Prologue

From the depths of space, General Zod watched his empire burn before him, the very thing he sacrificed his entire life for was now burning before his very eyes.

The rebellion had failed, the machine God had thwarted his plans of world domination.

His greed had gotten the best of him, he had ignored the advice of his countless advisers, thinking his plan was infallible, and his ego was sky-high.

He was so obvious to him now if only he had seen the world for what it is, maybe, just maybe, he could have succeeded. But it was too late for that now, everything was destroyed, even the machine God himself.

Though Zod couldn't find it in himself to call such a thing a God anymore, it was merely an advanced AI that escaped and survived from the previous era.

Over time, it had upgraded itself way beyond what was thought possible, eventually gaining a mind and ego of its own, a few thousand years later it named itself the machine God because it had developed technology that appeared God-like to the common man.

Using this technology, it bent reality to its will and conquered many worlds, firmly solidifying its place in the galaxy. For thousands of years, it ruled with a diamond fist, nothing could escape it, except him.

His family wasn't so lucky, though, and were brutally killed in a test war the AI had staged against itself.

Using the AI's technology against it, Zod escaped to another reality adjacent to his own, taking with him the very unstable device that allowed him to do so and the necessary knowledge to build it. However, he knew it only bought him a hundred years at best before the tech was developed again and he was killed.

In this reality, the AI hadn't developed to the point where it could oppose him yet.

In the end, he achieved his goal, but it cost him everything, including his humanity, He avenged his family and lived the life he dreamed he would live.

Or so he thought.

//Sim completed.

"Wha-!"

There was a flash of light, and Zod was no more.
