"Let's make a deal." Thanatos did not want to lose the only one who he could call a friend. He had an idea.
"I will give you a new vessel and put it in another world. I will transfer your soul there as well."
"And what's in it for you?" Alias naturally new making deals with Death would not be so one-sided. Or so he thought.
"Every week we will play a game of chess." Alias was suspicious. He did not use the idea of trust. He asked another question.
"I'm not so sure that Death can create life. That new vessel of mine. Will it be a living one?" Death paused for a moment.
"No. Unfortunately, there will not be a way to completely hide it either."
"I see."
"Does that not bother you?"
"No. I got tired of living long ago. I do have one request, however. I want this world to be like that of a game."
"That is not possible. I can only alter you. I would disrupt the balance if the world if I altered it too much. Luckily for you, however, the world is similar to that of a game already. It has monsters and dungeons. The technology is based around that of magic as well." Alias' face lit up with excitement.
"Then can I be like a game character?"
"If that is what desire then it will be." A sinister smile appeared on Alias' face.
"Just know one thing."
"..."
"I don't plan on being some kind of hero. However, I do plan on becoming powerful. I will be a god." Death didn't say a word. Instead, he tapped Alias' shoulder. Alias immediately collapsed.

Alias woke up laying on the pitch-black ground. He was still in his old body. The Grim Reaper appeared next to Alias. Death spoke.
"Choose." One word that would decide so much. In front of Alias was a screen made of light. One word strew itself across the top of the screen. Class. In front of him was a class selection screen. Warrior, mage, archer, assassin, tamer, summoner, and everything in between. Alias' eyes widened. Under the class selection was the word magic. Fire, frost, wind, electricity, time, space, dark, light, and soul. There was even a weapons menu below that. Then an armor menu was below that.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Do I get to choose my body as well?"
"I will allow you to alter it to a degree." Alias thought long and hard about this. Then he asked another question.
"What's the limit."
"There is no limit, but beware. This is not child's play. You will have to work hard for everything." Alias started laughing a maniacal laugh that pierced through the room.
"Alright then. I choose the reaper class. I choose every magic. I choose a scythe as my weapon. I choose a mask and a cloak as my armor." Death touched Alias' chest and he collapsed once more.

A text box appeared before Alias's newly clear eyes.
[Vylaria is under attack by the dragon king as well as the demon king. Save Vylaria and stop them. Reward: God Crown]
"Hm. Maybe I should make them my allies. Subordinates maybe?" Alias had his status up.
[Alias Lvl 1 Reaper]
Alias tapped on "reaper". A description explained what type of class it was.
[Reaper: A high damage class that excels in soul magic. An appropriate skill tree is attached. Souls required for evolution: 1000
Effects: Lifesteal (10%), Soul Magic Affinity (300% Exp).]
"Very nice. Now let's see here... inventory." Another window appeared.
"Oh... this is going to be fun." Alias equipped his black and white mask as well his cloak and scythe. He then surveyed his surroundings. He was in a cave. The cave was being lit up by bright glowing Crystals of every color. He heard water moving around.
"What?" Alias looked behind him to find a snake swimming in a pond of glowing water. It was crystal clear and a brilliant bright blue. One of his hands was holding his scythe. With the other, he snatched the snake out of the water.
"Food." Alias pinned the snake to the floor and skinned it alive with his scythe. It wasn't alive for much longer though.
[Gained 28 experience]
[Gained 1 soul]
"Do I even need to eat? ...I'll keep it just in case." He put the snake meat in his Inventory. Alias began looking for an exit to the cave. Eventually, he found a slime. It was green slow and good target practice for his magic. Alias instinctively knew how to use magic thanks to Thanatos. Alias figured it would be a good idea to use the soul he just got to practice his soul magic. Soul magic was a bit different from other magics. It was extremely rare and powerful in Vylaria. That was because it used souls instead of mana. This resulted in a powerful magic that for most people could never be used. The only way to obtain a soul is to kill someone. Most people didn't do that. Alias extended his hand towards the slime. A powerful shockwave came from Alias' hand and echoed throughout the cave. The slime was splayed against the wall of the cave in a million pieces.
[Gained 12 Exp]
[Soul Magic Lvl 2: Damage increase.]
Alias waited a moment. He was waiting for the soul to be collected however there was no soul to be collected. Slimes did not have souls.
"Good to know."
Alias continued looking for an exit. Along the way, he collected more souls from various snakes and fish. He skinned them for their meat as well. Then he came across a large door made of stone. There was a skull engraved on the door.
"A boss fight? Is the exit beyond the boss?" A wicked smile grew upon Alias. He pushed the door open slowly. There was a large open room with stairs in each direction leading to a platform. On the platform was a somewhat worthy enemy. It was a crystal bear. It was largely black with Crystal's on it's back. And long red claws that threatened light whatever they touched aflame.
