Outside I heard the feet pounding up the stairs as they checked every room.
I quickly locked the door and looked at a terrified face in the mirror. “OH god, they are already here. How did they find me! It’s almost two years ahead of schedule!” I knew I had been betrayed, and by someone close to me. With despair in my heart, I broke into rough sobs as I stared into the mirror.
‘I have to make the most of it though,’ I thought to myself, splashing cool water on my face. I turned to my computer and grabbed the hard drive nestled alongside it. Looking at its silver surface I thought back to how I’d acquired this device.
With a stiffening sigh, I walk to my bedroom to look for a place to hide it. Maybe the next generation will find it and continue my mission.
I already know I was not getting away from this one. For the things, I planned to do they would have brought the whole army here!

Opening the boards under my bed I glance at the hole in the concrete I spent hours drilling into. With a dark chuckle, I placed the hard drive into place sliding perfectly into the hole I made. I ran my fingers over the raised phoenix on the silver case with a few tears in my eyes.
“Hopefully, someone else can find it and be as moved as I was. It is about time our society ends.” Closing the lid and made sure that there was no sign that there was anything there. Eventually satisfied that they would never find it; I took off my belt and begin to pray. Something I haven’t done in a long, long time.
THAT’S WHEN THE POUNDING STARTED AGAIN. “Sir open up! Open the door immediately!”
Taking a second to look at the clock on the wall I note the upcoming time of my demise. 10:05 am what a stupid time to die.
Quickly I put the belt loop over my head and climbed onto the bed. Tying the belt to the top of the bedpost I took a deep breath and took a flying leap just as the door seemed to fall into itself as the nameless agents swarmed into the room. Jumping from the four-poster bed I hurtled towards the floor when a sudden crack resounded in the room. And all started to fade away. I hope the guy upstairs heard my prayer. With all, I did in this life he knows I needed it.
