Chapter 12: Meeting Amelia

The next morning, Kaiser is walking around the marketplace with Farah again.

And just like the two previous mornings, he runs into the white-haired girl again. This time, she is standing in front of an ice cream stall. Kaiser hesitates, unsure if he should approach and greet her, but before he can decide, the white-haired girl turns around and spots him. Her expression looks like she’s asking, “Why is it always this guy?”

After buying an ice cream, she walks toward Kaiser. Seeing this, Farah lets go of his hand and steps aside, a mischievous smile playing on her lips

Standing in front of him, the white-haired girl speaks first:

“Do you know who I am? I thought wearing this cloak would be enough to hide me” she says in the most beautiful voice Kaiser has ever heard.

“You’re a noble, aren’t you?” Kaiser quickly composes himself.

“So I am right, you do know who I am. And here I thought I was doing a good job of concealing myself” she says, putting her hand under her chin

“I don’t actually know who you are” Kaiser admits

“Huh? Then how do you know I’m a noble?” The girl looks surprised by his response

“I just guessed. You’re too beautiful to be anyone ordinary” Kaiser says confidently, without a hint of hesitation

Hearing Kaiser’s shameless compliment, the white-haired girl’s face turns visibly red.

“L-Lucky for you, y-you seem to have good taste in people” she stammers

“It’s not really luck. If anyone says you’re not beautiful, it just means they don’t have eyes” Kaiser adds, his expression unchanging

“Y-Y-You don’t feel embarrassed saying things like that?” Her face turns even redder

“I’m just speaking the truth” he replies calmly

The girl turns her face to the side, avoiding Kaiser’s gaze. After a moment, she stammers again:

“L-Let’s forget about that. W-What’s your name?”

“My name is Kaiser. What about you?” he asks

“You don’t have a family name? You’re not a noble?” she asks, clearly surprised

“Uh… No. Why would you think that?” Kaiser pauses briefly before responding

“B-Because you… seem to have manners. Yes, that’s right, because you seem very proper!” she says quickly

“And you’re also very handsome…” she mumbles quietly to herself

“Huh?” Kaiser looks confused

“What was that?”

“N-Nothing!” she exclaims

“All right, Kaiser,” she says, regaining her composure. “Since you asked, I’ll answer. My name is Amelia Zephis”

Zephis… Her last name triggers a memory in Kaiser’s mind from what Myreni had said the day before:

"The royal families in each continent bear names tied to their land. Nythis in Nytheris, Calistry in Calystria, Zephis in Zephyros, Solaris in Solareth."

‘So she’s royalty. No wonder she’s so stunning’ Kaiser thinks to himself

“You’re a princess, aren’t you? Why would someone as noble as you be here?” he asks

“Why shouldn’t a princess be here? Besides, I’m not the eldest child, so I won’t inherit the throne anyway” Amelia replies, crossing her arms

“But are you sure you’re not a noble?” she asks, staring directly at Kaiser

“N-No, I’m really not” he stammers

“That’s weird. You seem more like a noble than most nobles” she mutters

“Whatever. Do you always explore the marketplace in the morning? We’ve run into each other three days in a row now” Amelia asks

“Maybe. I guess I come here every morning with my sister” Kaiser says, pointing to Farah, who is off in the distance, covering her mouth to hide her smile.

“I usually come here in the mornings too. I think we’re a good match. What do you think about us walking around together? After all, we’re both here for the same reason” Amelia suggests

“Sure, I think that’s a good idea” Kaiser agrees immediately

“All right, Kaiser. Let’s meet tomorrow at the entrance of the marketplace” Amelia says, extending her hand

“Okay, we’ll meet again tomorrow, Amelia” Kaiser replies, shaking her hand

“Goodbye, I’ve got to go now” Amelia says

“Bye, Amelia” Kaiser says, waving goodbye

The two parted ways, walking in opposite directions. Kaiser makes his way toward Farah. When he stands in front of her, she smiles mischievously and says:

“What happened to the boy who turned red as a tomato when his big sister patted his head?”

“He was just shy” he replies calmly

“Haha, so now you’ve learned how to talk back huh? You little handsome brat” Farah laughs, patting his head, causing a faint blush to appear on Kaiser’s face

The two of them then return home to prepare for the afternoon lesson with Zani

[Amelia’s POV]

‘Aaarghhh!’ Amelia screams internally

“I can’t believe I ran into him again” Amelia says, covering her face with her hands

“Did I manage to maintain my image? I really don’t want him to think I’m some kind of creep” she mutters to herself

The truth is, Amelia has been captivated by Kaiser from the very first time they met. He is the most handsome person she’s ever seen. Running into him repeatedly only deepens her fascination

“He’s not only handsome but also has such a warm voice. He even calls me beautiful” Amelia thinks as her cheeks turn red once more

“He says his name is Kaiser. That name suits him so well. I can’t believe he’s not a noble. But that doesn’t matter. Thank goodness I’m not Amiel, marrying a commoner might not be encouraged, but it’s not forbidden” she reasons carefully

At that moment, a figure dressed entirely in black appears behind her and says,

“Your Highness, shall I investigate that boy for you?”

“No, you don’t need to do that. That would make me a creep” Amelia replies

‘But he says that beastkin girl over there is his sister. Are they orphans?’ she suddenly remembers the image of Farah

“Forget it. I’ll ask him myself” she decides

Meanwhile, in a magical tower on the continent of Zephyros, a man clad in a black cloak steps out of a teleportation circle

“He’s quite close” the man says, with an ember-like glow flickering beneath his hood
