Magus Tower

After one month within the Kemoyin island, an agile figure was fighting against a giant wolf magical beast.

If you look carefully at this figure of a young man, you could see his average face, and also faintly see that there was not any hint of childishness and could be estimated that this youth is not that old in age. And the color of the eyes of this youth was dark but the depth of it seems to suck the life out of everything.

And the giant wolf he was fighting was middle-class magical beast—Dire Gale Wolf, it has high level defence and is one of the toughest magical beast of its class. Once it target it's enemy, it never let it go.

This youth was Allen, these days he had already started to travel inside the forest to the inner zones as he used his skills to protect his life and hone his ability. But after starting his journey, he found out that his chakkar limit and control wasn't very adequate.

Every time he use his Chakkar to attack, he would use a huge amount of chakkar, this not only waste the learning time but also waste great amount of chakkar with each use. In an environment such as these where numerous dangerous encounter and fatal beasts lurks, he cannot afford to be wasteful or in a weakened unprepared state.

After realizing his problem, he decisively stopped to continue relying on just chakkar but begin to fully maximize his powers to it's most efficient way.

Control, that's right what he needed the most is control. If he is able to probably utilize Chakkar to maintain his physical peak and fights with his iron rank battle aura and make use of spiritual force to scan for danger then he would be closest to the peak state.

He needs to create a balance between these three and use the resources he has before him. Each power is dependent on another so, he shouldn't focus on only just one. In a strict sense, the most powerful is spiritual force but it's close to impossible to efficiently use it,because of lack of soul force for him to absorb as well as lack of elixir so, the soul force most useful application for now is the spiritual sense it provides to scan and gauge an enemy. With this he can avoid various dangerous situation.

Battle Aura, this is the power of this world and is obviously the most suited one here. Allen would love to maximize this power but his missing technique is shunting his growth. With his ability and mastery even without using Chakkar or Spiritual force he can match a copper rank. Allen wants to find a way for him to breakthrough in this regards as well but the problem is direction, there is no lack of types of techniques. He has no idea about the type his battle aura belongs to, he only only reluctantly buy every sample and try. Which would cost his a fortune.

The most versatile power, Allen has is the Chakkar. He has high hopes for it but they were pretty much all dashed due to the inability to use the shinobi arts but that doesn't mean Chakkar is useless. The power it gives to the body is very remarkable, if perfected and controlled with highest proficiency he might be able to shatter boulders with a punch but the problem is again, his lack of chakkar. Which is directly proportional to his inability to breakthrough in Battle Aura as well as the difficulties in training soul force.

But, there is a silver lining. Allen has been able to find the path for himself. It is quite simple - He would use chakkar as a support in his fighting style for leaping, increasing power, driving endurance, streaking speed.

He would use spiritual sense, to gauge his enemy his surrounding as well as keep notice of the fighting environment. With spiritual sense, he doesn't need eyes he can function properly regardless if it's day or night, he also have a 360° sense of his surrounding so, sneaking behind him and catching him unprepared is close to impossible. Obviously his range is pretty pathetic but it's good enough if focused entirely in one direction to trail.

For his fighting, he would mainly use Battle Aura. This is most natural force in his body which is what the body is also most used to, being in a world where it is the main source of power not using it is just a handicap.

With his three power together he can increase his ability, endurance, and prowess to another level. The usage of chakkar is obviously more powerful than Battle Aura for now but it would just exhaust him very swiftly.

With his increasing proficiency in this new fighting style, even without exhausting him Allen has a great chance to slaughter the mercenaries from before.

...

Allen looked at the magical beast before him with caution as he wasn't able to gain any sort of leverage after fighting for a long time, there were faint droplets of sweat all around his face and he was huffing. Allen instantly withdraw a few bone daggers from his pocket as he masterfully threw them in the beasts direction targeting it's eye. Allen created this dagger himself by making use of a particular beast called 'Canion Leo' which has extremely sharp teeth and ridiculous speed. Canion Leo is a particularly dangerous beast but fortunately the one that Allen meet was at the end of it's life span and also injured.

The teeth from such a creature is very well shaped to be used as sharp daggers, Allen just faintly sharped them a bit and it was ready to use.

The Dire Gale Wolf look at that his opponents offence in disdain, and released a huge roar from its mouth while advance towards the incoming daggers. Just before the collision it changed the direction and tried to dodge although the daggers still pierced through it's skin, the injury wasn't fatal as the magical beast marched towards Allen.

"Let's try!" He looked at the tree behind himself and lured the magical beast to follow him closely, as he removed all the distracting thoughts and started to focus his chakkar on his foot, Allen has learned to balance it without spiritual force help. And he slowly set his foot on the tree which was in front of him.

He started to walk on the surface of that huge tree trunk.

"Concentrate your mind, control the amount of chakkar, feel with the spiritual sense, and attack with the sword of blazing battle Aura." He was repetitively saying to himself within his heart, while carefully walking upwards the tree.

*Boom*

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

The magical beast behind him collided with the tree as Allen jumped away in a backflip, He knew that these petty tricks aren't enough to kill it. But taking advantage of the time when the Dire Gale Wolf was stunned, in a flash he arrived at the side of Dire Gale Wolf

"Moon Dance- Whirlwind Disaster! " He quickly lowered his body using his momentum enhanced by utilizing chakkar and swept his sword slashing against the Dire Gale Wolf's right leg. Suddenly the Dire Gale Wolf was knocked to the ground as it's right leg was chopped off.

Allen followed his first stike with another thrust towards its head splitting the air. Allen wanted to use only battle Aura for offence but after being aware that he cannot achieve victory that way, he didn't hesitate to turn to his even more expertly controlled chakkar.

The pale blue chakkar revolved around his sword like a shape saw with threatening penetrating power as it carried unmatched momentum.

*Psh!*

Because of Allen full force attack, the Dire Gale Wolf couldn't resist, as the sword enter it's orbital lobe through the eye and pierced through it's brain like butter and emerged outside it's posterior lobe.

Allen took a step back as he breath heavily, he was only able to win because he constantly harassed the beast throughout the bout and totally spent it, after drawing circle all around the beast Allen finally used his final attack and emerged victorious.

"My skills are already not something a silver rank could match upto. Although I don't have the arrogance to claim myself as the strongest but with my unusual methods and the advantage of the terrain here, not even a normal Gold rank could necessarily get rid of me." Allen assess his strength calmly, he has gained a fair bit of experience and strength through this month of adventure and his skill has been polished very much, his swordsmanship has achieved great results as he could easily capture and perceive the faster movement of his foes with the help of spiritual sense, his only limiting factor is lack of stamina, and if that is remedied then he could walk undisturbed throughout the kemosin island except for the forbidden zones.

Allen quickly collected the important parts of the beasts body as well as his daggers and immediately retreat to rest for a while, the dead beast could attract some others which is a situation he definitely doesn't want to deal with.

Allen immediately continued his journey after reaching his peak state. He has already reached his destination and entered the premises of the marked ruins.

"The Magus Tower huh?" Allen sighed as he looked at the destroyed structure and walked inside the ruins coming near the sole still standing remaining structure. This place has already been excavated multiple times, it is a small ruin that was said to be a tower that used to be a magus's residence.

The colossal tower in the legends that reached out beyond the clouds described in books was no longer standing, but there has been a discovery of the three basement floors which shocked the finders. In the end they took what they can and left the place, it is already been checked various time and it's a hotspot for researchers especially regarding the last floor which is said to be site to behold for researchers, Allen was also interested in the last floor as well.

Allen walked the destroyed and uneven path filled with overgrown tree roots as he saw the entrance which was a small gloomy opening, from the size and placement of it around the ruins one would need to slither through it like a snake.

As Allen was about to come closer, he saw a bunch of people around the opening. From the looks of it and the fascination of some individual of the group as well as the annoyance of others, it seems like a team of researchers as well as a hired mercenary group.

Allen paid them no heed and walked near the entrance, meeting other humans here isn't a rare encounter neither a frequent one. The island is very big and the number of people here is also not small so there are chances to meet other, actually this is the first time Allen has met any humans though since his massacre.

As Allen was walking, the group of mercenary was immediately alerted as they draw their sword and looked in his direction. But after looking at Allen they were bewildered and confused. Allen didn't look at them but he was ready to act the moment any signs of aggression is detected by his spiritual sense.

The crowd relaxed as from Allen's body, there was no whatsoever Battle Aura radiating at all. Actually he didn't have any presence around him like a ghost or something. He looked nothing different than an average human when looked without much intrest but if anyone would notice him then they would find him very odd. Not only did Allen had no presence, his steps made no sound either and his breathing was inaudible.

This is why the mercenary group was startled badly as they cannot sense anyone coming near without the footsteps or any other anomaly.

Sadly, this group wasn't a particularly impressive one so they couldn't find anything odd with Allen except for him being here alone.

They group looked at Allen with intrest but soon lost any desire to investigate, The only thing they kept in their mind was to search for his teammates as they looked around. In their mind there is no way Allen a normal human is here unaccompanied but to their perplexity there wasn't anyone except him.

Suddenly one of the mercenary noticed the sword hilt buckled in Allen's waist as he snorted in disdain for a swordsman wannabe, "Hey Kid, where is your team? This isn't a place for the likes of you to roam freely-"

As the mercenary was talking Allen didn't even spare him a glane as he looked ahead, Allen ignored the whole existence of the group and immediately slither his way through inside the magus tower.

"What? This bitch! Let me beat some respect into him." The mercenary was talking endlessly as he noticed Allen ignoring and going away. He was bursting with anger and embarrassment, he wanted to march through and teach Allen a lesson.

"Josh! Ignore the kid, let him go. Our mission is done, I just want to go back to the port and enjoy some ale and womens in Glasgow Inn." One of his partner hold his shoulder and spoke with a perverted grin.

"Yeah man, that kid is going to die before he know it. Let's go back." Other mercenary said.

"No! I don't think he is so simple. For him to come here without any help is very suspicious. The most obvious situation would be him being Noble or a student with a protecting team, teachers or guardian who strayed from his entourage, but I don't think so either his face held no signs of panic and he didn't ask for help either. His clothes were a bit torn as if he has went through a couple of battles but that is preposterous these parts are very risky and only a team of trained swordsman like us could come here without any trouble, but he looks like a normal kid. It better to not underestimate him, and create any trouble." The leader spoke as he looked in the direction of the gap, "Anyway, Let's camp for today and leave tomorrow morning we have a long journey so keep yourself in top conditions."

As the group begin to look for a place to camp ignoring the cursing fellow and rest for the night Allen walked inside the structure paying no heed to them, with his spiritual sense he could observe their level hence he wasn't necessarily on guard towards them.

Allen walked through the first two underground basement which was pretty average and desolate and entered the third and last floor as a strange scene appeared before him

Large, smooth walls made from stainless steel shone like a mirror, seemingly unworn from the passing of time. Lines stretched across the floor up to the walls and intersected to form a complicated, three-dimensional magical formation diagram and chunks of neatly-arranged rocks with archaic script could be seen in the vicinity. These could be the cornerstones that served as the foundation of the magical formation.

Many people dreamed about gaining boundless wealth and fame for discovering ruin like these but felt it wasn't too realistic. Most of the ruins that humans once inhabited had already been excavated and studied and were no longer of much value with only a few exceptions that possibly lay hidden somewhere in the lush, dense forests or the desolate mountains. Given their abilities and the magical beasts that lurked around such areas, however, it would have been a suicidal effort. They could only daydream in vain of the glory and riches that awaited.

The reason this place wasn't ransacked was because it held no meaning, although the place looked valuable it was only artistic not anything more. Once destroyed it would loose all value and in essence, It could only serve as a place of fascination and research for scholars and nothing else.

In a indirect way, it could be said that not destroying it is more profitable as the mercenary keep getting hired to escort people here and gain a long lasting benefit.

Allen looked around and saw a life like black snake statue sculptured around the far end of the room, Allen had a unique intrest and attraction from it so, he walked near the statue and looked at some foreign words inscribed there.

"Is this the ancient language of Magi?"

These magical languages by nature could not be easily passed down through the generations. But the magi of the time frequently inscribed the script of these languages onto stone tablets to record important information. These days, the field of language studies can only rely on the characters on the tablets to slowly decipher the actual meaning of the words by matching the drawings that was occasionally found next to the characters. So far, the largest achievement in the field of language studies was the ability to distinguish words of the different language from that of the different era. Not much progress had been made however in understanding the language themselves.

And amongst these languages, the most difficult and headache inducing is the ancient magi language which is called the Barlyon language. There is some ancient manual about this particular language which seems to the hide the strength of magic within itself. People have search high and low to understand this but except for name and some few translation there hasn't been much luck. More importantly even imitating the language won't help because they cannot draw onto the true strength hidden in the language itself.

Allen looked at the wierd unrecognizable words and the serene snake with an unreadable expression as a certain fascination appeared on his face and his hand subconsciously stretch towards the words.

*Hissss*
