Awaken

In the year 88730 of the interstellar era, humanity entered an age of peace. The three great empires, having defeated the insectoid race, had been allied for five thousand years, coexisting harmoniously.

All sorts of hover cars glided silently between towering skyscrapers, a far cry from the noise and pollution of the ancient times.

At the top of a nine-star Winton luxury hotel in the heart of the Alliance city, an AI robot, responsible for daily life management, reported precisely at 6:00 AM:

"Good morning, Madam. Based on your schedule for today, it is advisable that you get up now."

The person on the white fleece-colored bed finally moved, turning over. Her face, hidden beneath golden locks of hair, came into view. It was a captivating face, with fair skin, the unique elegance of a mixed heritage, and those deep blue eyes.

They were deep and enchanting.

"Good morning, Sir." Dawson rose from the bed and walked directly to the bathroom. She removed her robe, letting the warm water soak her body. Her posture was straight and graceful, with a tall, slender figure. The glass mirror reflected the beautiful, flowing curves of her body, accentuating her toned form, perfect abs, and the well-defined, enviable lines of her waist. It spoke of a strength that could not be underestimated, even leaving one in awe.

Except for the normal physical structure possessed by every healthy alpha, which was too difficult to bear looking at.

Even though Dawson had lived in this world for more than a decade, she still hadn't gotten used to it. She wasn't a true-born interstellar citizen; instead, she carried the memories of her past life. Dawson preferred to call it "time travel"—she had traveled to this era.

Dawson had come from an era much earlier than this one, a time when humanity still lived on a planet called Earth. In her previous life, Earth was struck by a zombie virus, which caused human civilization to fall back decades. After enduring a grueling seven-year apocalypse, humanity ultimately triumphed, but at an incredibly painful cost. Dawson was one of the sacrifices for that victory.

It was nothing like the stories in novels, where the apocalypse brought not only zombies but also supernatural powers. In Dawson's world, there were no special abilities, only super-soldiers enhanced through experiments. Dawson was one of these enhanced soldiers, with her physical abilities and strength pushed to the extreme. Even her brain had been opened up to its full capacity. The downside, however, was that her lifespan was drastically shortened. Some people managed to survive for a few more years, while others barely lasted a month. Dawson was one of the most successful soldiers, surviving until the end of the apocalypse, with her physical potential fully exploited.

Dawson knew she wouldn't live much longer, and she accepted this fate with calm resignation. She left the human base, intending to quietly await her death in the wilderness. But just as she closed her eyes, her soul was transported to this era—a whole new interstellar age.

The bathroom began playing soft music, and the ventilation system kicked in, also serving as a reminder that Dawson had been in the bathroom for too long, which could delay her next scheduled activities.

Dawson quickly finished her shower. In the interstellar age, everyone’s daily schedule was strictly regulated. Especially for underage interstellar citizens, the government had established a set of management rules that would automatically download to each person’s light brain. No matter where you went, the light brain would instantly remind you of the rules, and the program wouldn’t be allowed to be formatted until you reached adulthood. The meticulousness of this system was a constant source of complaint and dissatisfaction.

Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do about it. If you broke the rules, a mark would be recorded in your career light records. The light records were required for every school and job evaluation. In short, it would have a significant impact on your future life.

Coincidentally, Dawson was currently nineteen, and according to the interstellar standard of adulthood being at twenty, she still had almost four months to go before she became an adult. Moreover, as the nominal heir of the O'Veld family, Dawson was not allowed to make even the slightest mistake.

When she left the bathroom, the dining table had already been set with food. An AI robot stood by holding a napkin. Dawson politely took the napkin and gracefully sat down to enjoy her delicious breakfast. Every word and action she made while outside would be transmitted back to the O'Veld family, who were known throughout the empire as the model of etiquette.

As the current head of the family’s eldest daughter and the first heir of the O'Veld family, Dawson had been taught proper manners from the moment she was born.

If she made even the smallest mistake, she would probably be called back for a day of family education. A dark flash passed through Dawson’s eyes, but she remained calm and composed.

"The opening ceremony for Imperial University will start at exactly 10 AM. As the student representative, you are scheduled to speak. Please ensure that you arrive at Caspi Star by 8:50."

There was a sudden pause in the conversation. The AI robot’s eyes suddenly flashed with data, and it bent forward to ask, “Madam, you have a video call from Norton Star. Would you like to open it?”

Norton Star was a small planet in the universe, known for its beautiful, retro natural scenery. It had been developed into a popular tourist destination, particularly favored by OAs. If she remembered correctly, her sister, Wenya, was currently traveling with her classmates during their holiday, and Norton Star was their first stop. It was just the right time for them to have arrived there.

Dawson took a sip of milk and nodded. "Open it."

As soon as the words were spoken, a light screen immediately appeared in the room. On the screen stood a beautiful girl with black hair and eyes, standing in front of a large glass window. Behind the glass was a vibrant forest, the kind of scene that could be found all over Earth in her past life. But now, in the interstellar age, such forests had become rare and had to be carefully preserved in glass jars as "cultural relics." Dawson couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy at this stark contrast.

As the screen opened, the girl’s pupils suddenly brightened, and a smile appeared on her fair face.

"My dear sister, I’ve arrived at Norton Star! So, what do you think? Are you regretting not joining me on this planetary tour? This ancient forest, unlike anything AI can replicate, is absolutely beautiful, right?"

Dawson’s expression softened, and she chuckled softly. "If you don’t need my help fixing that terrible mecha energy project of yours when you get back, maybe I’ll be a little happier."

Wenya’s pale face flushed a deep shade of tomato red as she angrily retorted, "Dream on!"

Then, the light screen went black. One could easily imagine the flustered expression on Wenya’s face far away on Norton Star. Dawson curled her lips into a smile and sent a message through her light brain on the wristband.

She instructed that someone should continue to keep an eye on Wenya and protect her. Even though it was a peaceful era, accidents could still happen, and it was always better to be prepared.

Looking up, Dawson could see the entire Alliance City from the transparent glass wall. The one-way glass, made from a special memory alloy with the hardness of Class A armor, posed no privacy concerns. It was as safe as it was reliable.
