Chapter 10: Red battle

A flesh golem formed from the bodies of the fallen bent over Akally and his companions. Exhausted, they lay on the ground holding on to the last remnants of their will. The red-haired youth looked up at the enemy with bloodshot blue eyes. A plump left hand with one thumb and two other fingers gently gripped the young man's head. The giant picked it up like a rag doll fluttering in the wind to the level of its empty eyes. Unexpectedly, the golem swung upwards to forcefully slam the limp body back into the dirt. The redhead's eyes went dark. He lost consciousness from the painful shock. His battle ended here.

With wobbly steps, the monster approached another toy lying in its own blood. It swung his long, six-fingered right hand at the leather-armoured man. It wanted to sweep it from the world of the living like an annoying crumb from the tabletop.

A brown-haired beauty in a red crop top, fingerless gloves and long pants sat down next to the half-dead redhead. She put her fingers on his neck to take his pulse. "He's breathing," she whispered, wiping her face with her hand, "I doubt you'll enjoy this more than me, redhead." She leaned in and kissed him lightly on his lips. Luminous pink energy began to flow through Akally's veins, the wounds slowly began to heal, and the crunching rhythm of the fused bones quickened. "Hey, fatty!" the beauty called out to the overgrown monster. The long arm stopped. It turned towards the new voice.

"There was no time to warm up on the way here, so try to last as long as you can," with her arms outstretched she cracked her fingers. The colossus of flesh and blood examined her. Although her outfit did not cover her trained abs or biceps, she was three times smaller than the golem. The lifeless horde of muscles was incapable of emotion, but an onlooker might think it was mocking her remark. The colossus gradually accelerated from a clumsy walk to a light trot. Without hesitation, he landed a powerful and surprisingly quick left hook. The huntress minimized her movements. At close range, she dodged the attack to her right side. She extended her right hand. She returned the favour with a right hook that shot as fast as a bullet to the ribs. The blow was strong enough for the monster to feel it. "I'm not done yet," she breathed and continued with another strike. She easily knocked the enemy off balance. The giant left hand was returning from the golem's right side. Redtop did a star capped back somersault. Standing firmly on the ground, she prepared for another exchange of blows. Huntress leaned back with her right leg and stepped slightly forward with her left. Her hands clenched tightly into fists.

The colossus ran at her again. This time, however, the huntress started to run towards him as well. She ducked to the left as she ran, without slowing down. A long right-hand shot narrowly missed her. She slipped under the giant's legs. As soon as she got to her feet behind him, she continued running. She stopped at another body of a young brown-haired huntress. She quickly checked her pulse. The victim of the previous rampage was reaching for her bow with a broken hand. Even in this state, she still had the will to fight. "Take it easy. You're not exactly my type, but for this time,” she kissed her just like Akally, “I'll make an exception.” The shocked girl's eyes widened in surprise. A pink glow spread over her body, sealing her wounds. The warrior retreated a little further away from the archer's body. She resumed her fighting stance. [Ménage à trois] She exclaimed confidently. This time her nimble legs bounced impatiently on the spot. Redtop felt an electric current in her that filled her with new strength. She did not clench her hands into fists, left her palms open. However, she pointed her fingers at the beast to challenge her opponent again. But such a provocation was unnecessary for a non-thinking thing like the golem. Its goal was already set - to destroy everything before him. The third round has begun.

The giant used his favourite left hook again. The massive body was unable to develop the speed that the intrepid brunette possessed. It turned his entire body counterclockwise and jerked back. It sent a cannonball right at the hood. A lightning strike stopped the colossal attack. The small fist sank into the flesh, stopping a potentially fatal blow. The beauty pulled her hand out, inspecting the delicate slender fingers covered in thick blood and bits of disfigured flesh. She scrubbed her hand twice to get the nasty residue off it. Time to go on the offensive. In an instant, she crossed the distance between her and the monster's torso. She ended her steps with the right cross. The left cross followed. Right. Left. Right. Left. Each blow was faster and stronger than before. Elegant movements were lost in a flood of fury. The clearly recognizable techniques were turning into a blurred afterglow of previous wounds. The creature felt no pain, but the tearing of muscles and crushing of bones could not be ignored. Goliath raised its mighty hammer above his head. It lowered hammer fist down onto the ladybug. The calculating insect jumped on the giant's slimmer right hand. She bounced off it into the air. A fleshy meteor was approaching the earth. A turn. Kick. The hammer of injustice has changed direction. A blow to the head with its own fist put the golem on its back. The lady landed gracefully on the soft torso. She took a few steps towards the hideous head. She intertwined the fingers of both hands and began to brutally beat the beast in the blunt face. The match is over.

Stolen story; please report.

At least it seemed that way for the first few seconds before one strong buckle grabbed her, then another completed the squeeze. David was like a cherry to the giant. It threw the redtop into the thick trunk of a coniferous tree. The heroine's hard impact almost broke a few ribs, but definitely added a few bruises. While the warrior recovered, the golem rose to its feet. The match continues.

The colossus held his stomach with his left hand as he went on the offensive with his faster and longer right hand. The sudden change in rhythm surprised the woman. She raised her hand to the level of her head to shield her face. The strike wasn't that powerful, but the huntress still had to tense her muscles to defend herself. In a single moment, she managed to overcome the monster's strength and repel the attack. She didn't want to give up the chance to get the upper hand. The huntress prepared her fist. She bounced off the spot. She ended the nimble jump forward with a left cross. Although she did not miss the target, this time the small fist did not break through the defence of the golem's left arm. She pulled her hand back. She knew what that meant - her strength was leaving her. The unintelligent creature only had brute strength on its side, but the huntress was hardly a match for that now. A decisive blow had to be struck. She could not prolong the fight any longer.

The echoes of powerful blows rang in the ears of the red-haired youth, who was regaining consciousness. Whatever that kiss had done to him, his strength was returning, and his wounds were healing. However, he was not yet fully conscious. In the darkness of his mind, he heard a brave woman's roar in the heat of battle. Even though he was trying to figure out where the sounds were coming from, he couldn't get his bearings. A familiar message from his Patron appeared before him: [Last survivor welcomes you in his world.]

“Cozy,” Akally noted sarcastically.

[Last survivor tells you to calm down.]

“I am calm, don’t you see?” he answered when his knees started to shake.

[No, you are not.]

The lad paused over the style of the answer.

[You have to listen to me, it is important.]

“Are you Last survivor?”

[There is no time for that. You have to open your eyes.]

“Wait! How is it possible you directly talk to me?”

[Open your eyes, boy.]

“They are opened, or I wouldn’t be able to read this,” he sighed, “Are you my Patron? Or are you something else?”

[All these questions… Open your damn eyes!]

“I am telling you they are opened. Answer me.”

[There is no time. You have to open your eyes.]

“What do you mean? They are opened.”

[This is not your world, Akally. You have to open your eyes.]

The boy sat down on the ground in the darkness of his mind. It was smooth as glass, but not cold. Pulling his knees to his chest, he placed his crossed arms on them, "I don't want to," he hissed indignantly.

[You have to open them.]

"Why should I? It's better this way," he buried his head in his lap.

[I know you're scared, but you have to do it.]

"Why should I?" he repeated his question tearfully.

[Because I know you would never let a friend die.]

He raised his head and saw a light coming toward him. Akally opened his eyes. He was lying on the ground, all over his body still feeling pain, which was gradually disappearing. He cautiously craned his neck to look around at the bloody mess left by the clash with the group of chimaeras. These creatures, like the golem, were composed of various body parts of humans, animals, and monsters. With all his remaining strength, he braced himself with his hands so that he could at least sit up. He began to perceive the world with the rest of his senses. The smell of blood and flesh was so strong that he could sense it on his tongue. The sounds of blunt blows, like a butcher pounding meat with a mallet, rang in his ears. Dea. Where is Dea? In the dirt and pools of blood between the bodies of the chimaeras, the lad searched for his female friend. He found her quickly. Crawled towards her on all fours like a beaten dog. She was alive and even conscious. Her wounds were healing just like the redhead's.

"You came to save me, saint?" she laughed before moaning in pain.

"I see you've lost some blood, but not your sense of humour," he chuckled.

"Me joking," the pain crooked her smile again, "how did you come up with such bullshit?"

"You need to rest," he stroked her forehead.

She gasped for more words, "Where's the brunette?"

“Whom are you talking about?” he furrowed his red brows seriously.

"The one who ki-" the girl stopped, "the one who cured me."

Suddenly it dawned on both of them, "Golem!" they shouted in unison. Meanwhile, the commotion they had been ignoring had stopped. Akally looked around the battlefield. A cruel golem made of the flesh of dead bodies stood triumphantly on its feet. A few meters away in front of him stood a weary kiss thief. At her feet, a small pool of blood reflected her exhausted expression as she bowed in defeat, her hands stained with sweat, to the dirt. Blue, purple and brown bruises and ugly deep and shallow scratches covered the thin body. "No," the red-haired lad got through a tight throat. A small tear ran down his face.

She heard his faint voice and turned to him. Slowly elegantly ran her hand through her hair, chestnuts blending with rubies to the colour of dark chocolate. She ran her thumb across her lips, wiping the blood from both corners of her mouth. The woman gave the lad a devilishly seductive smile: "Don't worry about that blood, it’s not mine." She blew Goliath an air kiss, after which he fell to the ground in a daze. "I'm no white knight, but I am still quite charmer," she joked before tiredness caught up with her as well and she passed out.
