20. Brotherly Dispute

Lucifer was now not only lost in the sea of bookshelves, but in the tome he held too.

Well, good luck to him to find his way back, I guess…

Brotherly Dispute

Long ago, the King of Angels declared war upon the Demon Lord—a clash foretold in whispers of prophecy and dread alike. These two primordial entities had long demonstrated their unfathomable might, shaping the very world through acts of sheer, unrestrained power.

The Demon Lord, in a display of monstrous strength, once drove his fist against the ocean’s surface. The impact sent a shockwave through the abyss, splitting the waters and forcing the sea floor to yield beneath his wrath. The earth itself contorted, shifting and heaving until a fiery titan was born—Furros, a towering volcano that now looms at the heart of the Pacifistic Ocean. It reaches a staggering 6,031 meters into the heavens, yet even at such heights, it falls shy of piercing the clouds, as if recoiling from the sheer force that birthed it.

But the Angel King? His power was no less terrifying. Near the newborn volcano, he let fall a single feather—an object of divine simplicity, yet one teeming with immeasurable magic. It had fused with the very island it had landed on, changing the green leaves of the trees into pure, angelic white. And then, with hands that had sculpted the skies and cradled the storms, he did the impossible.

In his endless elegance, with fingers sinking into the very bedrock, he lifted the entire island from the embrace of the sea. He spun it onto his finger for a moment, showing off to his twin, demonic, brother. Then, with a mere flick of his wrist, he hurled it skyward, a titanic mass of earth and stone meant to plummet back into the waves.

Yet… it never fell!

The land itself, bathed in the celestial energy radiating from the feather, underwent a profound transformation. It defied gravity, breaking free from the planet’s pull, and ascended into legend.

The first floating island—a realm suspended between the heavens and the mortal plane, a testament to the Angel King's divine supremacy.

One would simply fall to their knees from just imagining what a fight between these two titans would look like!

Best case scenario? Only half the world is reduced to ruin.

Worst? — Unimaginable. But when their fists first met, even neighboring planets would tremble.

These feats, however, were not without consequence. The world trembled beneath the weight of their power—but not in fear, no. It trembled in pain, disgust, and raw fury.

The earth itself recoiled, as though it could feel the violation and prepared to fight back, to reclaim what was rightfully its.

And push back it did.

It spat something out.

A calamity unlike any the cosmos had ever witnessed.

A human hero.

Born not of heaven nor hell, but from the very defiance of the earth itself.

A being whose existence was a declaration—an indomitable cry against the warring gods who fell prey against their temper.

The time had come for the divine to bow.

Lucifer stumbled through the cluttered room, his footsteps faltering as he weaved between chairs and tables, his gaze never leaving the book in his hands. He was lost in its pages, as if the world around him no longer existed. It took a solid minute, but eventually, he found his way to Kai.

"All right! About the dungeons—" he began, but his words were cut off by the sound of an excited voice.

"Man! You gotta read this! It's so epic!" Luke's voice was almost manic, but his eyes never shifted from the pages, glued to the story like it was the most precious thing in the world.

Kai sighed, his patience visibly thinning as he turned to Lucifer. “What'chu reading there, buddy?" His tone dripped with sarcasm, but Lucifer, oblivious, didn’t pick up on it.

"It's the coolest novel ever, man! Let me finish, and I'll lend it to you!" Lucifer replied, excitement coloring his voice.

Kai's sigh was louder this time, and he leaned back, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, can ya do me a favor, mate?"

"Huh? What?" Lucifer didn't even look up, too absorbed in the tale unfolding before him.

"Tell me the title of the novel, please?" Kai asked, his voice oozing exasperation, but his eyes fixated on the cover’s wild pictures—its text only raising their level of grandiose!

Lucifer, still blissfully unaware of Kai's sarcasm, carefully closed the tome, a slight frown of concentration on his face. "Yeah, sure. I actually skipped that part myself!"

With a dramatic flourish, he turned the book around, “Man! It has more than you think! Demons, Shadow Monster, Giant Star-Eating Worms, A Robot that went rogue, Angels! The stuff!”

He finally reached the cover. It’s golden title, simply read as:

"Historical Events"
