Who could have thought it would be this vast? Aarin mumbled himself as he approached to the Institute of Elemental Specialist where students from all over the world come to become a top notch Elementalist, in other words High Class Magicians who specializes in one or more than one Element and protects this world. As he came closer his joy knew no bound. He had to admit that the area owned by IES was not less than a big city. Surprisingly it was floating high up in the sky. It has several sections. If looked from higher altitude it would appear like a Pentacle with five bases at five points and a larger base in the middle of it which is the main Building of IES.
“Are you spacing out?”
Aarin was startled. It was a guy standing in front of him.
“Hey! I’m Dylan, a freshman. It seems you are one too”
“Yeah” – nodded Aarin.
Dylan said – “Let’s go register for our dorm then”
They both started walking.
As soon as they entered the dorm they were stunned by how spacious can a dorm be! From outside it was big enough. But when they came in, the space inside seem few times bigger. There were nine floors and around fifty rooms in each floor.
“What’s your name?” – said the skinny gramps in reception.
After registering gramps said “No using magic outside of classroom or arena unless you want to be grounded or suspended.” as he gave the keys.
Room no. 149. It was on second floor. Aarin and Dylan both got same room as they had lined up together. They went to look for the elevator but they were surprised when they found there were magical portal instead of Normal elevator.
It took quite a while to unpack and tidy up the room. The Sun was about to set.
“Let’s grab some snacks, it’s almost even…” – Dylan couldn’t finish his words. Someone was knocking at the door. It was the third years.
“Gather around the seventh assembly hall by the south fountain” - one of them said. They left to inform other dorm members.
A huge crowd has gathered there. The crowd was huge as all the students from freshman year were there along with some other students from second, third, fourth and fifth years.
“Everyone take a sit” – the tall slender man in his early forty’s started talking.
“I am Prof. Holland, General Adviser of IES. Welcome to Institute of Elemental Specialist. You all freshmen are prohibited from using magic outside classroom or arena. If you are found doing so you will be grounded for one week for the first time, two weeks for second time. You may get suspended from IES if you are caught third time. So think carefully before doing so. Now the most interesting part is that you have to decide which clan you want to join depending on the type of magic you harbor the most. Everyone is given one week time. Within this one week you have to join a clan. These young people beside me are the leaders of five clans. This is Ryle, the leader of the clan of Light or Fire Element, Nezbeth the leader of Water or Ice Element Clan, Sylfia from Air Element Clan , Trey from Earth Element Clan and Void the Leader of Void or Darkness Element Clan. Students, willing to join clans today gather at ‘Brink’ arena in one hour. Thank you for your patience. See you in school.”

“So, what clan you guys are going to join?”
Aarin and Dylan turned back. There was a girl with dark brown hair. Her Eyes were sparkling with joy.
“I am Liona, nice to meet you.”
“Hello! I’m Aarin. I’m going to join Darkness clan”
Dylan was still thinking.
“I’m thinking to join Light clan”- Liona said.
They started walking towards the arena. By the time they reached the arena it was evening already. The city looked so beautiful and so did the arena. They couldn’t believe their eyes. Some people were flying , some were showing magic skills, some were helping the freshmen to choose the right clan and there were lights everywhere . It looked magical indeed. The upperclassmen decorated so well to welcome the freshers. Prof. Holland kept shouting to choose one clan and gather around that clan’s representatives. Everyone was doing as directed. Suddenly the students noticed a huge bird was flying above. It came down slowly near the side where Light clan’s members were gathered. It was no bird but the leader Ryle himself. What beautiful wings. Pure white in color. Everyone was staring at him without blinking eyes. He was not human after all. Ryle was an Angel. The area of Void clan was a bit darker. However it was Dylan’s turn to register in Void Clan.
“Show me your skills” – Void said.
Dylan put his palms together and within a short while there were black smokes oozing from his fingertips which turned into black Flame in an instant.
Void : “You are accepted……….Next please.”
Aarin came forward and was asked to show skills. He closed his eyes. Soon dense black smokes with very dim purple aura came out of his whole body.
Void : “Do you have something else to show?”
But Aarin remained still. After a while Void was going to say something but one of his subordinate pulled his shirt and pointed finger above. There was a growing dark sphere with same black smoke and purple aura. Void was speechless. Everyone kept looking at that sphere. The moment Aarin opened his eyes all those smokes , aura and sphere disappeared. Void smirked.
Void : “Enjoy your stay.”
Dylan dragged Aarin and asked –
Dylan: “whoa… how could you do that?”
Aarin smiled without saying anything.
On returning dorm Aarin went to shower. Dylan thought about calling home. He switched on his mobile but there was no network at all. He switched it off and went to leave it on the table. It was glance but he turned back again. He saw something was peeking through a diary. It Belonged to Aarin. It was a slightly reddish paper . He hesitated at first but anyhow he picked it and started to read it.
“ Do not bother to remember your past or your family. You will know in time”
Dylan left the note in its place. Aarin came out soon. It was 9 pm already. Dinner time was almost over. But the cafeteria had organizes various foods to welcome newcomers. Dylan and Aarin took a sit in corner.
Dylan: “Aarin where are you from?”
Dylan was curious. Seeing Aarin hesitating he said –
Dylan : “ I’m sorry. I’ve seen the note in your diary. But I promise you don’t have to worry about anything. We are in same clan. I know we just met today but you can trust me.”
Aarin: “If you know then why are you asking me?”
Dylan: “ Look Aarin I’m just curious after seeing the notes. If you are having problem telling me then ….”
Aarin: “I don’t remember anything”
Saying this Aarin left. Dyaln looked upset. When he went back to room the lights were off. Aarin was in his bed.
Dylan: “ I’m sorry… Good Night.”
