“Being reincarnated will most likely be a traumatic experience. Assuming we can only be reincarnated as humans, we will have to experience our births followed by months of limited mobility and years of limited agency. The choice to reveal yourself to your new parents will be up to you and is greatly debated. The first week of class will be dedicated to exercising as an infant to prevent health complications. This exercise will take the form of natural infant movements so as to not strain your body or alert your parents before you are ready to reveal yourself.”

Ugh, being reborn was extremely uncomfortable. My skin felt raw and I was covered in a liquid I would rather not think about. After a moment of disgust, what must have been a towel was used to wipe me down and it felt like having sandpaper rubbed against my skin. I let out an involuntary cry and opened my eyes once the towel was done with its torture. Immediately, my eyes flinched close again as the light was too bright. And, of course, this entire time I was in someone's hands. I can tell you right now being manhandled as a baby makes you feel extremely vulnerable. Ok, Greg calm down... reincarnation classes have prepared you for this moment. First things first, attempt to move your extremities. I twitched my arms and legs… very weak but present… good. Attempting to clench both hands into fists… got two more twitches. Wiggling toes… thank the System everything is in order. Of course, while I am performing my self-diagnostics, I was wrapped in a blanket much more comfortable than that damn towel and was given to someone, who I can only assume is my mother, as I am being held by someone reclining. I hear voices all around me and now that I am not panicking I realize that I can understand them!
“He is a miracle.” my mother whispered.
"He really is." responds a masculine voice. I hear some rustling, I'm shifted around a bit, and a shadow passes above me. After a few more moments there is a light cough off over my head. "I am sorry to interrupt this moment, but do you have a name for the little guy?" System, that is the squeakiest voice I have ever heard. I almost wish I could cover my ears, but I can't, which is why I hear how my new mother responds. "His name is Jason."
"Are you sure?" my father asks.
"I am. Welcome to Smallville Jason Kent." Mother says softly. My eyes snap open. Oh shit. Looking down on me are my parents and I recognize them. My mother had blue eyes, sweat-soaked blond/brown hair, prominent cheeks, thin eyebrows, and a thin nose. Father had short blond hair, a large forehead, deep-set blue eyes, a medium-sized nose, a prominent brow, and a strong jawline. These were my new parents and, and even though it had been a while since I last watched Smallville, I would recognize them anywhere. These were the parents of Clark Kent, which means I was now the brother of Clark Kent and I would have to deal with all of the craziness that would en sou. I dart my eyes around looking for Clark, but I do not see him anywhere. Either he is not here right now or I got here before the meteor shower. Either one is possible, especially since my parents look a lot younger than I remember them from the TV series. Maybe Clark is with a babysitter. Ugh, all this panicking and bright lights are giving me a headache. I close my eyes just for a moment, but they are so heavy. Exhaustion hits me out of nowhere, and I am asleep before I can think of anything else.

The next time I woke up Jonathan Kent... I mean Dad... was picking me up out of a bassinet. This was going to take a lot of getting used to. It is surprising how fast I seem to be moving even though I know it is only a few feet. Being manhandled, small, dependent, and beholden to parents is going to be very frustrating. Oh, and I had been trying to not even think about this part. My... father... hands me off to my mother... aggghhhhh... who bears her breast and I guess it is feeding time. My body instinctively latches on and it is time to check my status as there is no way in hell I will get through this without distracting myself.

Well, it looks like a lot has changed since I looked at my status in my last life. I have gained unspent experience, quests offered and completed, and gained a new ability. In my last life, scholars have spent thousands of years wondering about the locked portions of the system. Trying over and over again to unlock them. It is funny that the only thing needed to unlock them is being reborn, and my first new ability, Memory Library, is going to be an amazing ability for living in a world from my world's fiction. I will have to re-watch all of the Smallville episodes to get ready for what is coming. But more importantly, all these new unlocked sections mean explanations of what they are, and I, like the rest of my origin world, need to know what they mean.
Experience - A divine resource gained by completing quests. Can be used in the exchange for new abilities, skills, and augments. Can also be used to improve existing abilities, skills, and augments. This resource is housed in the soul and will be transferred between reincarnations.
Infinite growth. As long as there are quests to complete I will gain experience and get stronger. I will definitely need to be strong if I am living in one of the DC universes.
Psionic - This skill, ability, or augment is heavily associated with the mind. Using it causes mental fatigue or psionic energy depending on what is available.
A new type of ability that uses an energy source instead of being inherent. Hopefully, I can either train my mental strength enough to be able to peruse my Mental Library at will, or else I will have to get this psionic energy somehow, most likely through the exchange.
Quests - Objectives assigned by the System to allow the user to gain experience and grow. Objectives are heavily influenced by the user's past actions, the universe the user exists in, and the user's soul.
A simple and straightforward description. At least the System will not give me any quests that do not line up with who I am. Looks like the System has confirmed Clark has not yet arrived on Earth. A quest for survival is a little worrying, but the variable reward means it could just be a placeholder in case I am in life-threatening scenarios.
Exchange - A sub-system that can convert experience into Abilities and Augments. Can also be used to enhance existing Abilities, Augments, and Skills.
And the method of my growth. Let's just go ahead and see what I can get.

Oh, looks like there is no browse function... Well, that is a little sad but let's see what I can find regarding psionic energy, since I might need it if I want to use my Memory Library frequently. Interacting with the search function only took a quick thought toward what I wanted to search for.
-Exchange
- Search: psionic energy
- Psi Pool (Psionic Augment): A pool of mental energy regenerated while the mind is at rest. Drawing on this energy is as natural as breathing although using too much too fast can result in mental exhaustion. The pool can be expanded through continued use. Base pool size is 100 psi. Cost: 500 Experience
- Psi Dimensional Link (Psionic Augment): A link is created between the user and a dimension of endless psionic energy. The user can channel energy from this dimension to fuel skills, abilities, or augments that require psionic energy. While accessing this energy is as easy as opening your eyes, controlling it requires great mental strength that can grow through repeated use. Cost: 1,000 Experience
- Psi Conversion (Psionic Ability): The user can use alternative sources of energy to create Psi energy. The conversion rate depends on the energy being converted and the Psi energy can only be stored within the user for a short time without a receptacle. Converting and storing the Psi energy causes mental fatigue of varying levels. Cost: 250 Experience
- Psi Domain (Divine Augment): The user gains the divine aspect of psionics. Psionic abilities, skills, and augments have no cost. Performing an action with psionics is just a matter of willing it. The user can grant blessings associated with psionic energy or curses that cause psionic energy to perform harmful actions to the target. Cost: 1,000,000,000 Experience
Holy shit. The system can make me a god. Unlimited power... unlimited shareable power, but that experience cost is high enough that it actually seems to match the value of becoming a god. I do not even want to think of how many quests I would need to complete to get close to that experience total. The other options are at least affordable, or at least seem to be. Depending on how fast I can gather experience all of the other options look pretty good one way or another. Psi Pool seems easy to use but is limited in power at first. Eventually, I might be able to expand it, but depending on the growth rate, it might be more efficient to just gather the experience for the Psi Dimensional Link. That option looks like it can grant a lot of power with limited control till I become experienced with accessing the energy. Then there is Psi Conversion. This ability does not allow me to use psionic energy easily or store it for extended periods of time, but it would allow me to create it from other sources such as batteries, electrical outlets, or maybe even calories. If I have an external source of energy, I might be able to immediately use it to power my psionic abilities. Considering how chaotic this universe can be, relying on always having an external source of energy would be poor planning, especially while I'm an infant. Speaking of being an infant I can now open my eyes again since the feeding session has ended. My mother has put away her breast and I can once again see my parents sitting above me.
"This is going to get exhausting. Dr. Shah said that I will have to feed Jason every four to six hours." Mother said.
"Don't worry about a thing, Martha. I will handle the farm, you just worry about recovering and taking care of Jason." father responded staring right at me. He places his hand on my head lightly then leans down and kisses mother on the forehead. They continue to talk regarding their plans to take care of the farm and if they will need an additional farmhand till mother can start helping out again. No mention of Clark helping out means that he is either really young or they have not adopted him yet. It only takes ten or fifteen minutes before they put me back in my bassinet and they turn off the lights. I do not know what time it is, but there is minimal light coming in from the window.
I spend a little more time thinking about my options before realizing that I might not even need psi to effectively use Memory Library. Well, I guess now is as good a time to try out Memory Library. As soon as I decided to use the ability it was as if I took a step back from my own eyes. My vision narrowed and became blurry, then black. After a moment, blurry colors began to appear from the center of my filed of view, quickly spreading out and coming into focus. I was now standing in a large room facing a white marble fireplace . All along the hearth were etched patterns of vines and angels. Flanking the fireplace were two iron statues of a soldier and a roman senator. Above the fireplace was a faded tapestry depicting several people on horses, including a man with donkey ears. Wall to wall wooden book cases reaching so high that I cannot see the ceiling filled with books of all different colors and sizes. The floor was a combinations of light and dark lacquered brown wood oriented in square tiles filled with criss-crossing wooden slats to give the illusion of the tiles being woven together. Covering a majority of the floor was an oriental rug with a deep blue center and a three foot thick light red edge, all of which was covered in many colored shapes. In the center of the room was a closed book on a black marble podium.
I began walking over to the podium only to do a double take as I realized I was walking. I quickly looked at my hands, front then back, followed by a pat down. I knew this body. It's my last life's adult body back when I was young! It felt great to be young again without being manhandled. No aches or pains from age and old injuries. Even without all of the enhanced memories this ability is already proving its worth. A place to be my old self away from the world. With a relieved sigh, I finish my approach to the podium and inspect the book. It has a navy blue leather binding with gold lettering embossed on the front.
Smallville: Season One
Episode One - Pilot
Memory Time - 3 Hours 12 Minutes
I guess being born in the Smallville universe means that Smallville was at the forefront of old memories I wanted to visit. I open the book and all of a sudden my mind is flooded with details of myself laying down in my freshman college dorm, my laptop on my lap, headphones over my ears, pressing play on the first episode of Smallville. Other than my bed and the computer screen, the rest of the dorm is out of focus and a bit blurry. No matter how hard I try I cannot turn my head or inspect the rest of the room. I guess when the ability description says the details of the memory depend on what I was paying attention to at the time it meant it. Without being able to focus on anything else, I focus on enjoying the show...
It was only two minutes later that I began to feel tired, but I kept reliving the memory to see how long I could go. Five minutes after opening the book I was so exhausted my vision was fading to black. The same feeling of stepping back from my vision occurred, but instead of my surroundings slowly coming into focus, it was as if I had stepped forward into my body. I had all of two seconds looking up from my bassinet before my exhaustion caught up to my body and I passed out.
