Embracing the Past

Embracing the Past

After the loss of both his Father and Mother, Harry's uncle had come to pick him up to take care of him. He had taken Harry to the much more peaceful countryside. Harry remembered this part of his life vividly as everything changed for him that year. Greaving heavily as the pain he'd experienced was unbearable at the time. I mean imagine your life completely crumbling apart in 2 months. He had to witness his father mentally breaking down for 2 whole months after his mother left.

Harry had shut himself in his room for an entire month without talking to anyone. Only eating the food his kind uncle had set him at the door, not wanting to hurt him any further while giving him the space he needed. Occasionally he would hear his uncle also mourning for his brother's death, sobbing down the hall as he was also in agony remembering the memory of seeing his brother commit suicide.

However, thinking back to it now this experience made him who he was today. As they say, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

After this memory, to lighten up his supposed last moments, Harry started to remember his first day of high school in the countryside.

This was a short but fleeting memory, but very distinct as he remembered how everyone had made fun of him the very first day of school.

"HAHAHA, HIS NAME IS WHAT??"

"SAY THAT AGAIN TEACH!"

"PLEASE I BEG YOU!!"

"..." His teacher had looked at Harry with eyes saying he was sorry for this.

"Anyone who laughs at Mr. Balzac's name will get detention, as of this second." The teacher eyed the class sternly. However, this couldn't stop an entire class from laughing.

"YOU SAID HIS NAME WAS HARRY BALZAC?!" A kid shouted in the back panting trying not to burst at any moment.

However, at his point, all of the class had busted out laughing, not able to contain themselves. However, there was one person in the back who hadn't been laughing and was eyeing Harry with an interest in their eye.

After this occurrence, Harry was the laughingstock at his school for an entire year of his school life. It hadn't been until his Sophomore year of high school that things started to change for the slightly better. The person who hadn't laughed at him at the time was a girl and a cute one at that. Her name was Emily, and she would talk to him every day on their way to school. Emily had seen something in Harry that most hadn't which was his maturity. She was attracted to mature men like a moth was to a lamp and she didn't waste any time at all getting to know Harry.

After a year of becoming friends with Emily, Harry ended up asking her out on a date and she accepted instantly.

After dating for a month or two. Harry ended up telling Emily his family's tragic story because it left a huge lump in his heart. After this, she had been considerate and asked him if there were any other burdens he wanted to share so they could both help each other as a team. Emily hated to see Harry try to tackle everything on his own such as the people who bullied him for his name and him mentally fighting against his past traumas all by himself.

As he thought back to these memories of the times he had with Emily one memory couldn't help but resurface.

"Ahh"

"Those cards all make sense now"
