“I’m of to a great start!”
----------------------------------------
As Fred is materialized in the login building by the town entrance, he receives his first message.
Hello Fred. It’s me, Roger. Glad to see you have entered the game. You are also the fastest at creating your character, ever! I’m happy to see such enthusiasm in you!
But now to work. As you know, the AI will base some of our NPCs of you, so don’t go around doing things that are stupid, like eating rocks and the like. You, along with 4 others, have been given the occupation of agility trainers so you should spend as much time as possible within the ‘Agility course’ to give the AI some basic routines to follow.
As a part of our workforce in the game you have been given the ability to teleport to your Agility station. The command is ‘Teleport work’ and if you want to change it, don’t even bother, Carl won’t let you anyway.
In order to not have you being a complete newb in agility training, you will get 2 in-game weeks to train. If you don’t want to train… I don’t know what will happen actually, but you will be the weakest trainer there for sure! And you will never be the master of the ‘Agility course’!
Anyway, have a good time. Bye.
“...Who is Roger? Well this is work, so I might as well start. Teleport work.”
----------------------------------------
“This is what i expected, so no surprise here at least. Should you really hang from the roof like that tho?”
“... Are you here for the job as a trainer?”
“Yes?”
“...Good. I have searched far and wide for someone who could take over the course after my death. Come, and let me see your potential.”
“Okay?”
Fred walks through the entrance hall to join the old man in the sparring room. The old wood strangely not creaking as the old man walks across it, but moaning under the weight of Fred.
As they enter the well lit room, the old man turns to Fred.
“My name is Isoide, but you may call me ‘the great conqueror of the fallen vale, Isoide’.”
“I think Isoide is enough. I’m Fred.”
“Very well. In here, I will see if you have the abilities to work here. All you have to do is catch this ball I throw.”
“... That sounds a little too easy.”
“You are indeed correct. It sounds easier than it is. Shall we begin?”
“Yes. Give it your all, I will get it!”
“I will not ‘Give it my all’. If I do, you may die. About a fortieth should be enough.”
As the Isoide charges his throw, Fred starts to gather his thoughts. ‘Alright, I can do this! I can do this! He is old, there is no way he can throw that ball fast enough for me to not catch it.’
Isoide goes through his throwing arc and releases the ball.
‘That bastard threw it away from me! And it’s a bad pitch! There is no way I’m going to catch that from this position!’
As Fred charges through the room, Isoide watches him with amusement. ‘Well at least he has got the spirit. But he will have to pass the next test as well.’
‘I’ve got it! Yes! Wall! Fu-!’
“What are you doing? There is no need to run into the walls. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Just give me a moment.”
“Well there are more tests, so we should continue.”
“More tests? Why? I have shoved i have got the agility to catch the ball?”
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“You were not supposed to catch the ball. You were supposed to ‘try’ to catch it, and you did, so now we go on to the second test.”
“...Fine. Whatever.” ‘Stupid old man and his insult of a throw.’
“Follow me.”
They enter the entrance hall again and move to yet another room.
“Answer these questions?”
‘... A paper test? With math? And trivia about the town?’ “Why do I have to answer these?”
“I don’t want to hire Illiterate people or idiots. Get at least quarter of the questions right and I will hire you.”
‘That’s harsh… But I understand what he means. Luckily the math questions are about half of the test so i should be fine.’
‘This is too easy! There is only addition and subtraction! Nothing else! Anyone could answer these questions! And trivia about the town?! ‘what is this town called?’, ‘name a person living in this town?’, ‘in what kingdom are we?’! These questions are stupid!’
“I’m done.”
“Oh, already. That was faster than I expected. Let us see here. Well, you are not bad at math at least, but what have you written. At least write you answers with understandable sentences. You have however gotten more than enough right to work here, so welcome to the ‘Agility course’.”
‘Elvish? But It’s written in english so I wrote the answers in english. So, I can’t write but I can read elvish. How does that work? Perhaps it is a skill or something… How do I see my skills? Or my status?’ ‘Open Status’
