Caleb wrinkled his nose as he walked out of the train station, it's omnipresent smell quick to follow. Sighing, he began the 20 minute treck to his apartment in the edge of Manchester, looking forward to passing out after a grueling day at his job. Talking to annoying customers all day could grate on even the most patient of clerks.
"I have got to find another job before next semester starts or I'm gonna lose it.", he griped as he unlocked his door. Just as he started his stovetop to cook one of the many packets if bacon in his fridge, he noticed a blue light in his vision that began to grow. He watched in shock as it formed into what seemed to be a screen with a message:
Welcome, Multiverse 3006, to the System!
As a precaution to ensure that all new lifeforms and sapients are adequetly prepared to combat the new dangers that a mana-active multiverse will create, all sapients will soon be transported to an Induction based on the choices you will soon be offered.
Time until Induction Trial: 1:00 local minute
"What the hell is that?" Caleb whispered to himself as he read through the message, "am I finally losing my marbles or is this real?".
As Caleb debated his sanity, the timer got closer and closer to zero, prompting Caleb to begin to panic.
"What the fuck happens when it reaches zero? It said transport, does that mean I'm about to get telep-" silence encompassed the now empty apartment, Caleb nowhere to be found. Similar scenes could be found throughout the 3006th multiverse as people were teleported from their homes.
"-orted?" Caleb finished after a momentary delay, realising he was now in a dark void, unable to move his body or see anything beside the new message that appeared in front of him:
