It was a normal day when it all started. He was walking home from a long day at school. Home to his horrific family…
I wish I could just get away. Ever since my parents died and I had to move in with this family, it’s been like hell on Earth. I have to do all the housework. And when I finally have any free time, I’m not allowed to play computer more than an hour per day.
Mason’s parents had died when he was 11. He had arrived home earlier than his parents, as per usual. But after a while, they still hadn’t arrived. He was starting to get worried, so he called them. When they didn’t pick up, he was starting to freak out. But he convinced himself that something work-related came up. A little later he heard a knock on the door. When he opened it there was a policeman there.
It was 5 years ago now, shortly after the accident he had moved in with another family. They were nice at first, but after a couple of months. It changed, they started treating him like a servant.
One day I will move out, and I won’t have to follow their stupid rules.
Mason spent most of his time playing games or reading web novels. He had always felt slightly out of place in his life. Like there was nothing for him to do. That was probably the reason he spent most of his time in other worlds. Whether it be digital or on text. He had always thought that if he was in the shoes of those in the texts, he would do amazingly. With all the stories he had read, he would be quite proficient in a fantasy world, no matter what type of system it was operating under.
And it was at that moment, by an incredible twist of fate, for god knows what reason, that he got his wish. Reality warped and twisted, and with a *pop*. He was gone, it was like he was never there.
-----------------------------In a different world-------------------------------
“… Where are they?”
“How should I know?”
Two people were standing in the middle of a complex drawing. They were standing in what looked like an underground chamber. There were 30 feet to the roof, the room was 120 feet on each side, and was empty besides the two men.
One of them looked at the floor and then shouted.
“… You messed up the location formula!!! We only had one chance at this, and now a hundred people from a different world is spread across the whole world! Boss will be so ma…”
“Where are the humans?”
The voice sounded like a whisper, coming from all around the room. The voice sent a shiver down the spine of the two people.
“T- t- the l- location formula w- w- w- was w- wrong. T- they c- c- could be a- a- anywh…”
Before he had time to finish his sentence, he was gripped by incredible pain. It felt like he was burning from the inside out. His whole body cramped, he couldn’t even scream. Then there was nothing.
A hooded person walked out from the shadows in one corner. The hooded person looked at the two corpses for a second, then disappeared the same way he manifested.
-------------In a different part of the world---------------
*pop*
“…”
Mason was dumbfounded, a moment earlier he was turning a corner on a street. And now he was in the middle of a forest, there was nothing but forest as far as he could see.
“What just happened?”
He stood up.
“Where am…”
At that moment, Mason heard a growl behind him. He slowly turned around, and as soon as he saw what It was, he fell on his ass and wanted to scream. But nothing came out of his throat. A monster was towering over him, he could feel the heat from its throat, it was that close. The monster jumped on top of him and tried to bite his neck. He pushed it away from him and stood up. As soon as he got on his feet, he started running. After a little while, he looked back. That was a mistake. Right behind him was the monster, it jumped onto him. And he fell again, he was doing that a lot recently. He tried holding it off and looked around. And right there, next to him, was a rock. And a sharp one at that. He had never been so happy to see a rock. He immediately picked it up, and when he looked back at the monster, it was about to bite down onto him. He immediately took the rock and hit the monster on the head. It jumped off him, but before it could get away, he jumped on top of it. And he hit it, again, and again. Until there was nothing left of its face, it was unrecognizable.

You have killed a lvl. 1 Forest Wolf!!
You gained 7 Exp
…
At that moment the pain hit. While he was hitting the wolf, it wasn’t just letting him without retaliating, it was clawing at him, on every body part it could get its hands on. Or paws in this case. He didn’t notice in the middle of the fight, since adrenaline was pumping through his body. But now that it was over, the pain came.
“AHHHH!!!”
After rolling around on the ground for a good half hour, he finally lay still.
What the actual fuck is going on. I’m sure I just saw floating text in front of my eyes.
You have killed a lvl. 1 Forest Wolf!!
You gained 7 Exp
And as he thought that, it popped up again. As if it was responding to his thoughts. From his perspective, it looked like the text was floating in mid-air. But, in actuality, it was more like it was burned onto his retina. Of course, he didn’t know that.
What is happening, there is no way I got transported into another world or something like that. This is probably just my mind playing tricks on me.
Mason decided to try and find out what was going on with the weird text.
If I’m actually in some kind of different world, and there is a system in place like the games and stories I used to play and read. There should be some kind of status. Now how do I bring it up?

The moment he thought of wanting to bring up his status, it popped up on his retina.
He looked at his status for a while, and then thought.
It’s somewhat how I expected it to be.
He had never really spent a lot of time on physical activities, and had always done well in school, and strategy games.
I just wonder what the different stats do, I never expected myself to have an agility of 10.
And once again, when he thought of wanting it to appear, it appeared. A full explanation of what the stat agility did. He read it thoroughly. And then did the same for all the other stats. After he was finished, he had learned something along the lines of;
Strength was how strong one was. It didn’t increase muscle mass after a specific point, after that point, it just increased the capabilities of the muscles already there. However, by improving one’s strength, a person did not move faster, he/she simply hit harder.
Improving one’s speed was what agility was for, from what he read, it sounded like it slowed down time a minuscule amount, for that person only, for each stat point. Which also meant that by improving agility, one could also improve reaction time. But if someone only raised agility, it didn’t mean that person could hit harder, only faster.
Endurance increased one’s stamina.
Resistance was pretty simple, it was the resistance of one’s body against just about everything. If a person raised his/her strength to extreme levels, without raising resistance. He or she could break their bones.
Intelligence was how fast one could think, and how easy it was for that person to come to conclusions or get good ideas, in short, it was the power of the mind. On top of that, it increased a person's ability to use magic, the higher the intelligence, the faster the casting time, and the stronger the spell.
And finally, wisdom. Wisdom increased a person’s mana capacity, and the rate of which said person regenerated mana.
So strength and resistance went hand in hand, and intelligence and wisdom went hand in hand.

…
He had a big fat 0, as his amount of skills. He was a little sad at first, but after he thought about it, it made sense.
Before he could look into anything else he looked around, and realized that it was getting dark. He had spent a long time simply reading of the different things in his status. The previous forest was nowhere to find. The forest looked dark and scary. And with the dead wolf corpse he could see nearby, he had moved away after recovering his breath, he was getting the chills.
I need to find shelter, and something to eat and drink
As if responding to his thoughts, his stomach rumbled.
He started looking around, and after what felt like several hours, but judging by the moon was probably only one, he gave up. He decided to try and build something to sleep in himself. He then proceeded to pick up all the sticks and branches he could find, that was of a decent length. And after picking what he thought was enough, he placed one end on the ground, with the other end against the tree. He then proceeded to do so all around the tree, only leaving a small entrance. He then climbed in and thought to himself.
This is probably the worst place I’ve ever slept. And this is not even close to how I expected me being transported into a different world would be like.
He fell asleep with a frown on his face. And the sound of wolves howling in the distance
