.
there were a few more people like that. not the minority, but i would guess around 50 out of the 300 seemed very calm.
after the 3 and a half min mark passed, another blue screen appeared infront of me.
calculating class and attributes...
congratulations, you have gotten the class, beginner apocalipse tamer lvl. 1.
apocalipse tamer:
an apocalipse tamer doesn't have any fighting power of their own. instead, they can tame the monsters in the world around them.
when an apocalipse tamer tames a monster, any injuries they have get healed instantly. this also happens when a monster under an apocalipse tamer levels up.
your own level is set at level 1, and can't increase to make this class not as broken as it already is.
your class level can increase though. for more details on the difference, please click on the different tabs in your status window later.
you can assign any stat points your tamed monsters get or give them the right to decide where to invest it, when their intelligence is enough for that. your monsters get most of their points automatically assigned depending on the monsters rank and type, but you get 2 free stat points every 10 levels.
every 10 levels, your tamed monsters can evolve. again same as the stat points, you can pick from the available evolutions or give your monster the option to pick what they wish to become.
as a help for surviving the first few min of the apocalipse, your first attempted taming will have a 100% succes rate.
your status window has been created. please say or think 'status' to open the window and see your attributes and skills.

'i love this class! this has the potential to become very op later on. though, i need to be very careful for now. plus, i have never done any martial arts nor worked out much so i wouldn't be any good at any kind of warrior job. the only thing i might have been able to work with besides this is some kind of mage job.'
i quickly looked at the timer in the left corner of my vision.
00:04:30
'only 30 sec left. i need to quickly pick candidates for my first zombie! hmm, how to do this...'
'i got it! i will only pick girls as my followers. the zombies will regain their memories slowly, and since male zombies probably won't be any stronger than female zombies who wouldn't want to be surrounded by beauties later on?'
'that gets rid of a lot of options. now, let's look for fit girls next. it is best if they look like they have done martial arts before. that will be a lot of help as they start to regain memories.'
i looked around me. the seats were all packed, and there were a lot of people. there was no telling at all who would become a zombie.
'well, let's just keep a good eye out and pick one as soon as the timer runs out. at worst, i will pick a girl at random. later, i will have the leway to pick based on strength or looks.'
i looked at the timer again:
00:04: 45
15 sec left. looking around me again, i saw everyone crouding towards the doors and trying to leave. of course, the doors seemed to be impossible to open before the timer ticked down to zero.
i stayed calmly in my seat. as i was in the corner, that seemed to be the best place for now. easier to defend for a zombie, with only two ways to approach.
it had to be either to the left of me, or climbing up from the row infront of me. much easier to defend for a zombie.
the timer continued to tick down.
