Thank you, everyone, for sticking around. I am very grateful for the support, even though the story fell to the wayside for quite a long time. After I started editing, I decided a core element of the story needed to change, and embarked on a full rework of early chapters. It's taken a lot of time to get all the loose threads together, but I'm almost done.
I will conclude this author update with a brief summary of the story prior to my rework. Hopefully, this will help previous readers orient themselves when the new chapters go live. Oh, and make this update long enough to be able to post, of course. I really wish there was a dedicated "author update" option that negated the five hundred word requirement. Maybe I missed it.
Who knows.
Anyway.
It's hard to believe I began this story over a year ago, but the time has finally arrived!
Reworked chapters of An Artist's Guide to Cultivation will begin updating July 1, 2024!!
In the original version, the story began in the our world, where the main character has visions of place he’s never been to before. His friend tricks him into seeing a fortune teller/psychic lady, and he grudgingly goes just to placate her. Afterwords, he bumps into someone who is dressed VERY weird.
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Later gets stabbed by a knife at an art gallery and dies. He then wakes up in a xianxia world, is attacked by a beast, and is then saved by someone in white robes. The same person who he bumped into.
And he distinctly remembers that person was also the one who killed him.
In search of a way to figure out what happened and who it was, the main character joins Serene Valley and embarks on the path of a cultivator. His friend he met along the way makes some progress, but the main character gets a bit… sidetracked. This new world has one giant glaring flaw.
No one knows what painting is.
He has a mild crisis, and vows to create paintings and fill the world with art. For someone who was about to win an award in his old life, this is a travesty he must correct. The main character searches for materials to make paint, ignores his sword training lessons, and becomes a thorn in the side of a powerful clan heir without really trying.
His friend becomes jealous when he suddenly makes significant progress in his cultivation. The main character never cared about cultivation, at least, not until his mentor points out that many rare herbs only grow in very dangerous locations.
So he gets motivated.
He makes even more enemies.
And as of Chapter 18, really, not much happened.
sp there you have it, my terrible, meandering summary to fill this author update meant to inform current readers the story WILL CONTINUE JULY FIRST.
Did I mention this fiction will be deleted? The story changed way too much to just update this one, so I’ll be giving the cover a facelift and start over, probably with a new name as well.
If you actually read all this, wow, you’re dedicated.
Thanks.
