For the first time in a while, i had a dream.
Well... It was more like a flashback than a dream.
It was the time when i was still a novice mercenary. Carrying around a big scythe that my mother gave to me, Living by paycheck to paycheck. The first time i saw a gun being used was when i was hired to do some dirty work by some company that was apparently pretty big, but i didn't check who they were, just the fact they were giving us a lot of money.
Back to the point. We had to guard a warehouse off in the outskirts of Tokyo which was... well, the middle of a forest with no roads to connect it to is a weird place to put a warehouse in, but nonetheless we had to make sure it didn't get destroyed by a third party.
What's weirder is that this place was getting constantly attacked by a few dudes every once in a while who wanted whatever was inside. We took care of them quickly of course, but there was this particular girl that came out of nowhere and caught us off guard, even with a revolver.
Normally, Guns were pretty useless in a battle, especially when you have augments that lets you react to bullets pretty easily. And yet even when i had that special augment, This girl was still shooting through my deflections and the other guy's, killing him and incapacitating me. But she didn't kill me. no, once she was done with us, she just went to the warehouse while spinning her revolver, grabbed a big box with one hand and just... left.
Once i recovered from that whole attack, I figured out who she was from words on the streets. An Unknown Mercenary that has been making a name for herself with only one weapon: The Revolver.
I Couldn't for the life of me figure out how she was able to efficiently use a gun, let alone shoot through a deflection. Nonetheless, This did kind of revive my interest in guns, so i bought a cheap revolver, and started incorporating it into my fighting style whenever i could. This did kinda degrade my perfomance for a bit, to the point where i almost lost my arm at one mission, but I managed to figure out how she does it.
It's in the same implant i mentioned earlier.
Once i figured it out, I was blasting guys left and right, With no one ever figuring out how i could even shoot through their defense.
Of course, when you don't have the implants since you're in a completely different body, you can't exactly do any of that, can you?
Speaking of which, i should really wake up.
----------------------------------------
That was easy.
Opening my eyes slowly, They were temporarily blinded by the sunlight hitting my eyes. but when they finally adjusted, I found myself in a bedroom, With my body lying on a pretty comfortable single bed, all things considered. In front of me was a window that was blinding my eyes. Beside me, A man pointing a staff at my wounds, Healing it with magic and closing them up pretty quickly.
"Wakey Wakey, Sunshine." The man spoke in a gruff and deep voice. "You've got a whole lot of questions to answer. But i need you to rest first. I heard you and that magician had a rough time down there. Healing magic might be able to recover your wounds, but it won't recover the fatigue."
On a closer inspection, The guy was pretty muscular. Yellow Eyes, Brown Long Hair that he tied to a ponytail, some stubble. He was wearing something you would see a warrior would wear. He's even got a sword and a shield as well, but he's using a staff. Well he is in his mid 30s, so maybe he switched jobs here and learned a few things.
In short, He's a hunk. Sorta my type, even if i was still a guy.
"I'll get the guild master here. I'll be back in a few moments." I just silently nod and laid still as the man stood up and walked away after fully healing me. While he does that, i'm gonna take the time to just... ruminate on things for a bit.
It's very clear that i don't have any augmentations, enhancements, or any of the sort. This body is pure, untainted. No technology inside of this new body. Nothing but hair, skin, meat and bones. It's gonna make life a bit harder than it's going to be, but there's still magic. There's still a chance that somebody like me can still learn how to do it. Though If a warrior-looking guy can learn it, then i'm pretty confident i can.

The alternative option is also finding out about how i can contact Him again. It's not the option that i want to do, but if there's nothing else, i'll just have to rely on him a bit more.
Eitherway, It looks like i don't have any further time to think, since two men arrive to the room. The same guy that healed me, and the supposed guildmaster himself.
The man himself looks like a veteran, with His hair starting to grey, and an eyepatch covering his supposed missing left eye. He also has a prosthetic left arm. The man sits down besides me as he began to talk.
"Let me start by welcoming you to the Adventurer's Guild myself. I am Guild Master Magnus. This man over here is William." The other guy just waves in silence. "Now. I'm sure Mister William over here has told you why you're here, so let's just jump in to the questioning." He then pulls out a paper and a pen filled with some kind of blue glowing ink. He's holding the pen with his left arm and he's kind of struggling on how to use it. Might just be that he just got the prosthetics, and he's getting used to moving it around. I've seen this kind of thing before, but i didn't expect it to be here. Maybe this world was more advanced than i thought?
He asks me the usual questions you would ask if you found somebody lost. Name, Age, Where i used to live. I'd figure i should make up a person here and now. I've done it before. It actually failed the last time it happened, though.
"Right. Name's... Uhhh..." Crap. I can't think up a good name. "I... can't exactly--"
"Remember?" Magnus interrupted, Smiling as he pats my head. "Don't worry, Girly. If you can't remember anything, then we'll just skip the first few questions then." He starts to write off some stuff on his paper.
That's it! I can pretend to be an amnesiac. I Don't know a whole lot about the world, and i don't even know the layout. Why didn't i think of this before?
"The last thing i remember was that i woke up at that place and Fighting my way out of there with a gal. How is she, by the way?"
"She's fine. You need not to worry. She's still recovering, but once she's done, She'll be out in the fields again in no time." William spoke this time instead of the guildmaster. He's still writing, but it seems like he's got some interest in what i said.
"Interesting. Waking up in the dungeon, you say?" He nods, then gets comfortable on his chair before asking me "No other memories prior to your awakening in the dungeon?"
"Not even my birth, mister. Every single memory in this little head of mine is nowhere to be seen." The first part is kind of true. I've kind of forgotten who my parents were, but let's not dwell on that.
"I see. Then i suppose these questions won't be answered until your full recovery." The Guildmaster hands the papers to William, and then he walks away with the paper to somewhere.
As he walks away again, i suddenly remember something concerning the dungeons. The multitude of screams and roars can't be good at all, and if anybody goes there...
"Hey. Wait a moment, before you go." Thankfully, i managed to catch his attention as he was about to exit the room. "The, uhh... The dungeon where i woke up in. I remember hearing a whole lot of monster roars and screaming down there."
The both of them has a concerned look on their face. So it does mean something after all. Magnus turns to look towards William and says "Reports Indicated that the dungeon itself had High-Ranking monsters. If that's true, then a High-Class stampede might happen soon. Send a message to every Grade 1 Adventurers currently in the region. now."
William nods in silence before running away in urgency.
That bad, huh? Guess that's why the wizard gal had a horrified look on her face when she heard it.
"You have my thanks for the warning, Girly. Though it seems that we're going to have to prepare for a big war." Wow. It's that bad.
"Before i let you go however, You're going to need an Identity Card. Just head downstairs, talk to the receptionist, and tell him i sent you."
"I'll do that... when i feel like getting up." I turn around to face the wall, and the Guild Master simply chuckles. "Alright. Have a nice rest, then."
I wave him off without a word, and he walks away. Finally leaving me to rest.
It'll be a long while till i get up again. Partially because this bed's so goddamn comfy.
----------------------------------------
Once i got up, There were a whole lot of people downstairs gathering in groups. They look pretty decked out, with Cool-Looking weapons and Armors. William is there as well, Explaining the situation regarding The place we were in. Since that's not my problem, I head over to the receptionist who seemed to be busy with paperwork.
To put it bluntly, He's a twink. Black Short Hair, Cyan Eyes, and A Pretty boy looking face. Looks like he's not the only receptionist, though. There's a blonde girl, and A hunk working as a receptionist. how do i know? They're wearing the same uniform.
I approach him, and he just places an orb onto the table. "I know The Guildmaster sent you. Just place your hands on the table, and i'll get your ID Card ready. Do it quick, too." Straightforward and Impatient. Reminds me of Trent.
I smile at the feeling of nostalgia, before placing my hand on the orb, just like he asked. And out of nowhere, The world around me is enveloped in A White Void.
I looked up, and saw Him. The guy that i didn't want to meet.
"Hi~" He's got a permanent smug smile in his face, and he's doing a little condenscending wave. "Did you miss me?"
