CHAPTER 207

"You still don't get it?" Luke applied pressure on his blade and slid it across the area under her eye.

She could feel the blade carving into her flesh. Pain and fear overwhelmed her, and she screamed.

"You have until the count of three. I'll gouge your eyes out if you're still not jumping," Luke said coldly. He was just like a demon to Angie. "One… Two…"

"Stop, stop! I'll jump!" Angie screamed.

She could feel that this was not just a threat. He was for real. They were just on the second floor. She would break an arm or leg if she fell from here. There was no real harm, but if Luke blinded her, she would be finished. Nobody would marry her if she was blind, let alone a rich guy. I'd be done for! exclusive content.

Luke pulled his blade away and took two steps back. He whistled and said languidly, "Jump."

She looked down. It might be just the second floor, but her legs almost gave way from the fear. She was shivering. Angie looked at Luke, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, Luke. I'm really sorry. I'll do whatever you say, alright? I won't do anything stupid again. Please, just have mercy on me."

Luke fiddled with his dagger and squinted. "I'll be counting to three again if you're not jumping." The dagger was glinting menacingly under the sunlight.

Angie shivered and looked back again. She wanted to just get it over with, but she did not have the courage to. She was too scared to jump. Angie kept crying and shaking her head. "I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry. I won't do it again. Please, let me go…"

A devilish smile curled Luke's lips. He raised his right hand and hurled his dagger at Angie's eye. Angie let out a terrified scream, and she turned around to jump right out the window without hesitating. She fell with a thud, then she wailed.

Luke looked down the window. Angie had fallen into the bed of flowers, and she was screaming. His smile turned into a grin, and it was a wide one. He had picked this coffee shop and room on purpose. The coffee shop's garden was right out the window, and the flower bed was on the first floor's balcony. Angie would land on the flower bed if she jumped out of the window, and nobody would be harmed. Luke did not want her falling on anyone. "You still don't get it?" Luke applied pressure on his blade and slid it across the area under her eye.

Angie's scream attracted someone's attention. The waiter who saw her falling down was shocked, and he called his manager over.

The manager was in a dilemma. Someone just fell from the second floor. If this was a tough customer, they would have to pay her a lot of money even if they were not responsible for the accident. She was just the manager, not the boss. If the boss found out about this, she would be blamed for her management failure. It could cost her this job too. She quickly called the ambulance and asked Angie, "Hi, miss. Did you jump out the window yourself, or did someone push you?"

Luke had just come down. He heard what the manager said, and he answered, "She jumped down herself."

The manager turned around. That testimony was important. They would be cleared of any charges if the customer was the one who jumped out the window themselves.

Luke crouched down beside Angie and drawled, "She's my friend. She's jealous of a kind and beautiful lady. She's upset that the lady is living her best life, so she tried to sabotage her. But the lady is blessed. She managed to stay out of danger. My friend got mad that her plan failed, so she jumped out of the window."

Oh, um. Really? That's… weird. I-I have no idea what to say.

Angie's arms and legs were killing her. The pain almost knocked her out, but she was still conscious and heard what Luke said, and she hated him for it. He forced me to jump, and now he's ruining my reputation? I did not jump willingly. He forced me into it! She wanted to kill him, but she was too much of a coward to do that. Besides, she was hurt. Even if she wanted to kill him, she was no match for him.

What should I do? Should I call the cops? No. I have no proof he forced me to do this. He's rich. He can get a good lawyer and weasel his way out of this, and he'll get back at me once he escapes. It'll make my life even worse. This guy is mad. And he's rich and powerful at that. He can make my life a living hell if he wants to. Luke scared her into submission, and she did not argue with him. Instead, she kept sobbing.

The manager felt at ease, seeing as the victim and her friend were not planning to sue the coffee shop. She decided to stay out of it. She knew something must have happened between them, but as long as the victim wasn't demanding compensation, the manager would pretend none of this happened. She pretended she saw nothing.

The ambulance came just a moment later. The doctor and nurses moved Angie onto a stretcher and sent her to the hospital. Her left leg and right wrist were broken and needed to be operated on. She was sent to a ward after the operation. There was a nurse waiting beside her when she woke up.

The nurse told her, "Miss Colt, your operation and hospitalization fees total up to 1,200 dollars. You can pay for it yourself, or I can call your family and have them pay for you."

Angie almost fainted again after hearing that. Luke, you b*stard! You made me jump, and you didn't even pay for my fees? She only had less than fifteen hundred in cash. How am I supposed to live on so little money after this?

Xander was useless. He did not even give her a single cent, and Amelia was a stingy wench who would never give her any money as well. She had to pay out of her own pocket ever since she came to Dusktown. To make things worse, she had not even made any money yet. She would be left with nothing if she gave all her remaining cash to the hospital. Her face was white, and she was shivering in fury.

The nurse thought she was not paying, so she frowned. "Miss Colt?"

"I'll give you my father's number." Angie refused to pay out of her own pocket, and she told the nurse Xander's number. He was still her father after all. He should pay for her hospital fees now that she was hurt.
