Chapter 6

Essalon Continent, Western Region -- Chapter 6

"Brothers, let us all congratulate little fifth for having successfully leveled his

adventurer rank from rank D to C. Tonight we will celebrate so eat and drink all

you want, my treat, hahaha."

"Ohhhhh, little fifth, congratulations."

"Congratulations little fifth."

"Congratulations little fifth. Big brother order up already, I'm hungry."

"Thank you big brothers."

 .......

"Ahhh, man I'm tired. Damn those little punks. Kids these days just don't listen to

us old men anymore. We patiently try to train them but they think they already

know everything."

"Ohoho, teaching them must be though."

"Teaching them? You can't even call it that. What's the f*cking point of sending

those bastards to the training grounds in the guild if they won't even listen to what

I say. Stinking rich brats. Boss Martel, another glass of ale please."

....

Deep in the night inside the Garm Inn that doubles as a restaurant and tavern,

regular customers, adventurers, from far away travellers and merchants enjoyed

their meals and drinks.

Some groups were in a festive mood, some just ate and drink quietly while other

groups, mainly the locals, were already pointing at each other, arguing at whom

among them were the best at their professions.

Watching all this, you could say that the place had a friendly atmosphere.

Suddenly out of nowhere, a loud bang from a table being toppled down was

heard and a loud shout of someone experiencing excruciating pain followed.

"Ack!"

Hearing the shout that sounded like a pig being slaughtered, the people in the

dining area all quieted down. The owner of the Inn, Martel Garm, looked at his

wife and said.

"Looks like his awake, I'll go and take a look."

Margaret, Martels wife nodded at him and went back to what she was doing.

After some time of silence, the people around also resumed to what they were

doing and the dining area was filled with voices again.

Opening the door, Martel saw a young man lying on the floor curled like a prawn

while hugging his head, twitching. Not far from him, the table beside the bed was

completely destroyed.

"What the hell? Is this kids head made out of steel?"

Muttering to himself, Martel approached the prawn-like kid lying on the floor who

narturally, was Arren himself.

"Little brother come on, get back to bed if you're still not fine. Did you hit your

head on that table? Damn, must have hurt bad if you destroyed it with your head."

While saying that, Martel bent down to help Arren get up. Hearing someone calling

to him, Arren turned his head and looked up. Grabbing the hand trying to help him

up, with an intense throbbing head, Arren asked weakly.

"Thank you big brother. Where is this? How did I get here? How long was I

sleeping?"

Getting Arren back in bed, Martel answered him in a slow manner after hearing

his weak voice.

"My name is Martel Garm and I own the Garm Inn where we are now. My daughter

saw you lying outside at the back of the Inn very early in the morning when she

and my wife were going to the market, so we helped you out. And as for how long

you were sleeping, hmm, I think its 3 days already."

Hearing him, Arren sat himself up and bowed.

"My name is Arren Cyne, thank you big brother. I will not forget your families

kindness."

"Alright alright, just rest well. I'll ask my daughter to send something for you to

eat in a while."

After saying that, Martel went out and slowly closed the door. Seeing that he was

all alone, Arren lied back down and covered his eyes with one hand, still feeling

the throbbing in his head. Lying down he asked Sys what was going on.

"Hey Sys, what happened? Why is my head hurting so much? Why am I so

weak?"

[Apologies to the host. A miscalculation was made during teleportation which

resulted to the hosts current condition.]

Arren wanted to rage so much after hearing that a problem occured but could not

becuase his head ached too much and felt very weak all over. Even thinking only

a little about raging already made his head want to explode, so he asked weakly

again.

"Miscalculation? What miscalculation?"

[Teleportation at a very long distance required one to have a strong mind and

soul and the System miscalculated hosts current strength on both. Because of

that, the teleportation was abruptly stopped before any damage to the host was

done. Compensation had already been given to the host, please check it later.]

Arren wanted to flip out but could not because he was hit again by an intense

pain. Instead of blowing up, he pondered for a while trying to remember

something. After awhile, he remembered and asked Sys.

"Sys, I recalled reading it somewhere that you need a high enough cultivation

level to resist long distance teleportation and not the mind and soul that you

were talking about. Are they diffenrent?"

[It is different host. What your people use is a gate to create a rift in space for

them to travel long distances that takes hours, days, weeks, months, or years,

depending on the distance. It put stress on almost nothing. While the Systems

teleportation creates a tear in both time and space allowing host to travel long

distances in an instant, or a few seconds at most. Therefore, host needed a

strong mind, body and soul.]

"Oh, no wonder."

Arren stopped asking as he felt very weak. Checking the status, he saw mind

and soul exhaustion in his condition. Since he could do nothing, he decided to

sleep.

Just after closing his eyes, the door was knocked softly by someone and opened.

Opening his eyes, Arren saw a girl around the age of 17-18 entering, carrying a

tray with a steaming bowl and a glass of water on it.

Seeing Arren looking at her, she lowered her head down and shyly went to the

side to place the tray down that she was carrying on the bed.

"I'm Anria, big brother here's your meal."

After introducing herself, Anria turned around to leave. But before she could take

a step outside, she heard a weak voice calling to her.

"Wait Anria, thank you very much for helping me."

Anria turned around and with a smile on her lips, she nodded at him then turned

around again and left. Looking at the tray at the side, he pulled it closer to him

and removed the cover from the bowl. Instantly, more steam spread out of it

filling the entire room with its delicious smell.

Although it smells good, Arren was not affected as he was already eating food

sold in the system store which were way way more delicious. With his current

points, he would be able to buy as much as he wanted.

Grabbing the spoon, Arren scooped a spoonful of vegetable soup and slowly

moved it into his mouth. After tasting it, Arren nodded his head and said.

"Good soup. Must be big brothers wife who cooked it."

Arren scooped another wanting to finish it and to show his respect to the one

who made it for him. Meanwhile out side the room, Anria walked away with a

humph, mad at him for mistaking the soup made by her mother instead of

herself.

And so, the uneventful night passed slowly and a new morning came.

Arren who just woke up felt refreshed. The throbbing pain inside his head from

last night completely vanished. Of course he got well quickly not from the rest

but from the things he consumed to heal himself.

Mind and spirit enhancement potion, ten of each given to him as a compensation.

One doubled the strength of his mind, while the other one doubled the strength of

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

his soul permanently and. Add the food and drinks he bought last night, there was

no way he would not recover quickly.

After getting up, he stretched his body for a while and then changed into a new

set of clothes. Then bought a storage ring with a space of 1,000 cubic meters

that could also turn invisible if the symbols around it were aligned correctly for

1,000 Item Points. Although it costed him 10x more than a regular one, he could

now have an alibi if anyone asks where he got the things from, that would pop

up out of nowhere, or the clothes he now wore.

Arren walked towards the door and reached out for the door knob, but before he

could do so, it was opened by someone from the other side. Seeing Arren already

fine and dressed well, Martel looked at him up and down, he then wistled and said.

"Are you well already kid? Damn kid, you look freakin good. Where did you get

those clothes from? Don't tell me that you sneaked around early in the morning and

stole from others staying here. You better give it back or you'll get your ass kicked."

Martel teased Arren while poking at Arrens shoulder. Having been prepared for

something like this, Arren raised his hand in front of Martel to show him the ring

and said truthfully.

"Oh this, I got it from my storage ring, watch. See? Cool right, it could turn

invisi..."

But before he could finish what he wanted to say, Martel smacked him hard on

the head.

"Ack, what was that for?"

Of course Arren was not hurt from that strike but he bit his tongue after getting hit.

Pushing Arren inside the room, Martel looked left and right outside then closed the

door behind him. With a pissed look, Martel reprimanded in a low voice that only

both of them could hear.

"Have you gone mad? What if others saw it? Did you think no one would try and

rob you kid? F*ck, that's a treasure right there on your f*cking finger! Even the

king would drool seeing it. Come on, if you have something like that, you should

have the normal ones. Go on, wear one of those you dumb shit head."

Smacking Arren again on the head, Martel walked towards the door.

"You better keep that invisible one a secret or else an entire kingdom will hunt

you for it. An empire would definitely as well."

After saying that, he went out and closed the door behind him. Arren who just

stood there felt warm inside as he was able to meet a good person like Martel.

Just like what he had said, if others would know about the ring, people would

definitely hunt him down for it.

With that thought, Arren kept the invisible storage ring and bought a regular

1,000 cubic meter one. Going out of the room and closing the door, he looked

towards the source of the noise and saw people eating and chatting with each

other.

Walking towards that area, he avoided other people going out of the other rooms

and made his way in front of the counter.

The people he avoided and the ones that were eating and chatting in the dining

area silenced when they saw him as if they all had an agreement earlier to quiet

down when seeing him.

But that was of course not the case. They were all shocked as Arren was very

handsome. Not only that, they could see that he was well trained just by looking

at his manly physique outlined by the clothes he wore. Whats more, he's very

tall.

Sitting on a vacant chair in front of the counter, he nodded to Martel who nodded

at him back. Looking at the many food and drinks names written in front, he

browsed trying to see if there were any food or drinks he knew.

The old adventurer guild trainer from last night could not help it anymore, stood up

and approach Arren. Feeling his muscles here and there, he praised loudly in front

of everyone else not even embarrassed the slightest.

"Incredible, just incredible. All well toned muscles, strong yet flexible, hard yet soft

at the same time. The body proportions is just too perfect, too perfect. Kid, how

did you train? No wait, who trained you? Can I meet him?"

Everyone around including Arrens face twitched. This old man was too shameless.

He really felt Arren all over like he was not touching someone else. Seeing the face

of the kid in front of him twitch and feeling the awkward atmosphere, he scratched

his head and laughed awkwardly.

"Ahahaha, my name is Feran, an old trainer from the adventurer guild. Please do

visit me so we could talk about training later today or some other time when you

are free. If you like, join the adventurer guild as well. Well kid, excuse me."

After saying that, he went back to his table where another old guy presumably his

friend from last night as well, looked away like saying he did not know the old man

who sat in the same table with him.

Seeing the old man gone, it was time for the ladies to go to war for who will take

the two vacant seat. Like lionesses on heat, they pounced at once and those in

lioness in front of them that were nearing the seat were dragged back by others.

Seeing the place getting chaotic, Martel glared at Arren who had a stiff smile.

Then out of nowhere, his daughter came in front and declared loudly.

"Those who are not here to eat, go back to your rooms or go somewhere else,

or else I will report all of you for disturbing the peace."

After saying that, she looked at Arren and humphed walking back into the kitchen.

The lionesses quieted down and went back to their respected groups as well.

Since they could not pounce at him, they all stared at Arren like hungry beasts,

not wanting to take their eyes off of him.

Watching the back of his daughter leaving, Martel pounced at Arren, wrapped his

big arms around Arrens head and shook him back and forth asking what happened.

"Why is she mad tell me? Did you do something last night? You did, didn't you?"

Arren pretended to have a hard time, tapped his arms asking to loosen it. After it

was loosened, he said in a aggrieved manner.

"What do you mean I did something? I only thanked her for helping me after she

found me outside. Did you really have to choke me so hard?"

"Then why is she mad?"

"How should I know. Ask her."

Since they would not know what was wrong if they won't ask Anria, Martel then

released Arren from his bound and asked.

"So, what do you want to order?"

"To tell you the truth big brother, I don't even know any of the dishes on the board

so recommend me something."

Martel stared at him for a while, then said.

"Alright I'll ask my wife what shes cooking. I'll get my wife as well so the both of

you could meet."

After seeing Arren nod, Martel went into the kitchen. With Martel gone, Arren felt

chills from the many gazes especially the ones from the lionesses.

Knowing that he might be pounced by someone at any time, Arren asked a guy

a seat away from him about how the food and drinks here tastes. Of course he

offered to treat the guy which happily complied and chatted with him.

After some time of waiting, Martel returned together with a beautiful woman.

Seeing the both of them, Arren stood up and bowed at her saying.

"My name is Arren Cyne big sister. Thank you very much for helping me."

Seeing Arrens attitude, Margaret smiled and warmly greeted him.

"My name is Margaret, so you're marrying my daughter right? We did save you,

you know."

After she said that, loud clatters could be heard from the kitchen and an angry

Anria came out shouting.

"Mother, please behave yourself and don't talk nonsense."

Margaret who was already sitting beside Arren looked at her daughter and said

teasingly.

"Talk nonsense? What nonsense? Didn't you cook for him last night? And this

also? Little girl, come here and sit beside him, come, don't be shy."

"Mother!"

With a deep red face, Anria bolted back to the kitchen and another round of loud

clattering sound was heard. Arren who was at the side could only smile stiffly.

Removing the cover from the bowl, the delicious aroma from the vegetable soup

spread out.

"Vegetable soup?"

"Oh, you don't like it? The soup you ate last night was made by Anria and this

one as well. She thought that you were still not well enough to eat other meal

so she prepared another soup for you. If you don't want it, I'll go back and get

something else."

After saying that, Martel reached out to take the tray but before he could take it,

Arren blocked him and said.

"It's fine, the soup last night was good so this should taste good as well."

Grabbing the spoon, Arren scooped the soup and ate it. From a very tiny gap,

Anria watched Arren as he ate all the soup she made. Seeing him finish all of it

and hearing him praising her skills, a smile hung on her lips and she hopped

back to what she was doing.

After cleaning the entire bowl, Arren did not ask for another meal as his taste buds

were already used to the taste of food from the system. Although the soup Anria

cooked for him tasted good, it was still not enough to compare with the food from

the system that could be said as made from heaven.

"Big brother, how much should I pay?"

"3 days and 3 nights plus the soup, 10,000 zirin."

"Oh, alright."

Looking at Arren who did not even asked why it reached that amount, Martel

could not help but raise an eyebrow and ask.

"You're not gonna ask why you need to pay that much?"

"No need."

Arren reached into his pocket and while doing that, he asked Sys to exchange 1

Item Point for 1,000,000 zirin and put 10,000 on his left pocket. Grabbing the

money, Arren took it out and counted, then he gave it to Martel.

"Please check if its the right amount."

"It's alright, you counted it already."

While saying that, he opened a drawer and put the money inside. Margaret on

the side, had a questioning look on her face a she stared at her husband who

just nodded at her. Understanding that it might not be good to talk about it here

with people around, she nodded back and looked at Arren again.

While they were having a good conversation, someone shouted out of nowhere.

"You there! Get the f*ck away from my mother and father!"

Everyone inside turned around to look at who shouted. After seeing who it was,

all their faces except Arren could not help but stiff.
